In this study, based on a two-potential approach, we systematically investigated the proton radioactivity half-lives of spherical proton emitters with 69≤Z≤81 from the ground and/or isomeric state, choosing the nuclear potential to be a modified Woods–Saxon potential that contains the isospin effect of the daughter nucleus. It was found that the calculated half-lives could reproduce the experimental data well. Furthermore, we extended this model to predict the half-lives of 17 protonemitting candidates whose radioactivity is energetically allowed or observed but not yet quantified in NUBASE2020. For comparison, the unified fission model, Coulomb potential and proximity potential model, universal decay law for proton emission, and new Geiger–Nuttall law were also used. All the predicted results are consistent with each other.

Three woody bamboo species collected in Hainan,China in 1940 have been described as Dinochloa based on vegetative ***,the identity of these species has long been in doubt,largely because the vegetative phase in species of Dinochloa is morphologically similar to that in species of Melocalamus,a climbing or scrambling bamboo genus of the paleotropical woody bamboos(Poaceae:Bambusoideae)that consists of about 15 species and one *** determine the phylogenetic affinity of the three Dinochloa species from Hainan,we sampled almost all recognized Chinese species of Melocalamus and representative species of Dinochloa as well as other closely related genera,performed molecular phylogenetic analysis,and compared their morphology based on herbarium and fieldwork *** ddRAD data indicate that the three species from Hainan are closely related to Melocalamus,not *** analysis showed that these three species have a climbing habit but do not grow spirally,their culm leaves have smooth bases,and there is a ring of powder and/or tomenta above and below the *** together our findings indicate that the three species from Hainan originally published in Dinochloa should be transferred to Melocalamus,i.e.,Melocalamus orenudus(McClure) ***& ***,Melocalamus puberulus(McClure) *** & ***,and Melocalamus utilis(McClure) *** &***,*** study concludes with an enumeration of Chinese species of Melocalamus,with a key to nine recognized species and one variety,and a lectotypification for M. compatiflorus.

Helicoverpa armigera adults display a conspicuous positive phototactic behavior to light stimuli, and are especially sensitive to ultraviolet （UV） light. The effects of UV-A （longwave） exposures on adult longevity and reproduction in H. armigera were investigated, as well as the development of the Ft generation. Paired adults were exposed to UV-A for various time periods （0, 1, 5 and 9 h/day）, until the end of adult life. The results showed that adult longevity decreased with increasing exposure time for both sexes, and a significant decrease was observed after exposure for 5 and 9 h/day. Fecundity increased when adults were exposed for 1 and 5 h/day, and a significant difference was observed in the 5 h/day group. Oviposition rates of females in all treatments were significantly higher than in the control. Exposure to UV-A for longer periods （5 and 9 h/day） caused a decline in cumulative survival of F1 immature stages, but no significant differences were found in egg hatch, pupation and eclosion. The developmental periods of F1 larvae were significantly prolonged after exposure to UV-A for 5 and 9 h/day. UV-A radiation had no significant effects on F1 pupal period.

Analysis on Initial Defects Based on Mechanical State of Meniscus Shell

The meniscus shell plays an important role in slab quality and process operation for continuously cast steel. One decisive reason is initial solidifying shell and growing dendrite under the mechanical stress caused by mold oscil- lation and liquid steel flow to generate disturbance of casting. The mechanical state of meniscus shell was analyzed using mathematical models in combination with thermo-physical properties and flow rate of steel to shed light on the formation of initial defects. The results show that the mold oscillation is a critical factor on the initial crack formation because the periodic stress makes the shell bending. The formed crack may also expand and propagate due to the fol- lowing secondary cooling and straightening behavior. The primary dendrite has high possibility to be broken by fluid flow in the solidification front to lead to the non-uniform thickness of solidifying shell. The inter-dendrite bridging is also likely to be formed to produce other internal defects, such as air hole and solute enrichment in the residual mol- ten steel located in the bridging area.

Conventional quantum dots inherently carry the risk of cytotoxicity. Considering the biomedical limitations, an amino acid and vitamin were utilized to prepare highly luminescent carbon dots. Ascorbic acid and lysine were used to synthesize water soluble carbon dots which are highly hiocompatible as both reactants and essential nutrients.
