Fabrication of 6FDA-HFBAPP Polyimide Asymmetric Hollow Fiber Membranes and Their CO2/CH4 Separation Properties

In this work, poly(amide acid) solution, the precursor of polyimide, was synthesized by the reaction of 4,4′-(hexafluoroisopropylidene)diphthalicanhydride and 2,2-bis[4-(4-aminophenoxy)phenyl]-hexafluoropropanane in the solvent of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone(NMP) and tetrahydrofuran(THF). Then, hollow fiber membranes for high flux gas separation were prepared by dry-jet wet spinning using the precursor solution of poly(amide acid) as the spinning dope and a subsequent imidization process. Silicone rubber was further coated outside the obtained hollow fiber membranes to repair the defects on the denser layer. The effects of internal, external coagulation bath ratios with air gap, and coating solution concentrations on the morphologies, structures, and separation performance of the membranes were studied. Results showed that the sponge-like support layer was formed when the content of NMP was increased from 50% to 90% in the internal coagulation bath. The outer surface of the membrane became denser when the water content in the external coagulation bath increased from 40% to 100%, and the separation coefficient of CO2/CH4 increased by 2 times. This value could reach up to 1.4 when the air gap was 6 cm. With tuning the mass fraction of silicone rubber as 5%, hollow fiber composite membranes with uniform coating layer and an improved separation coefficient of 5.4 could be obtained.

Objective:Omicron,a severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)variant,is responsible for numerous infections in *** study investigates the association between the use of Seven-Flavor Herb Tea(SFHT)and the risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection to develop precise and differentiated strategies for control of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).Methods:This case-control study was conducted at shelter hospitals and quarantine hotels in China.A total of 5348 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 patients were enrolled between April 1 and May 31,2022,while 2190 uninfected individuals served as healthy *** questionnaires were used to collect data on demographics,underlying diseases,vaccination status,and use of *** were propensity-score-matched using 1:1 nearest-neighbor matching of the logit of the propensity ***,a conditional logistic regression model was used for data ***:Overall,7538 eligible subjects were recruited,with an average age of[45.54±16.94]*** age of COVID-19 patients was significantly higher than that of uninfected individuals([48.25±17.48]years vs[38.92±13.41]years;t=22.437,P<0.001).A total of 2190 COVID-19 cases were matched with uninfected individuals at a 1:1 *** use of SFHT(odds ratio=0.753,95%confidence interval:0.692,0.820)was associated with a lower risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection compared to untreated ***:Our findings suggest that taking SFHT reduces the risk of SARS-CoV-2 *** is a useful study in the larger picture of COVID-19 management,but data from large-sample multi-center,randomized clinical trial are warranted to confirm the finding.

Recently, medicinal peptide molecules are of great interest to many international pharmaceutical companies, mainly because of their relatively lower research costs, shorter research cycles, and the greater likelihood of being drugs, when compared with traditional small molecules. Due to the great variety in molecule structures and the diverse biological functions, disulfide-rich peptide toxins have become a shining molecular library for the development of polypeptide drugs. In view of the increasing amount of related publications, here we summarize the discovery, structural elucidation and chemical synthesis of disulfide-rich peptide toxins and their analogs.

Blockade of the interaction of anaphylatoxin C5a with its receptor C5aR1 has been actively studied as a potential treatment for many inflammatory diseases;but current C5a antagonists exhibit inadequate potency and poor species cross-reactivity, and novel biochemical tools are needed to investigate whether the core region of C5a contains important interaction epitopes that can explain these limitations. Herein, we report the development of chimeric protein C5a probes containing both the complete core region of rat or human C5a, and the small-molecule antagonist PMX53-1. These probes were chemically synthesized through hydrazide-based native chemical ligation of a linear peptide hydrazide with the requisite cyclopeptidic antagonist, both of which were made by solid-phase synthesis. Quasi-racemic X-ray crystallography established that attachment of PMX53-1 did not affect the structure of the core region of C5a. Subsequent C5aR1 activity assays demonstrated the probes can provide valuable insights into the development of C5a antagonists;for example, they exhibited significantly better binding affinity and much improved species cross-reactivity than PMX53-1, supporting the notion that the effect of some epitopes outside the C-terminus of C5a should be taken into consideration when designing better C5a antagonists. Surprisingly, the core region of C5a was found to partially agonize C5aR1, suggesting the presence of more than one agonistic interaction in the binding of C5a to C5aR1. This study exemplifies the value of chemical protein synthesis in developing novel receptor probes for drug discovery research.

