Experimental study of the effects of a multistage pore-throat structure on the seepage characteristics of sandstones in the Beibuwan Basin:Insights into the flooding mode

To investigate the relationship between grain sizes, seepage capacity, and oil-displacement efficiency in the Liushagang Formation of the Beibuwan Basin, this study identifies the multistage pore-throat structure as a crucial factor through a comparison of oil displacement in microscopic pore-throat experiments. The two-phase flow evaluation method based on the Li-Horne model is utilized to effectively characterize and quantify the seepage characteristics of different reservoirs, closely relating them to the distribution of microscopic pores and throats. It is observed that conglomerate sandstones at different stages exhibit significant heterogeneity and noticeable differences in seepage capacity, highlighting the crucial role played by certain large pore throats in determining seepage capacity and oil displacement efficiency. Furthermore, it was found that the displacement effects of conglomeratic sandstones with strong heterogeneity were inferior to those of conventional homogeneous sandstone, as evidenced by multiple displacement experiments conducted on core samples with varying granularities and flooding systems. Subsequently, core-based experiments on associated gas flooding after water flooding were conducted to address the challenge of achieving satisfactory results in a single displacement mode for reservoirs with significant heterogeneity. The results indicate that the oil recovery rates for associated gas flooding after water flooding increased by 7.3%-16.4% compared with water flooding alone at a gas-oil ratio of approximately 7000 m^(3)/m^(3). Therefore, considering the advantages of gas flooding in terms of seepage capacity, oil exchange ratio, and the potential for two-phase production, gas flooding is recommended as an energy supplement mode for homogeneous reservoirs in the presence of sufficient gas source and appropriate tectonic angle. In situ Hydrothermal Oxidation of Ternary FeCoNi Alloy Electrode for Overall Water Splitting

Exploring noble metal-free catalyst materials for high efficient electrochemical water splitting to produce hydrogen is strongly desired for renewable energy *** this article,a novel bifunctional catalytic electrode of insitu-grown type for alkaline water splitting based on FeCoNi alloy substrate has been successfully prepared via a facile one-step hydrothermal oxidation route in an alkaline hydrogen peroxide *** shows that the matrix alloy with the atom ratio 4∶3∶3 of Fe∶Co∶Ni can obtain the best catalytic performance when hydrothermally treated at 180℃for 18 h in the solution containing 1.8 M hydrogen peroxide and 3.6 M sodium *** as-prepared Fe_(0.4)Co_(0.3)Ni_(0.3)-1.8 electrode exhibits small overpotentials of only 184 and 175 mV at electrolysis current density of 10 mA cm^(-2)for alkaline OER and HER processes,*** overall water splitting at electrolysis current density of 10 mA cm^(-2)can be stably delivered at a low cell voltage of 1.62 *** characteristics including the large specific surface area,the high surface nickel content,the abundant catalyst species,the balanced distribution between bivalent and trivalent metal ions,and the strong binding of in-situ naturally growed catalytic layer to matrix are responsible for the prominent catalytic performance of the Fe_(0.4)Co_(0.3)Ni_(0.3)-1.8 electrode,which can act as a possible replacement for expensive noble metal-based materials.

P-and SV-wave dispersion and attenuation in saturated microcracked porous rock with aligned penny-shaped fractures

P-and SV-wave dispersion and attenuation have been extensively investigated in saturated poroelastic media with aligned ***,there are few existing models that incorporate the multiple wave attenuation mechanisms from the microscopic scale to the macroscopic ***,in this work,we developed a unified model to incorporate the wave attenuation mechanisms at different scales,which includes the microscopic squirt flow between the microcracks and pores,the mesoscopic wave-induced fluid flow between fractures and background(FB-WIFF),and the macroscopic Biot's global flow and elastic scattering(ES)from the *** Tang's modified Biot's theory and the mixed-boundary conditions,we derived the exact frequency-dependent solutions of the scattering problem for a single penny-shaped fracture with oblique incident P-and *** then developed theoretical models for a set of aligned fractures and randomly oriented fractures using the Foldy *** results indicated that microcrack squirt flow considerably influences the dispersion and attenuation of P-and SV-wave *** coupling effects of microcrack squirt flow with the FB-WIFF and ES of fractures cause much higher velocity dispersion and attenuation for P waves than for SV *** oriented fractures substantially reduce the attenuation caused by the FB-WIFF and ES,particularly for the ES attenuation of SV *** a comparison with existing models in the limiting cases and previous experimental measurements,we validated our model.

The incorporation of dynamic covalent bonds into thermosets facilitates the reprocessing of polymer networks,thereby meeting the sustainable requirements for polymer ***,the mechanical properties of many materials often decline significantly upon reprocessing due to side reactions caused by harsh processing *** this work,we find that the aromatic dithiocarbamate bond can undergo dissociation under mild conditions without the need for a catalyst,enabling the efficient reprocessing of the corresponding *** a consequence,the mechanical properties of the polydithiourethane can be largely preserved after *** discovery of this dynamic chemistry is anticipated to broaden the potential for material design in dynamic covalent polymer networks.

Recent progress in single crystal perovskite X-ray detectors

Perovskites have attracted extensive attention as radiation detection material due to their long carrier diffusion length and lifetime, high absorption coefficient, and flexible manufacturing process. Compared with polycrystalline structures, single crystal perovskites improve the performance of optoelectronic devices due to their low defect state density, better photoelectric characteristics, and chemical ***, we review the recent progress of single crystal perovskite X-ray detectors. First, we briefly introduced the basic concepts, detection mechanisms, figure of merits of perovskite X-ray detectors, and the preparation methods of single crystal perovskites. Then, we summarized the significant advancements in single crystal perovskite X-ray detectors in recent times. Finally, we discussed the critical challenges and some practicable solutions for developing high-performance X-ray detectors.

