N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor effects on p38 mitogen activated protein kinase and its role in a rat model of diabetic neuropathic pain

BACKGROUND： Activated N-methyl-D-aspartate （NMDA） receptor is involved in the formation of chronic neuropathic pain, and its antagonist, ketamine, exhibits effective amelioration of diabetic neuropathic pain （DNP）. However, the mechanisms of NMDA receptor participation in the formation and maintenance of DNP remain poorly understood. OBJECTIVE： To evaluate the role NMDA receptor plays in DNP and effects on p38 mitogen activated protein kinase （p38 MAPK） in a rat model of DNP. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING： A randomized, controlled, animal experiment was performed at the Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research Institute of Yunyang Medical College Affiliated Taihe Hospital between July 2005 and September 2007. MATERIALS： Streptozotocin was provided by Sigma, USA; p38 MAPK inhibitor （SB203580） was provided by Shanghai KangChen Biotech, China; NMDA receptor antagonist （MK-801） was purchased from Shanghai Yope Biotech, China. METHODS： A total of 128 healthy, Wistar rats of clean grade, aged 3 months and weighing 180- 220 g, were randomly assigned to 4 groups： control, DNP model, p38 MAPK, and NMDA receptor. Each group contained 32 rats. DNP was established in all groups except for the control group by intraperitoneal injection of streptozocin （65 mg/kg）. Subsequently, 1 mg/kg SB203580 and 1 mg/kg MK-801 were injected once each week via intraperitoneal injection in the p38 MAPK and NMDA receptor groups, respectively. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES： At the end of 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks following streptozotocin injection, mechanical withdrawal threshold was measured in 8 animals from each group following von Frey filament stimulation. The rats were anesthetized and nerve conduction velocity of the left sciatic nerve was measured. Subsequently, the right sciatic nerve, the lumbar segment of the spinal cord, and dorsal root ganglia were removed from the L3-6 segment for microscopic examination, p38 MAPK expression was determined using immunohistochemistry and Western blot analysis. To reveal the characteristics of evapotranspiration and environmental control factors of typical underlying surfaces(alpine wetland and alpine meadow)on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau,a comprehensive study was performed via in situ observations and remote sensing data in the growing season and non-growing *** was positively correlated with precipitation,the decoupling coefficient,and the enhanced vegetation index,but was energy-limited and mainly controlled by the vapor pressure deficit and solar radiation at an annual scale and growing season scale,*** with the non-growing season,monthly evapotranspiration,equilibrium evaporation,and decoupling coefficient were greater in the growing season due to lower vegetation resistance and considerable ***,these factors were restricted in the alpine *** decoupling factor was more sensitive to changes of conductance in the alpine *** study is of great significance for understanding hydro-meteorological processes on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau.

Fluctuations of Water Table Level in a Subtropical Peatland,Central China

Water level is the overriding control on carbon cycles in peatlands, which are important for global carbon cycles and ecosystem services. To date, our knowledge of the pattern of water level fluctuations in peatlands and the influence of precipitation and air temperature on them in the subtropical remains poor. In this study, we conducted continuous high-resolution monitoring of water levels from 2014 to 2021 in the Dajiuhu peatland, a typically subtropical peatland in central China. Monitoring results showed that the water level had strong annual(370 days) and seasonal(130 days) oscillations in the Dajiuhu peatland. The annual oscillation is associated with both precipitation and temperature, while the seasonal oscillation is mainly controlled by precipitation. In addition, the depth of peat surface to the water table(DWT) has weak but significant correlations with precipitation and temperature on the daily and weekly scales(r = 0.1–0.21, P < 0.01). Once replacing DWT with water table fluctuation cumulation, the correlation coefficients increase apparently(r = 0.47–0.69, P < 0.01), especially on the monthly scale. These findings highlight a more important role of the fluctuation than the mean position of water level and have the potential to improve the interpretation of water-level related paleoenvironmental proxies and the understanding of the relationship between water level and biogeochemical processes.