Active oxygen quantum yield, insecticidal activities and stability of diphenylthiophene were studied for the first time. The results showed that maximum diphenylthiophene absorbency variety was 0.438 after irradiation for 280 min and that of α- terthienyl （α-T） was 0.480 after irradiation for 200 min with UV. LCs0 values ofdiphenylthiophene and α-T against 3rd instar larvae ofAedes albopictus were 9.18 × 10^-3 and 9.69× 10^-4 μg mL^-1 when treated for 24 h, respectively. LC50 values of the two chemicals against the 3rd instar larvae of Plutella xylostella were 267.87 and 222.22 μg mL^-1 when treated for 24 h, respectively. The half lives of diphenylthiophene and α-T in methanol were 113.62 and 10.65 h. Difference between quantum yield of diphenylthiophene and α-T was not significant and they all possessed high toxicity to Aedes albopictus and Plutella xylostella, but diphenylthiophene was more stable than α-T. It could be concluded that diphenylthiophene has overcome the deficiency of photoactivated insecticides which degraded quickly in the environment and could not be applied on the field. Diphenylthiophene could kill the insects and accelerate the degradation rate of triazophos. The benefits of diphenylthiophene can be further exploited and applied on the field.

RNA binding motif proteins(RBMs)have been widely implicated in the tumorigenesis of multiple human cancers but scarcely studied in nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC).Here,we compare the m RNA levels of 29 RBMs between 87 NPC and 10 control *** find that RBM47 is frequently upregulated in NPC specimens,and its high expression is associated with the poor prognosis of patients with *** experiments show that RBM47 plays an oncogenic role in NPC ***,RBM47 binds to the promoter and regulates the transcription of BCAT1,and its overexpression partially rescues the inhibitory effects of RBM47-knockdown on NPC ***,transcriptome analysis reveals that RBM47 regulates alternative splicing of pre-m RNA,including those cancer-related,to a large extent in NPC ***,RBM47 binds to hnRNPM and cooperatively regulates multiple splicing events in NPC *** addition,we find that knockdown of hnRNPM inhibits proliferation and migration of NPC *** study,taken together,shows that RBM47 promotes the progression of NPC through multiple pathways,acting as a transcriptional factor and a modulator of alternative splicing in cooperation with *** study also highlights that RBM47 and hnRNPM could be prognostic factors and potential therapeutic targets for NPC.

The conventional perception of astrocytes as mere supportive cells within the brain has recently been called into question by empirical evidence, which has revealed their active involvement in regulating brain function and encoding behaviors associated with ***, astrocytes in the basolateral amygdala have been found to play a role in the modulation of anxiety-like behaviors triggered by chronic stress. Nevertheless, the precise molecular mechanisms by which basolateral amygdala astrocytes regulate chronic stress–induced anxiety-like behaviors remain to be fully elucidated. In this study, we found that in a mouse model of anxiety triggered by unpredictable chronic mild stress, the expression of excitatory amino acid transporter 2 was upregulated in the basolateral amygdala. Interestingly, our findings indicate that the targeted knockdown of excitatory amino acid transporter 2 specifically within the basolateral amygdala astrocytes was able to rescue the anxiety-like behavior in mice subjected to stress. Furthermore, we found that the overexpression of excitatory amino acid transporter 2 in the basolateral amygdala, whether achieved through intracranial administration of excitatory amino acid transporter 2agonists or through injection of excitatory amino acid transporter 2-overexpressing viruses with GfaABC1D promoters, evoked anxiety-like behavior in mice. Our single-nucleus RNA sequencing analysis further confirmed that chronic stress induced an upregulation of excitatory amino acid transporter 2 specifically in astrocytes in the basolateral amygdala. Moreover, through in vivo calcium signal recordings, we found that the frequency of calcium activity in the basolateral amygdala of mice subjected to chronic stress was higher compared with normal *** knocking down the expression of excitatory amino acid transporter 2 in the basolateral amygdala, the frequency of calcium activity was not significantly increased, and anxiety-like behavior was ob
