To achieve the more extensive utilization of limonitic nickel laterite,the difference of sintering performance of different types of limonitic nickel laterite including high-gangue and low-gangue nickel ores was investigated by sinter pot tests and relevant mechanism analyses such as thermodynamic analysis and the chemistry and mineralogy of product *** the type of limonitic nickel laterite transformed from high-gangue to low-gangue nickel ore,tumble index and productivity are improved from 45.87%and 0.97 t m^(-2) h^(-1) to 50.16%and 1.05 t m^(-2) h^(-1),respectively,and solid fuel rate is reduced from 140.52 to 131.13 kg/t,indicating that the low-gangue nickel ore possesses relatively better sintering *** is mainly due to the fact that the much lower contents of MgO and Al2O3 improve the formation ability and fluidity of liquid phase,which eventually contributes to the formation of relatively tighter sinter microstructure with the lower sinter porosity,more silico-ferrite of calcium and alumina amount and better bonding of hercynite by liquid *** addition,the metallurgical performance and nickel content of product sinter would not be reduced as different types of limonitic nickel laterite are blended for *** this basis,it is entirely feasible to more widely utilize limonitic nickel laterite and simultaneously obtain much better-quality Ni-containing product sinter via effective sintering strengthening technologies.

Genome Analysis of the Bombyx mori Infectious Flacherie Virus Isolated in China

We reported here the complete genome of the Bombyx mori infectious flacherie virus （BmlFV）, BmlFV-CHN01, isolated in China and compared it with the Japanese strain IFV （BmIFV-JAN） sequence. BmIFV-JAN and BmIFV-CHN01 were 99% identical in nucleotide and amino acid sequences. The amino acid sequences of the three structural proteins （VP1, VP3 and VP4） and L protein were 100% identical between the two strains. Phylogenetic analyses based on conserved domains in RNA-dependent RNA polymerases （RdRps） by the neighbor-joining method showed that these two strains were from the same virus. The gain of the whole genome of the BmIFV isolated in China and its weak mutation character established a great foundation to the study of functional genome and the molecular epidemiology of BmIFV.

Thermodynamic Characteristic and Phase Evolution in Immiscible Cr–Mo Binary Alloys

This paper systematically reports the thermodynamic characteristic and phase evolution of immiscible Cr–Mo binary alloy during mechanical alloying（MA） process. The Cr–35Mo（in at%） powder mixture was milled at 243 and258 K, respectively, for different time. For comparative study, Cr–15Mo and Cr–62Mo powder mixtures were milled at 243 K for 18 h. Solid solution Cr（Mo） with body-centered cubic（bcc） crystal structure and amorphous Cr（Mo） alloy was obtained during MA process caused by high-energy ball milling. Based on the Miedema＇s model, the free-energy change for forming either a solid solution or an amorphous in Cr–Mo alloy system is positive but small at a temperature range between 200 and 300 K. The thermodynamical barrier for forming alloy in Cr–Mo system can be overcome when MA occurs at 243 K, and the supersaturated solid solution crystal nuclei with bcc structure form continually, and three supersaturated solid solutions of Cr–62Mo, Cr–35Mo and Cr–15Mo formed. Milling the Cr–35Mo powder mixture at 258 K, the solid solution Cr（Mo） forms firstly, and then the solid solution Cr（Mo） transforms into the amorphous Cr（Mo）alloy with a few of nanocrystallines when milling is prolonged. At higher milling temperature, it is favorable for the formation of the amorphous phase, as indicated by the thermodynamical calculation for immiscible Cr–Mo alloy system.

