Ultrahigh cycle fatigue fracture mechanism of high-quality bearing steel obtained through different deoxidation methods

The mechanism of oxide inclusions in fatigue crack initiation in the very-high cycle fatigue(VHCF)regime was clarified by subjecting bearing steels deoxidized by Al(Al-deoxidized steel)and Si(Si-deoxidized steel)to ultrasonic tension-compression fatigue tests(stress ratio,R=−1)and analyzing the characteristics of the detected *** show that the main types of inclusions in Si-and Al-deoxidized steels are silicate and calcium aluminate,*** content of calcium aluminate inclusions larger than 15μm in Si-deoxidized steel is lower than that in Al-deoxidized steel,and the difference observed may be attributed to different inclusion generation processes during *** differences in their cleanliness and total oxygen contents,the Si-and Al-deoxidized steels show similar VHCF *** factors causing fatigue failure in these steels reveal distinct *** aluminate inclusions are responsible for the cracks in Al-deoxidized *** comparison,most fatigue cracks in Si-deoxidized steel are triggered by the inhomogeneity of a steel matrix,which indicates that the damage mechanisms of the steel matrix can be a critical issue for this type of steel.A minor portion of the cracks in Si-deoxidized steel could be attributed to different types of *** mechanisms of fatigue fracture caused by calcium aluminate and silicate inclusions were further *** aluminate inclusions first separate from the steel matrix and then trigger crack *** inclusions and the steel matrix are closely combined in a fatigue process;thus,these inclusions have mild effects on the fatigue life of bearing ***/Mn deoxidation is an effective method to produce high-quality bearing steel with a long fatigue life and good liquid steel fluidity.

A waterproof nanocrystalline soft magnetic alloy core with a size of O.D.850 mm×I.D.316 mm×H.25 mm for radio frequency acceleration was successfully developed by winding 18μm 1k107b MA ***μ'_(p)Qf products reached 7.5,10,and 12 GHz at 1,3,and 5 MHz,***μ'_(p)Qf products of the MA core(O.D.250 mm×I.D.100 mm×H.25 mm)manufactured using a 13μm MA ribbon further increased by 30%.Detailed improvements on the MA core manufacture process are discussed *** high-power tests on the new MA cores demonstrated its good performance of waterproofness,particularly its stability of highμ'_(p)Qf *** MA core with highμ'pQf product and large size can operate under a high average RF power,high electric field,and in deionized water,which will be used in the China Spallation Neutron Source PhaseⅡ(CSNS-Ⅱ).

Optimizing mechanical and magnetic properties of AlCoCrFeNi high-entropy alloy via FCC to BCC phase transformation

FCC,BCC and B2 phases,the most common phases in high-entropy alloys(HEAs),are widely investigated to tailor their mechanical and magnetic *** detailed investigation of FCC to BCC/B2 phase transformation of Al Co Cr Fe Ni HEA in this paper reveals its evolution and structure-properties relations in terms of both temperature and holding *** increasing heat treatment temperature and duration,such transition will progress simultaneously at both the dendric core(DC)region and interdendric(ID)region and the volume of phase transformation from FCC to BCC phases is greater than FCC to B2 phases,resulting in increased yield strength and saturation *** obvious phase transition of the Al Co Cr Fe Ni HEA at 1200℃can enhance its yield strength and saturation magnetization as a sacrifice of its fracture ***,an excellent combination of mechanical-magnetic properties was achieved when heat-treated at 1100℃for 50 h by optimizing both the transformation and the size of B2 *** present study could pave ways to design the HEAs or other alloys with an optimum combination of mechanical and magnetic properties for application-oriented viewpoints.

Light-driven biohybrid system utilizes N2 for photochemical CO2 reduction

Attempting to couple photochemical CO2reduction with N2fixation is usually difficult,because the reaction conditions for these two processes are typically ***,we report that a light-driven biohybrid system can utilize abundant,atmospheric N2to produce electron donors via biological nitrogen fixation,to achieve effective photochemical *** biohybrid system is constructed by incorporating molecular cobalt-based photocatalysts into N2-fixing *** is found that N2-fixing bacteria can convert N2into reductive organic nitrogen and create a localized anaerobic environment,which allows the incorporated photocatalysts to continuously perform photocatalytic CO2reduction under aerobic ***,the light-driven biohybrid system displays a high formic acid production rate of over 1.41×10-14mol h-1cell-1under visible light irradiation,and the organic nitrogen content undergoes an over-3-fold increase within 48 *** work offers a useful strategy for coupling CO2conversion with N2fixation under mild and environmentally benign conditions.

