Adsorbed and free gas occurrence characteristics and controlling factors of deep shales in the southern Sichuan Basin,China

Deep shale gas(3500-4500 m)will be the important succeeding field for the growth of shale gas production in China.Under the condition of high temperature and high pressure in deep shale gas reservoirs,its gas occurrence characteristics are markedly different from those of medium and shallow layers.To elucidate the gas occurrence characteristics and controlling factors of deep shales in the Wufeng-Longmaxi Formation,methane adsorption,low-temperature N2,and cO2 adsorption experi-ments were conducted.The results show that in deep shales,the mesopores provide approximately 75%of the total specific surface area(SA)and 90%of the total pore volume(PV).Based on two hypotheses and comparing the theoretical and actual adsorption capacity,it is speculated that methane is adsorbed in deep shale in the form of micropore filling,and free gas is mainly stored in the mesopores.Correlation analysis demonstrated that ToC is the key material constraint for the adsorption capacity of deep shale,and micropore SSA is the key spatial constraint.Other minerals and mesopore parameters have limited effect on the amount of adsorbed gas.Moreover,the free gas content ranges from 2.72 m^(3)/t to 6.20 m^(3)/t,with an average value of 4.60 m^(3)/t,and the free gas content ratio is approximately 58%,suggesting that the deep shale gas reservoirs are dominated by free gas.This ratio may also increase to approximately 70%when considering the formation temperature effect on adsorbed gas.Gas density,porosity,and gas saturation are the main controlling factors of free gas content,resulting in significantly larger free gas content in deep shale than in shallower formations.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD)is the most prevalent chronic liver condition worldwide.Current liver enzyme-based screening methods have limitations that may missed diagnoses and treatment delays.Regarding Chen et al,the risk of developing MAFLD remains elevated even when alanine aminotransferase levels fall within the normal range.Therefore,there is an urgent need for advanced diagnostic techniques and updated algorithms to enhance the accuracy of MAFLD diagnosis and enable early intervention.This paper proposes two potential screening methods for identifying individuals who may be at risk of developing MAFLD:Lowering these thresholds and promoting the use of noninvasive liver fibrosis scores.

Experimental study of non-uniform bubbles in a plume

The bubble plume is an important flow phenomenon, ubiquitous in many fields. The non-uniform bubbles in a plume are often simply considered as uniform and moving with a same slip velocity in an integral model. This study aims to have a better understanding of the behavior of the non-uniform bubbles in a plume. A set of experiments are conducted in a transparent water tank, in which the air plumes are generated through different injectors to vary the spectrum of the bubble size. The shadow images of the bubbles are simultaneously recorded with the illumination of a plane backlight. The algorithm used in the image analysis for tracing the bubbles is a newly developed multi-frame method based on the predictor-corrector method, with a good accuracy in estimating the size and the velocity of the overlapped bubbles based on the bubble shadow images. The bubbles are divided into several groups by their equivalent diameters with an interval of 0.5 mm. The spectrums of the bubble size and the void fraction are measured. It is found that the bubbles of different sizes show different dynamics features, resulting in a difference in the radial distribution. It is shown that the large bubbles gather in the center of the plume, while the medium bubbles spread the widest and even wider than the small bubbles. The difference can be explained by the effects of the transverse lift force and the amplitude of the bubble oscillation.

AIM：To assess possible benefits of intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide（IVTA）injection as pretreatment for macular laser photocoagulation（MLP）in patients with diabetic macular edema（DME）.·METHODS：Published randomized controlled trials（RCTs）concerning MLP with or without IVTA pretreatment for DME were retrieved from databases CNKI,Medline,EMbase,Web of Science,and the Cochrane Library.A Meta-analysis on eligible studies was conducted using Rev Man 5.0 software.Two investigators independently assessed the quality of the trials and extracted data.Main outcome measures included the change in best-corrected visual acuity（BCVA）,difference in central macular thickness（CMT）and adverse events reporting in particular elevated intraocular pressure within the follow-up period.The results were pooled using weight mean difference（WMD）or odds risk（OR）with their corresponding 95%confidence intervals（CI）.A fixed-or random-effect model was employed depending on the heterogeneity of the inclusion trials.·R ESULTS：Finally,five independent RCTs were identified and used for comparing MLP with IVTA pretreatment（131 eyes）with MLP alone（133 eyes,control group）.The overall study quality was relatively higher according to the modified Jadad scale.The Metaanalysis showed that MLP with IVTA pretreatment significantly reduced CMT at one,three and six months（=0.002,0.0003 and 0.04,respectively）,compared with MLP alone.The IVTA pretreatment group showed statistically significant improvements in BCVA at the one-month follow up as compared with the control group（=0.03）.At three-and six-month follow up,there was a beneficial trend towards improving visual acuity in the IVTA pretreatment group without statistical significance between groups（=0.06 and 0.20,respectively）.The incidence of elevation of intraocular pressure was significantly higher in the IVTA pretreatment group than in the control group（〈0.0001）.No evidence of publication bias was present according to Begg’s test and Egger’s test.There was a low level of heterogeneity in the included s

