Dear Editor,Clinical practice shows that harmless mechanical stimulation can cause pain in humans after inflammation or nerve injury,leading to asensation called mechanical allodynia[].Mechanicalallodyniacomesin many forms:dynamic allodynia caused by something as light as a brushstroke,static allodynia caused by stimulation by weak von Frey filaments[2],which seriously disturbs thequalityof life and working abilityofpatients.Parkin,an E3ubiquitin ligase,is linked to neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease(PD)and Alzheimer's disease(AD)[3,4].

Developing an effective method for improving the reproducibility of positive temperature coefficient(PTC)effect is of great significance for large-scale application of polymer based PTC composites,owing to its contribution to the security and reliability.Herein,we developed a carbon black(CB)/high density polyethylene(HDPE)/poly(vinylidene fluoride)(PVDF)composite with outstanding PTC reproducibility,by incorporating 1-octyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide([OMIm][NTf2])into the composite.After multiple repeated temperature cycles,the PTC performance of as-prepared material keeps almost unchanged and the varition of resistance at room temperature is less than 7%.Our studies revealed that[OMIm][NTf2]contributes to the improvement of PTC reproducibility in two ways:(i)it acts as an efficient plasticizer for refining the co-continuous phase morphology of HDPE/PVDE blends;(ii)it inhibits the crystallization of PVDF through the dilution effect,leading to more overlaps of the volume shrinkage process of HDPE and PVDF melt which results in the decrease of interface gap between HDPE and PVDF.This study demonstrated that ionic liquids as the multifunctional agents have great potential for improving the reproducibility in the application of the binary polymer based PTC composites.

The metal-based additive manufacturing(AM),also referred to as metal 3D printing,has drawn particular interest because it enables direct creation,aided by computationally-directed path design,of intricate components with site-specific compositions and geometrical requirements as well as low buy-to-fly ratios.During the last two decades,the objective of this revolutionary technology has been shifting from only“rapid prototyping”to advanced manufacturing of special high-end products or devices,which,in many aspects,outperform conventional manufacturing technologies.For fusion-based AM,significant progress has been achieved in understanding the processing window of macroscopic scales,non-equilibrium metallurgy of mesoscale scales,and grain evolution of microscopic scales.Although the versatile capacity of AM facilitates new avenues for discovering advanced materials and structures,their potential has still not been fully explored.Given the unique non-equilibrium solidification during the AM process,coarse columnar grains with strong textures are usually developed along the build direction,which downgrades the mechanical performance.To push the limits of this digital manufacturing,this review attempts to provide in-depth and comprehensive overviews of the recent progress in understanding the evolution and control of the as-built microstructure that has been made recently and the challenges encountered during the AM process.

BACKGROUND Radiotherapy stands as a promising therapeutic modality for colorectal cancer(CRC);yet,the formidable challenge posed by radio-resistance significantly undermines its efficacy in achieving CRC remission.AIM To elucidate the role played by microRNA-298(miR-298)in CRC radio-resistance.METHODS To establish a radio-resistant CRC cell line,HT-29 cells underwent exposure to 5 gray ionizing radiation that was followed by a 7-d recovery period.The quantification of miR-298 levels within CRC cells was conducted through quantitative RT-PCR,and protein expression determination was realized through Western blotting.Cell viability was assessed by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay and proliferation by clonogenic assay.Radio-induced apoptosis was discerned through flow cytometry analysis.RESULTS We observed a marked upregulation of miR-298 in radio-resistant CRC cells.MiR-298 emerged as a key determinant of cell survival following radiation exposure,as its overexpression led to a notable reduction in radiation-induced apoptosis.Intriguingly,miR-298 expression exhibited a strong correlation with CRC cell viability.Further investigation unveiled human dual-specificity tyrosine(Y)-regulated kinase 1A(DYRK1A)as miR-298’s direct target.CONCLUSION Taken together,our findings underline the role played by miR-298 in bolstering radio-resistance in CRC cells by means of DYRK1A downregulation,thereby positioning miR-298 as a promising candidate for mitigating radioresistance in CRC.

The collisional dynamics of two symmetric droplets with equal intraspecies scattering lengths and particle number density for each component is studied by solving the corresponding extended Gross–Pitaevskii equation in two dimensions by including a logarithmic correction term in the usual contact interaction.We find the merging droplet after collision experiences a quadrupole oscillation in its shape and the oscillation period is found to be independent of the incidental momentum for small droplets.With increasing collision momentum the colliding droplets may separate into two,or even more,and finally into small pieces of droplets.For these dynamical phases we manage to present boundaries determined by the remnant particle number in the central area and the damped oscillation of the quadrupole mode.A stability peak for the existence of droplets emerges at the critical particle number Nc≃48 for the quasi-Gaussian and flat-top shapes of the droplets.