Dissipative Kerr solitons(DKS) have long been suffering from poor power conversion efficiency when driven by continuous-wave lasers. By deriving the critical coupling condition of a multimode nonlinear optics system in a generalized theoretical framework,two efficiency limitations of the conventional pump method of DKS are revealed: the effective coupling rate is too small and is also power-dependent. A general approach is provided to resolve this challenge by introducing two types of nonlinear couplers to couple the soliton cavity and CW input through nonlinear processes. The collective coupler opens multiple coupling channels and the self-adaptive coupler builds a power-independent effective external coupling rate to the DKS for approaching the generalized critical coupling condition, which promises near-unity power conversion efficiencies. For instance, a conversion efficiency exceeding 90% is predicted for aluminum nitride microrings with a nonlinear coupler utilizing second-harmonic generation. The mechanism applies to various nonlinear processes, including Raman and Brillouin scattering, and thus paves the way for micro-solitons toward practical applications.

The major pathological changes in Alzheimer＇s disease are beta amyloid deposits and cognitive impairment. Calycosin is a typical phy- toestrogen derived from radix astragali that binds to estrogen receptors to produce estrogen-like effects. Radix astragali Calycosin has been shown to relieve cognitive impairment induced by diabetes mellitus, suggesting calycosin may improve the cognitive function of Alzhei- mer＇s disease patients. The protein kinase C pathway is upstream of the mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway and exerts a neuropro- tective effect by regulating Alzheimer＇s disease-related beta amyloid degradation. We hypothesized that calycosin improves the cognitive function of a transgenic mouse model of Alzheimer＇s disease by activating the protein kinase C pathway. Various doses of calycosin （10, 20 and 40 mg/kg） were intraperitoneally injected into APP/PS1 transgenic mice that model Alzheimer＇s disease. Calycosin diminished hippocampal beta amyloid, Tau protein, interleukin-lbeta, tumor necrosis factor-alpha, acetylcholinesterase and malondialdehyde levels in a dose-dependent manner, and increased acetylcholine and glutathione activities. The administration of a protein kinase C inhibitor, cal- phostin C, abolished the neuroprotective effects of calycosin including improving cognitive ability, and anti-oxidative and anti-inflammato- ry effects. Our data demonstrated that calycosin mitigated oxidative stress and inflammatory responses in the hippocampus of Alzheimer＇s disease model mice by activating the protein kinase C pathway, and thereby improving cognitive function.

We investigate the collective synchronization of cicada chirping. Using both experimental and phenomeno- logical numerical techniques, here we show that the onset of a periodic two-state acoustic synchronous behavior in cicada chorus depends on a critical size of population Nc=21, above which a typical chorus state appears periodically with a 30 second-silence state in between, and further clarify its possibility concerning a new class of phase transition, which is unusually driven by population. This work has relevance to acoustic synchronization and to general physics of phase transition.

Polycrystalline BiFe_(1-x)Mn_(x)O_(3) films with x up to 0.50 are prepared on LaNiO3 buffered surface oxidized Si *** doped Mn is confirmed to be partially in a+4 valence state.A clear exchange bias effect is observed with a 3.6 nm Ni_(81)Fe_(19) layer deposited on the top BiFe_(1-x)Mn_(x)O_(3) layer,which decreases drastically with increasing Mn doping concentration and finally to zero when x is above *** results clearly demonstrate that the exchange bias field comes from the net spins due to the canted antiferromagnetic spin structure in polycrystalline BiFe_(1-x)Mn_(x)O_(3) films,which transforms to a collinear antiferromagnetic spin structure when the Mn doping concentration is larger than 0.20.

Due to the complexity of real environments,it is hard to detect toxic and harmful gases by *** address such an issue,an artificial olfactory system is promoted,emulating the function of the human nose by means of gas sensors and an inference *** this work,an artificial olfactory inference system based on memristive devices is developed to classify four gases(ethanol,methane,ethylene,and carbon monoxide)with 10 different ***,the spike trains converted from signals of the sensor array are inputted to a reservoir computing(RC)system based on volatile memristive devices,which extracts spatiotemporal features;then the features are processed by a classifier based on nonvolatile memristive devices;the output of the classifier indicates the classification ***,to reduce the device number and the power consumption,three strategies are applied to reduce the extracted features from the RC ***,the olfactory inference system successfully identifies the gases with a high accuracy of 95%.
