Preliminary analysis of reactivity reconstruction capability based on inverse kinetics method under different initial reactivity states

Online reactivity monitoring plays an important role in operation and safety analyses of fission reactor systems. The inverse kinetics method, which is based on a point kinetics model, is the most widely used method for reactivity reconstruction of critical water reactors. However, this method is seldom applied to the reactivity reconstruction of subcritical reactors. In this study, an inverse kinetics method was employed for the reactivity reconstruction of a lead-based reactor under different initial reactivity states(ρ_0= 0,-2786,-5486,-8367, and-12,371 pcm). The results showed that the deviation in the reactivity of the lead-based subcritical reactor was greater when ρ_0 became smaller. The reactivity reconstructed using the inverse kinetics method was globally underestimated. At a given reactivity perturbation, the relative and absolute errors increased with the decrease in the initial reactivity. At a given initial reactivity, with the increase in the reactivity perturbation, the absolute error increased, whereas the relative error remained the *** deviation is due to the variation in the external neutron source, spatial-spectral effects, and sub-diffusive effects, which require further study.

Investigation of bubbles escape behavior from low basicity mold flux for high-Mn high-Al steels using 3D X-ray microscope

During the continuous casting process of high-Mn high-Al steels,various types of gases such as Ar need to escape through the top of the *** which,the behavior of bubbles traversing the liquid slag serves as a restrictive link,closely associated with viscosity and the thickness of liquid *** contrast to two-dimensional surface observation,three-dimensional(3D)analysis method can offer a more intuitive,accurate,and comprehensive ***,this study employs a 3D X-ray microscope(3D-XRM)to obtained spatial distribution and 3D morphological characteristics of residual bubbles in mold flux under different basicity of liquid slag,different temperatures,and different holding *** results indicate that as basicity of slag increases from 0.52 to 1.03,temperature increases from 1423 to 1573 K,the viscosity of slag decreases,the floating rate of bubbles *** addition,when holding time increases from 10 to 30 s,the bubbles floating distance increases,and the volume fraction and average equivalent sphere diameter of the bubbles solidified in the mold flux gradually *** one word,increasing the basicity,temperature,and holding time leading to an increase in the removal rate of bubbles especially for the *** findings of bubbles escape behavior provide valuable insights into optimizing low basicity mold flux for high-Mn high-Al steels.

The growth of dendrites and the side reactions occurring at the Zn anode pose significant challenges to the commercialization of aqueous Zn-ion batteries（AZIBs）. These challenges arise from the inherent conflict between mass transfer and electrochemical kinetics. In this study, we propose the use of a multifunctional electrolyte additive based on the xylose（Xylo） molecule to address these issues by modulating the solvation structure and electrode/electrolyte interface, thereby stabilizing the Zn anode. The introduction of the additive alters the solvation structure, creating steric hindrance that impedes charge transfer and then reduces electrochemical kinetics. Furthermore, in-situ analyses demonstrate that the reconstructed electrode/electrolyte interface facilitates stable and rapid Zn2+ion migration and suppresses corrosion and hydrogen evolution reactions. As a result, symmetric cells incorporating the Xylo additive exhibit significantly enhanced reversibility during the Zn plating/stripping process, with an impressively long lifespan of up to 1986 h, compared to cells using pure ZnSO4electrolyte. When combined with a polyaniline cathode, the full cells demonstrate improved capacity and long-term cyclic stability. This work offers an effective direction for improving the stability of Zn anode via electrolyte design, as well as highperformance AZIBs.
