Despite their ubiquitous distribution and significant ecological roles, soil microorganisms have long been neglected in investigations addressing parasitic plant-host interactions. Because nutrient deprivation is a primary cause of host damage by parasitic plants, we hypothesized that beneficial soil microorganisms conferring nutrient benefits to parasitized hosts may play important roles in alleviating damage. We conducted a pot cultivation experiment to test the inoculation effect of an arbuscular mycorrhizal（AM） fungus（Glomus mosseae）, a rhizobium（Rhizobium leguminosarum）and their interactive effects, on alleviation of damage to a legume host（Trifolium repens） by two root hemiparasitic plants with different nutrient requirements（N-demanding Pedicularis rex and P-demanding P. tricolor）. This is the first study to test interactive effects of AM fungi and rhizobia on parasitic plant-host interactions. The knowledge obtained will not only enable better understanding of the function of soil microorganisms in alleviating host damage induced by root hemiparasites,but also help broaden understanding of how multiple contrasting associations with an individual host affect each other. Our results demonstrated strong effects of beneficial microorganisms on alleviating host damage by root hemiparasites. By using two root hemiparasites with contrasting nutrient requirements, we showed that the relative benefits of microbial inoculation were related to different nutritional interactions between the host and hemiparasites. The results also showed, though indirectly, that different hemiparasites may impose differential nutrient deprivation on their hosts. Future work needs to take soil microorganisms into account when addressing host-parasite interactions involving root hemiparasitic *** of the multi-species interactions along a gradient of nutrient supply will increase understanding of regulation mechanisms influencing the interactions between such nutrient-dri

Fertilization has been shown to have suppressive effects on arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi（AMF） and root hemiparasites separately in numerous investigations, but its effects on AMF in the presence of root hemiparasites remain untested. In view of the contrasting nutritional effects of AMF and root hemiparasites on host plants, we tested the hypothesis that fertilization may not show strong suppressive effects on AMF when a plant community was infested by abundant hemiparasitic plants. Plants and soil samples were collected from experimental field plots in Bayanbulak Grassland, where N and P fertilizers had been applied for three continuous years for control against a spreading root hemiparasite, Pedicularis kansuensis. Shoot and root biomass of each plant functional group were determined. Root AMF colonization levels, soil spore abundance, and extraradical hyphae length density were measured for three soil depths（0-10 cm, 10-20 cm, 20-30 cm）. Partial 18 S rRNA gene sequencing was used to detect AMF diversity and community composition. In addition, we analyzed the relationship between relative abundance of different AMF genera and environmental factors using Spearman’s correlation method. In contrast to suppressive effects reported by many previous studies, fertilization showed no significant effects on AMF root colonization or AMF species diversity in the soil. Instead, a marked increase in soil spore abundance and extraradical hyphae length density were observed. However, fertilization altered relative abundance and AMF composition in the soil. Our results support the hypothesis that fertilization does not significantly influence the abundance and diversity of AMF in a plant community infested by P. kansuensis.

Recently, lithium metal batteries (LMBs) have been intensively explored owing to its high capacity and low potential of Li as the anode [1]. However, challenging problems for LMBs easily occur during cycling process [2], e.g., the growth of Li dendrites,the formation of unstable electrode-electrolyte interphases and side reactions inside the battery [3]. These problems can lead to reduced battery performances and short circuit [4], which are tried to be solved by some strategies including various threedimensional (3D) supports for Li deposition, electrolyte additives and Li alloys. However, it is still difficult to solve the stability of Li cycling effectively. 3D supports are demonstrated to be effective for tolerating the volume change during Li deposition.

This study primarily investigates the rock fracture mechanism of bottom cushion layer blasting and explores the effects of the bottom cushion layer on rock *** involves analyses of the evolution patterns of blasting stress,characteristics of crack distribution,and rock fracture features in the ***,blasting model experiments were carried out using the dynamic caustics principle to investigate the influence of bottom cushion layers and initiation methods on the integrity of the bottom rock *** experimental results indicate that the combined use of bottom cushion layers and inverse initiation effectively protects the integrity of the bottom rock ***,the process of stress wave propagation and dynamic crack propagation in rocks was simulated using the continuum-discontinuum element method(CDEM)and the Landau explosion source model,with varying thicknesses of bottom cushion *** numerical simulation results indicate that with increasing cushion thickness,the absorption of energy generated by the explosion becomes more pronounced,resulting in fewer cracks in the bottom rock *** illustrates the positive role of the cushion layer in protecting the integrity of the bottom rock mass.

BACKGROUND Minimally invasive esophagectomy(MIE)is a widely accepted treatment for esophageal cancer,yet it is associated with a significant risk of surgical adverse events(SAEs),which can compromise patient recovery and long-term *** preoperative identification of high-risk patients is critical for improving *** To establish and validate a risk prediction and stratification model for the risk of SAEs in patients with *** This retrospective study included 747 patients who underwent MIE at two centers from January 2019 to February *** were separated into a train set(n=549)and a validation set(n=198).After screening by least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression,multivariate logistic regression analyzed clinical and intraoperative variables to identify independent risk factors for SAEs.A risk stratification model was constructed and validated to predict the probability of *** SAEs occurred in 10.2%of patients in train set and 13.6%in the validation *** with SAE had significantly higher complication rate and a longer hospital stay after *** key independent risk factors identified included chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,a history of alcohol consumption,low forced expiratory volume in the first second,and low albumin *** stratification model has excellent prediction accuracy,with an area under the curve of 0.889 for the training set and an area under the curve of 0.793 for the validation *** The developed risk stratification model effectively predicts the risk of SAEs in patients undergoing MIE,facilitating targeted preoperative interventions and improving perioperative management.

The Ninety-East Ridge(NER)is located in the semioceanic to oceanic region of the southern Bengal Fan in the Northeast Indian *** sedimentary environment,ocean currents,and scientific issues related to climate change have always been the focus of *** well understand the sedimentary environment of the sea area,we studied the modern sedimentary environment of the NER by analyzing the redox-sensitive trace elements(RSEs)and biomarkers in the surface sediments of the northern region and both sides of the NER and the mechanism of their *** ratios of Mo/U(average 2.22),(Cu+Mo)/Zn(average 1.51),and the results ofδCe<1 of the sediment samples,all indicate the reduction of the sedimentary *** addition,the ratio of pristane(Pr)to phytane(Ph),C30diahopane to C30 hopane,and diasterane to sterane were low in all samples,on average of 1.03,0.9,and 0.33,*** analysis of RSE and biomarker data revealed that the sedimentary environment on seabed of the NER is generally a rare low-oxygen reduction *** the analysis of sediment characteristics,material sources,and ocean currents,we preliminarily constructed a genetic model for the low-oxygen reducing environment of surface sediments in the *** believe that the low-oxygen reduction environment of surface sediment in the NER could be influenced by multiple factors,such as terrestrial input of materials,productivity at sea surface,and sediment particle size.
