Boosting the Activity and Stability of the Photoreduction of Diluted CO_(2) by Copper Oxide Decorated CeO_(2) Hetero-shells

Inspired by the natural photosynthesis systems,the integrated harnessing and conversion of CO_(2) present a promising solution for addressing the ever-rising global atmospheric concentration of CO_(2).Hollow multi-shelled structured(HoMS)photocatalysts,featuring alternating shells and cavities,have recently gained recognition as efficient nano-reactors for capturing CO_(2) molecules and facilitating effective photoreduction within these hierarchical structures,leveraging the preeminent enrichment *** this work,to augment the photocatalytic efficacy of HoMS in CO_(2) treatment,highly dispersed Cu_(x)O nanoparticles(NPs)were incorporated on the CeO2 shells through a polymer-assisted impregnation method to create more active sites and strengthen the interaction between the hetero-shells and CO_(2) *** photoreduction of the CO_(2)-to-CO rate under a diluted CO_(2)(15%,volume fraction)atmosphere is improved by the introduction of Cu_(x)O NPs,with the highest CO yielding rate reaching 120µmol·h^(−1)·g^(−1) without any sacrificial *** comparison experiments and theoretical calculations reveal that the Cu_(x)O NPs promote the adsorption of CO_(2) molecules in HoMS,accelerate the charge transfer efficiency,and stabilize the surface oxygen vacancies(Ovs)during the photoreduction CO_(2) conversion *** hope these easy-to-prepare HoMS nanoreactors can contribute to the effective enrichment and valorization of CO_(2) in industrial exhaust gases.

Representing the next-generation technology in lithium-ion batteries,lithium-sulfur(Li-S)batteries offer increased specific energy without relying on scarce metals like nickel and cobalt,but suffer from a low practical specific energy due to poor conductivity and a short lifespan due to the shuttle effect of *** the confinement of polysulfides and the transport of lithium ions requires highly elaborate modifiers for *** multi-shelled structures(HoMSs)show promise as hierarchical mesostructures for separators,offering multiple shell layers and internal cavities that effectively inhibit polysulfide *** design of these structures is crucial to address these challenges *** this study,nitrogen-doped carbon HoMS(NC HoMS)was created using polymer templates through a precisely controlled polymerization *** featuring NC HoMS-modified separators exhibit improved capacity and cycling stability in comparison to those utilizing commercial ***,triple-shelled NC HoMS strikes a balance in polysulfide containment and lithium ion *** a sulfur loading of 6.34 mg/cm^(2),the Li-S battery can consistently complete 100 charge-discharge cycles,starting with a discharge capacity of 966.4 mA·h/g with a 75.8%capacity retention *** HoMS holds potential as the separator modifier in addressing the polysulfide shuttle problem and facilitating the Li-ion transportation for advanced Li-S batteries.

BACKGRouND Pituitary gland metastasis is an unusual event,and pituitary metastasis from lung adenocarcinoma is extremely rare and associated with poor *** date,approximately 15 cases have been *** SUMMARY Here,we present the case of a 64-year-old woman with pituitary metastasis derived from lung adenocarcinoma,which was difficult to distinguish from other sellar *** patient presented to the neurosurgery clinic with blurred vision and intermittent *** hospitalization,brain computed tomography(CT)and magnetic resonance imaging revealed a pituitary *** CT revealed irregular nodules in the basal segment of the lower lobe of the left lung,which were likely lung *** emission tomography-CT revealed a carbohydrate metabolism tumor in the lungs and sellar region,which was considered *** pathological examination of the sellar tumor revealed lung *** Excision of pituitary metastases combined with radiotherapy and chemotherapy should be a priority treatment for patients with pituitary metastasis.

AIM:To explore the usage of choroidal thickness measured by swept-source optical coherence tomography(SS-OCT)to detect myopic macular degeneration(MMD)in high myopic ***:Participants with bilateral high myopia(≤−6 diopters)were recruited from a subset of the Guangzhou Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center-Brien Holden Vision Institute High Myopia Cohort ***-OCT was performed to determine the choroidal thickness,and myopic maculopathy was graded by the International Meta-Analysis for Pathologic Myopia(META-PM)Classiﬁ*** of MMD was defined as META-PM category 2 or ***:A total of 568 right eyes were included for *** with MMD(n=106,18.7%)were found to have older age,longer axial lengths(AL),higher myopic spherical equivalents(SE),and reduced choroidal thickness in each Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study(ETDRS)grid sector(Pouter nasal sectors was the most accurate indicator of MMD(AUC of 0.928 and 0.923,respectively).An outer nasal sector choroidal thickness of less than 74μm demonstrated the highest odds of predicting MMD(OR=33.8).CONCLUSION:Choroidal thickness detects the presence of MMD with high agreement,particularly of the inner and outer nasal sectors of the posterior pole,which appears to be a biometric parameter more precise than age,AL,or SE.

A seismic elastic moduli module for the measurements of low-frequency wave dispersion and attenuation of fluid-saturated rocks under different pressures

Knowledge about the seismic elastic modulus dispersion,and associated attenuation,in fluid-saturated rocks is essential for better interpretation of seismic observations taken as part of hydrocarbon identification and time-lapse seismic surveillance of both conventional and unconventional reservoir and overburden performances.A Seismic Elastic Moduli Module has been developed,based on the forced-oscillations method,to experimentally investigate the frequency dependence of Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio,as well as the inferred attenuation,of cylindrical samples under different confining pressure *** with three standard samples showed that the measured elastic moduli were consistent with the published data,indicating that the new apparatus can operate reliably over a wide frequency range of f∈[1-2000,10^(6)]*** Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio of the shale and the tight sandstone samples were measured under axial stress oscillations to assess the frequency-and pressure-dependent *** dry condition,both samples appear to be nearly frequency independent,with weak pressure dependence for the shale and significant pressure dependence for the *** particular,it was found that the tight sandstone with complex pore microstructure exhibited apparent dispersion and attenuation under brine or glycerin saturation conditions,the levels of which were strongly influenced by the increased effective *** addition,the measured Young's moduli results were compared with the theoretical predictions from a scaled poroelastic model with a reasonably good agreement,revealing that the combined fluid flow mechanisms at both mesoscopic and microscopic scales possibly responsible for the measured dispersion.
