A hybrid system containing an asymmetrical waveguide coupled to a whispering-gallery resonator embedded with a two-level atom is designed to investigate single-photon transport properties. The transmission and reflection amplitudes are obtained via the discrete coordinates approach. Numerical simula, tion demonstrates that a tri- frequency photon attenuator is realized by controlling the couplings between the asymmetrical waveguide and the whispering-gallery resonator. The phase shift, group delay and dissipation effects of the transmitted single-photon are also discussed.

It was known that mesoporous metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)with hierarchical pores and unsaturated metal sites can effectively inhibit the shuttle effect of lithium polysulfides in lithium-sulfur battery,however,the unsatisfactory structural stability and electrical conductivity limit the application of mesoporous MOFs(MMOFs)in Li-S *** at sensible solutions,the conductive polyaniline(PANI)was incorporated into the MMOF to enhance the discharge capacity and the cycling stability of proposed Li-S batteries,as the stability and the conductivity of the MMOF cathode was improved *** activated MMOF-PANI provides physical and chemical adsorption of polysulfides against their shuttle ***,the introduction of PANI into the channels of MMOF effectively improves the conductivity of MMOF,thus improving the electrochemical performance of the MMOF-PANI-based *** from these synergetic effects,the S@MMOF-PANI cathode delivers improved electrochemical performance including excellent rate performance and cycling *** battery shows an initial capacity of 777.7 mAh·g^(−1)at 2.0 C and a low decay rate of 0.06%per cycle in 1,000 cycles and approximately a repeatable rate performance.

In recent years,the rapid charge-discharge property of super capacitors based on metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)has seen excellent applications in energy storage ***,the purposeful design of high-performance electrodes for MOFderived super capacitors is still an urgent problem that needs to be ***,we rationally design and prepare three MOFs with the same crystal configuration and controllable functional *** the combination of rigorous experiment and calculation,we have verified the effects of the specific surface area of the electrode material as well as the binding energy between the electrode material and the electrolyte ions on the performance of the super *** work not only extends the application of MOFs,but also provides a model-material platform for the study of charge–discharge behavior of MOF-based super capacitors,creating a way of thinking for the selection and design of MOF materials for energy storage applications.

Polyelectrolyte brushes(PEBs)are commonly used to modify surface that have attracted great research *** dielectric permittivity of the grafted surface is typically significantly different from that of solution,which results in surface polarization(SP)effect with a jump of electric *** is thus important to study how SP alters the PEB’s structure and *** this work,the SP effects on PEB structure was studied using a statistical thermodynamic *** free energy functional to describe SP effect was constructed by using the image-charge ***,the electrostatic potential was solved from a modified Poisson-Boltzmann equation taking the ion solvation effect into *** the absence of SP,the thickness of PEB exhibited a continuous collapse transition when decreasing the solvent *** the presence of SP,the collapse became a jump-like *** energy analysis showed that the long-range Coulombic interaction dominated the transition because of the enhanced counterion condensation in the presence of *** theory provides an effective tool to study SP effect on PEBs,and the results explain the underlying physics in PEB collapse transition.

Cu-based chalcogenide materials exhibit significant promise for the development of Zn-metal-free anode materials for aqueous Zn-ion batteries (AZIBs). Here, we present the establishment of an efficient and universal strategy that capitalizes on the pyrolysis of copper nanoclusters to fabricate conversion-type Cu_(7)S_(4) anodes engineered for AZIBs, showcasing outstanding electrochemical performance. Furthermore, by exploiting ligand engineering, we enable the precise control of both the type of molecular fragments generated during nanocluster pyrolysis, thus enabling the manipulation of vacancy concentrations and ion/electron migration in the resultant pyrolysis products. In contrast to the direct pyrolysis of metal salts and ligands, the products derived from copper nanoclusters exhibit enhanced specific capacity, rate performance, and overall stability. This research offers valuable insights for the development of novel electrode materials through the pyrolysis of atomically precise nanoclusters.

Highly efficient preparation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural from sucrose using ionic liquids and heteropolyacid catalysts in dimethyl sulfoxide–water mixed solvent

Several types of ILs and solid acids were used as catalysts in one-pot conversion of sucrose to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural（abbreviated as 5-HMF） in a dimethyl sulfoxide（DMSO）/water mixed solvent under hydrothermal conditions. A remarkable 5-HMF yield of 91.8% was achieved catalyzed by the cesium salt of dodecatungstophosphoric acid（Cs（2.3）H（0.7）PW（12）O（40）） within 3 h at 180 C. The ionic liquid N-methylimidazolium hydrogen sulfate（[Hmim][HSO4]） gave the 5-HMF in 82.0% yield from sucrose. To the best of our knowledge, it was almost the highest yield of HMF from sucrose by now. Various reaction parameters including reaction temperature and time and catalyst dosage were optimized. A possible mechanism for this catalytic process was proposed. Furthermore, fructose and glucose were also investigated, good yields of 5-HMF was obtained respectively. This increases the possibility of large-scale production of 5-HMF from carbohydrates.