Nano mesocellular foam silica(MCFs)was synthesized through the hydrothermal method in this study.Powder X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy were used to characterize the MCFs sample.The sample presented spherical particles and regular morphology.The results of transmission electron microscopy showed that synthesized MCFs has a three-dimensional honeycomb pore structure,which aids in the adsorption of nickel ion(Ni^2+).The results of low-temperature nitrogen gas adsorption-desorption showed that the pore diameter of the synthesized MCFs was 19.6 nm.The impacts of pH,temperature,amount of adsorbent,initial concentration of Ni^2+,and contact time on the adsorption effect of Ni^2+ by MCFs were studied.Under the optimized adsorption conditions,the adsorption rate reached 96.10%and the adsorption capacity was 7.69 mg/g.It has been determined through the study of kinetics and adsorption isotherms that the adsorption of Ni^2+ by MCFs follows the pattern of the pseudo-second-order kinetic model,simultaneously belonging to the Freundlich adsorption type.The thermodynamic results of adsorption showed that,when the temperature is between 25℃ and 45℃,the adsorption is a spontaneous exothermic reaction.

Comparison of intravitreal bevacizumab with macular photocoagulation for treatment of diabetic macular edema: a systemic review and Meta-analysis

AIM: To further evaluate the efficacy and safety of intravitreal bevacizumab(IVB) versus macular photocoagulation(MPC) in treatment of diabetic macular edema(DME) by Meta-analysis. METHODS: Pertinent publications were identified through systemic searches of Pub Med, Medline,EMBASE, and the Cochrane Controlled Trials Register up to 30 November, 2013. Changes in central macular thickness(CMT) in μm and best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA) in log MAR equivalents were extracted at 1, 3, 6,12 and 24 mo after initial treatment, and a Meta-analysis was carried out to compare results between groups receiving IVB and MPC.RESULTS: Five randomized controlled trial(RCTs) and one high-quality comparative study were identified and included. Our Meta-analysis revealed that both IVB and MPC resulted in the improvements of CMT and BCVA in eyes with DME at 1mo after initial treatment, with IVB being significantly superior to MPC(P =0.01 and 0.02,respectively). The improvements of both measure outcomes at 3, 6, 12 and 24 mo after treatment did not vary significantly between the IVB groups and MPC groups(CMT at 3mo, P =0.85; at 6mo, P =0.29; at 12 mo,P =0.56; at 24 mo, P =0.71; BCVA at 3mo, P =0.31; at 6mo,P =0.30; at 12 mo, P =0.23; at 24 mo, P =0.52). However,the number of observed adverse events was low in all studies.CONCLUSION: Current evidence shows IVB treatment trends to be more effective in improvements of macular edema and vision in eyes with DME at an earlier follow up(1mo) compared with MPC. At other time, both interventions have comparable efficacy without statistical significances.

Implementation of non-precious electrocatalysts is key-enabling for water electrolysis to relieve challenges in energy and environmental sustainability. Self-supporting Ni-V2O3 electrodes consisting of nanostrip-like V2O3 perpendicularly anchored on Ni meshes are herein constructed via the electrochemical reduction of soluble NaVO3 in molten salts for enhanced electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution. Such a special configuration in morphology and composition creates a well confined interface between Ni and V2O3. Experimental and Density-Functional-Theory results confirm that the synergy between Ni and V2O3 accelerates the dissociation of H2O for forming hydrogen intermediates and enhances the combination of H*for generating H2.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of manual acupuncture on endometrial blood flow parameters by three-dimensional(3D) power Doppler ultrasound in women undergoing in vitro fertilization embryo transfer(IVF-ET). Methods: Seventy patients undergoing IVF-ET were equally randomized into traditional or sham acupuncture treatment group for totally 4 days(from the day of oocyte aspiration to the day of embryo transfer) of treatment by random envelope method at the Reproductive Medicine Center and Outpatient Department of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medicine College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology from January 2013 to December 2015. Patients in the traditional acupuncture group accepted traditional acupuncture methods with manual acupuncture, and Zhongji(CV3), Qihai(CV 6), Sanyinjiao(SP6), Taichong(LR 3), Tianshu(ST 25), Guilai(ST 29) and Zusanli(ST 36) were chosen. Patients at the sham acupuncture group accepted shallow acupuncture methods at 4 non-meridian points at each shoulder and upper arm. Outcome measures included endometrial ultrasonic indices such as vascularization index(VI), flow index(FI) and vascularization flow index(VFI), endometrial thickness and volume, subendometrial VI(sVI), subendometrial FI(sFI), subendometrial VFI(sVFI), implantation rate, clinical pregnancy rate, abortion rate, live birth rate and number of live births. Results: Finally, 34 patients in the traditional acupuncture group and 35 in the sham acupuncture group completed this trial. VI, FI and VFI of the traditional acupuncture group were significantly higher than those in the sham acupuncture group(P0.05).