Effects of additive NaI on electrodeposition of Al coatings in AlCl_(3)-NaCl-KCl molten salts

Effects of NaI as an additive on electrodeposition of Al coatings in AlCl_(3)-NaCl-KCl(80-10-10 wt-%)molten salts electrolyte at 150°C were investigated by means of cyclic voltammetry,chronopotentiometry,scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction(XRD).Results reveal that addition of NaI in the electrolyte intensifies cathodic polarization,inhibits growth of Al deposits and increases number density of charged *** electrodeposition of Al coatings in the AlCl_(3)-NaCl-KCl molten salts electrolyte proceeds via three-dimensional instantaneous nucleation which however exhibits irrelevance with *** deposition results indicate that NaI could facilitate the formation of uniform Al deposits.A compact coating consisting of Al deposits with an average particle size of 3μm was obtained at a current density of 50 mA∙cm^(−2) in AlCl_(3)-NaCl-KCl molten salts electrolyte with 10 wt-%*** analysis confirmed that NaI could contribute to the formation of Al coating with a preferred crystallographic orientation along(220)plane.

Lymphoepithelial cyst of the pancreas: a case report

BACKGROUND: Lymphoepithelial cyst of the pancreas is a rare lesion of undetermined pathogenesis that had been documented almost exclusively in males. The literature on this entity is limited to reports of single or a small number of cases.METHODS: The case we described herein was compared with a total of 36 cases reported elsewhere.RESULTS: The 37 cases of lymphoepithelial cyst of the pancreas including our case were reviewed. Lymphoepithelial cysts have uniform and distinctive clinicopathologic features. Approximately 46% of the reported cases were asymptomatic with the lesions found incidentally, and their symptoms were non-specific.CONCLUSIONS: Lymphoepithelial cyst is a rare benign lesion of the pancreas. Fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) is a rapid and reliable technique that can be used as the first diagnostic step in cases of cystic lesions of the pancreas.

Changes in Organic Carbon Index of Grey Desert Soil in Northwest China After Long-Term Fertilization

Soil organic carbon （SOC）, soil microbial biomass carbon （SMBC） and SMBC quotient （SMBC/SOC, qSMBC） are key indexes of soil biological fertility because of the relationship to soil nutrition supply capacity. Yet it remains unknown how these three indexes change, which limits our understanding about how soil respond to different fertilization practices. Based on a 22-yr （1990-2011） long-term fertilization experiment in northwest China, we investigated the dynamics of SMBC and qSMBC during the growing period of winter wheat, the relationships between the SMBC, qSMBC, soil organic carbon （SOC） concentrations, the carbon input and grain yield of wheat as well. Fertilization treatments were 1） nonfertilization （control）; 2） chemical nitrogen plus phosphate plus potassium （NPK）; 3） NPK plus animal manure （NPKM）; 4） double NPKM （hNPKM） and 5） NPK plus straw （NPKS）. Results showed that the SMBC and qSMBC were significantly different among returning, jointing, flowering and harvest stages of wheat under long-term fertilization. And the largest values were observed in the flowering stage. Values for SMBC and qSMBC ranged from 37.5 to 106.0 mg kg1 and 0.41 to 0.61%, respectively. The mean value rank of SMBC during the whole growing period of wheat was hNPKM〉NPK_M〉NPKS〉CK〉NPK. But there were no statistically significant differences between hNPKM and NPKM, or between CK and NPK. The order for qSMBC was NPKS〉NPKM〉CK〉hNPKM〉NPK. These results indicated that NPKS significantly increased the ratio of SMBC to SOC, i.e., qSMBC, compared with NPK fertilizer or other two NPKM fertilizations. Significant linear relationships were observed between the annual carbon input and SOC （P〈0.01） or SMBC （P〈0.05）, and between the relative grain yield of wheat and the SOC content as well （P〈0.05）. But the qSMBC was not correlated with the annual carbon input. Impact of transgenic Bacillus thuringiensis cotton on a non-target pest Tetranychus spp. in northern China

Field studies were carried out to evaluate the effect of two transgenic cotton varieties （SGK321 carrying CryIA ＋ CpTI and DP99B carrying CryIAc） and the conventional variety （shiyuan321-parental line of SGK321） on spider mites, Tetranychus spp. from 2002 to 2004. In 2002, this experiment included three treatments： Bt cotton field （SGK321） treated with acaricides against spider mites, untreated non-Bt cotton field （Shiyuan321）, and untreated Bt cotton field （SGK321）. In 2003-2004, there are four types of treatments after a new transgenic Bt cotton variety, DP99B （non-chemical control）, was added into the experiments. The results showed that there were no significant difference in densities of spider mites among Bt without acaricides and non-Bt without acaricides cotton fields, nor was there a significant difference in damage of spider mites to cotton among these treatments （P 〉 0.1）. However, there are significant differences （P 〈 0.05） in densities of spider mites and damage caused by spider mites between cotton fields with and without acaricides. Acaricide significantly reduced the densities of spider mites in Bt cotton （P 〈 0.05）. These results suggest that Bt cotton has no effect on spider mites populations. However, spider mites have the potential for severe damage in Bt cotton fields. Acaricides are essential tools in controlling cotton spider mites in northern China.