CpG Island Definition and Methylation Mapping of the T2T-YAO Genome

Precisely defining and mapping all cytosine(C)positions and their clusters,known as CpG islands(CGIs),as well as their methylation status,are pivotal for genome-wide epigenetic studies,especially when population-centric reference genomes are ready for timely ***,we first align the two high-quality reference genomes,T2T-YAO and T2T-CHM13,from different ethnic backgrounds in a base-by-base fashion and compute their genome-wide density-defined and position-defined ***,by mapping some representative genome-wide methylation data from selected organs onto the two genomes,we find that there are about 4.7%–5.8%sequence divergency of variable categories depending on quality *** among the divergent sequences are mostly associated with neurological ***,CGIs associated with the divergent sequences are significantly different with respect to CpG density and observed CpG/expected CpG(O/E)ratio between the two ***,we find that the T2T-YAO genome not only has a greater CpG coverage than that of the T2T-CHM13 genome when whole-genome bisulfite sequencing(WGBS)data from the European and American populations are mapped to each reference,but also shows more hyper-methylated CpG sites as compared to the T2T-CHM13 *** study suggests that future genome-wide epigenetic studies of the Chinese populations rely on both acquisition of high-quality methylation data and subsequent precision CGI mapping based on the Chinese T2T reference.

A novel efficient Cu_(2)WS_(4)/MoS_(2) step-scheme(S-scheme)heterojunction photocatalyst was constructed for the first time and applied in the removal of environmental *** the as-prepared photocatalysts,the Cu_(2)WS_(4)/MoS_(2)-8%heterojunc tion photoc atalyst demonstrates the optimal photocatalytic performance,with the catalytic oxidation efficiency of tetracycline(TC)and the catalytic reduction efficiency of Cr^(6+)reaching 93.3%and 82.1%,*** excellent catalytic properties of Cu_(2)WS_(4)/MoS_(2) heterojunction photocatalysts are attributed to the effective separation pathways of charges and the presence of S-scheme heterojunctions,together with stronger redox *** is speculated that the photogenerated carrier migration path of the Cu_(2)WS_(4)/MoS_(2) catalyst follows the typical S-scheme photocatalytic mechanism,which is verified by the in-depth experimental study and simulated calculations including the electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR)analysis,free radical quenching experiments,charge density distribution,and simulated built-in electric field formation at the interface,which acts as driving force to promote the separation of photoinduced electrons and ***,the photocatalytic mechanism of S-scheme photogenerated carrier migration for the Cu_(2)WS_(4)/MoS_(2) catalyst is revealed based on the systematic experimental techniques and simulated calculations,accounting for its superior photocatalytic oxidation and reduction *** study provides inspiring implications to develop high-efficient S-scheme photocatalytic systems for versatile applications in solarenergy conversion.

A charged particle array named MATE-PA,which serves as an auxiliary detector system for a Multi-purpose Active-target Time projection chamber used in nuclear astrophysical and exotic beam Experiments(MATE),was *** array comprised of 20 single-sided strip-silicon detectors covering approximately 10%of the solid *** detectors facilitated the detection of reaction-induced charged particles that penetrate the active volume of the *** performance of MATE-PA has been experimentally studied using an alpha source and a 36-MeV 14 N beam injected into the MATE chamber on the radioactive ion beam line in Lanzhou(RIBLL).The chamber was filled with a gas mixture of 95%4 He and 5%CO_(2) at a pressure of 500 *** results indicated good separation of light-charged particles using the forward double-layer silicon detectors of *** energy resolution of the Si detectors was deduced to be approximately 1%(σ)for an energy loss of approximately 10 MeV caused by theα*** inclusion of MATE-PA improves particle identification and increases the dynamic range of the kinetic energy of charged particles,particularly that of theαparticles,up to approximately 15 MeV.

Construction of daily precipitation series and the observational characteristics of extreme precipitation in Tianjin,China during 1888-2022

Given the difficulties in rescuing and ensuring the quality of long-term climate data,current studies on century-scale climate change are usually limited to annual and monthly data,resulting in the poor detection of extreme climate events and their changes before *** this study,we reconstructed a daily precipitation series for Tianjin from 15 September 1887 to 31 December 2022 on the basis of the most comprehensive daily precipitation records collected from the Tianjin Meteorological Archive,China,and in reference to the precipitation analysis results based on the datasets developed by the Climatic Research Unit Time-Series version 4.06,Global Precipitation Climatology Centre and University of Delaware along with the application of various homogenisation methods for climate *** approach provides a complete and reliable century-long daily precipitation series for the study of regional or local extreme weather and climate *** reconstructed daily dataset reveals that the annual precipitation amount and R95 intensity in Tianjin during 1888-2022 lack significant trends and have values of 0.74±6.99 and-1.84±3.22 mm per decade,*** the annual and seasonal scales,the precipitation amount and R95 intensity,particularly those in autumn,have increased since the latter half of the 20th century relative to those in ***,the increase in precipitation amount and R95 intensity is relatively limited compared with that in atmospheric water vapour content due to surface warming,indicating the highly sensitive response of extreme precipitation events to *** addition,the estimates for the return periods of 5,10,20,50 and 100 years covering 1888-2022,1888-1950 and 1951-2022 depict that the intensity of heavy rain and above magnitude was highest in 1888-1950 and decreased in 1951-2022.