Structure Optimization of Wheel Force Transducer Based on Natural Frequency and Comprehensive Sensitivity

The current research of wheel force transducer （WFT） mainly focuses on test signal processing and decoupling methods based on signal itself, while the WFT structure optimization research related to decreasing the mass and increase the natural frequency and comprehen- sive sensitivity is not enough. In order to improve the WFT test accuracy, a structure optimization method based on natural frequency and comprehensive sensitivity indicators is put forward. The WPT with 8-beam elastic body is used for the finite element modeling （FEM）, in which the fol- lowing variations are taken into consideration： the con- nection type of elastic body with modified rim, the number of connection holes, and the respects of strain beam including the shape, the cross sectional area and the length, etc.. The test results shows that the natural frequency of the connecting block type is increased by 65.5% compared with the connecting seat type of elastic body ＆ modified rim, and the main channel sensitivity is improved as well. The results show that the connecting block type will achieve the best comprehensive performance when the number of connecting holes between the elastic body and the modified rim is 20. And the thinner and longer strain beam with smaller cross section area is preferable within the scope of elastic body mechanical strength. This research proposes a novel structure optimization method for WFT which contributes to improve the measurement performance of WFT.

Diapause is a long-lived stage which has evolved into an important strategy for insects to circumvent extreme environments.In the pupal stage,Helicoverpa armigera can enter diapause,a state characterized by significantly decreased metabolic activity and enhanced stress resistance,to survive cold winters.Previous studies have shown that reactive oxygen species(ROS)can promote the diapause process by regulating a distinct insulin signaling pathway.However,the source of ROS in the diapause-destined pupal brains and mechanisms by which ROS regulate diapause are still unknown.In this study,we showed that diapause-destined pupal brains accumulated high levels of mitochondrial ROS(mtROS)and total ROS during the diapause process,suggesting that mitochondria are the main source of ROS in diapause-destined pupal brains.In addition,injection of 2-deoxy-D-glucose(DOG),a glucose metabolism inhibitor,could delay pupal development by elevating mtROS levels in the nondiapause-destined pupal brains.Furthermore,the injection of a metabolite mixture to increase metabolic activity could avert the diapause process in diapause-destined pupae by decreasing mtROS levels.We also found that ROS could activate HSP60 expression and promote the stability of the HSP60-Lon complex,increasing its ability to degrade mitochondrial transcription factor A(TFAM)and decreasing mitochondrial activity or biogenesis under oxidative stress.Thus,this study illustrated the beneficial function of ROS in diapause or lifespan extension by decreasing mitochondrial activity.

As one of the prominent landforms in the Zhurong landing region,mesas are geological features with flat tops and steep marginal cliffs.The mesas are widely distributed along the dichotomy boundary.There are various interpreted origins proposed for the mesas,such as the erosion of sedimentary layers,tuyas eruptions,or surface collapse due to the catastrophic release of groundwater.We investigate the detailed morphological characteristics of the mesas on the Late Hesperian Lowland unit within the Utopia Planitia.We observe morphological evidence for both the ice-bearing interior mesas and the sedimentary origin,including(1)small pits on the crater wall and mesa cliff formed by the release of volatiles like ice;(2)lobate flows at the base of mesas formed by the melting of subsurface ice;(3)layered mesas indicating sedimentary origin;(4)grooves on the top surface of mesas formed by the volumetric compaction of sedimentary deposits.The results indicate that the mesas in the study area are formed by the erosion of sedimentary layers and representative of the Noachian oceanic sediments.We propose an evolutionary model for the mesas.This study will provide some insights into future research of ancient ocean hypothesis of Mars and interesting targets for the exploration of the Zhurong rover.

Photocatalytic N_(2)xation has attracted substantial attention in recent years,as it represents a green and sustainable devel-opment route toward effciently convert-ing N_(2)to NH_(3)for industrial applications.How to rationally design catalysts in this regard remains a challenge.Here we pro-pose a strategy that uses plasmonic hot electrons in the highly doped TiO_(2)to ac-tivate the inert N_(2)molecules.The synthesized semiconductor catalyst Mo-doped TiO_(2)shows a NH_(3)production effciency as high as 134μmol·g^(-1)·h^(-1)under ambient conditions,which is comparable to that achieved by the conventional plasmonic gold metal.By means of ultra-fast spectroscopy we reveal that the plasmonic hot electrons in the system are responsible for the activation of N_(2)molecules,enabling improvement the catalytic activity of TiO_(2).This work opens a new avenue toward semiconductor plasmon-based photocatalytic N_(2)xation.