Precise Control of Highly Ordered Arrays of Nested Semiconductor/Metal Nanotubes

Lithographically defined microporous templates in conjunction with the atomic layer deposition （ALD） technique enable remarkable control of complex novel nested nanotube structures. So far three-dimensional control of physical process parameters has not been fully realized with high precision resolution, and requires optimization in order to achieve a wider range of potential applications. Furthermore, the combination of composite insulating oxide layers alternating with semiconducting layers and metals can provide various types of novel applications and eventually provide unique and advanced levels of multifunctional nanoscale devices. Semiconducting TiO2 nanotubes have potential applications in photovoltaic devices. The combination of nanostructured semiconducting materials with nested metal nanotubes has the potential to produce novel multi functional vertically-ordered three-dimensional nanodevices. Platinum growth by ALD has been explored, covering the initial stages of the thin film nucleation process and the synthesis of high aspect ratio nanotube structures. The penetration depth of the Pt into porous templates having various pore sizes and aspect ratios has been investigated. Several multi-walled nested TiO2-Pt nanotubes in series have been successfully fabricated using microporous Si templates. These innovative nested nanostructures have the potential to produce novel multifunctional vertically-ordered three-dimensional nanodevices in photovoltaic and sensing technologies.

Boosting selective C_(2)H_(2)/CH_(4),C_(2)H_(4)/CH_(4) and CO_(2)/CH_(4) adsorption performance via 1,2,3-triazole functionalized triazine-based porous organic polymers

Nitrogen-rich porous organic polymers have shown great potentials in gas adsorption/separation,photocatalysis,electrochemistry,sensing and so ***,1,2,3-triazole functionalized triazine-based porous organic polymers(TT-POPs)have been synthesized by the copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition(Cu-AAC)polymerization reactions of 1,3,5-tris(4-azidophenyl)-triazine with 1,4-diacetylene benzene and 1,3,5-triacetylenebenzene,*** characterizations of N2 adsorption at 77 K show TTPOPs possess permanent porosity with BET surface areas of 666 m^(2)·g^(-1)(TT-POP-1)and 406 m^(2)·g^(-1)(TT-POP-2).The adsorption capacities of TT-POPs for CO_(2),CH4,C2H2 and C2H4,as well as the selective separation abilities of CO_(2)/N2,CO_(2)/CH_(4),C_(2)H_(2)/CH_(4) and C_(2)H_(4)/CH_(4) were *** gas selective separation ratio of TT-POPs was calculated by the ideal adsorbed solution theory(IAST)method,wherein the selective separation ratios of C_(2)H_(2)/CH_(4) and C_(2)H_(4)/CH_(4) of TT-POP-2 was 48.4 and 13.6(298 K,0.1 MPa),which is comparable to other adsorbents(5.6–120.6 for C_(2)H_(2)/CH_(4),10–26 for C_(2)H_(4)/CH_(4)).This work shows that the 1,2,3-triazole functionalized triazine-based porous organic polymer has a good application prospect in natural gas purification.

Edwardsiella ictaluri is known as the etiological agent of Red-head disease of yellow catfish(Pelteobagrus fulvidraco),and is the cause of heavy economic losses in the aquaculture *** this study,a DotEnzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay(Dot-ELISA)and an Indirect Fluorescence Antibody technique(IFAT)for detecting Edwardsiella ictaluri were developed by using a monoclonal antibody,*** DotELISA,the working dilutions of 5D11 and the secondary antisera(enzyme-labeled goat anti-mouse Ig)were 1:320 dilution and 1:3000 dilution,*** IFAT,the working dilutions of 5D11 and goatanti-mouse Ig conjugated with fluorescein isothiocyanate were as respectively 1:80 and 1:*** of the methods established were highly sensitivity(Minimum detectable concentration,5107 CFU/mL)and had a high degree of accuracy(positive rate was 100%for both artificial infected fish and spontaneous diseased Pelteobagrus fulvidraco).The two reliable methods developed have high potential for quick and efficient detection of Edwardsiella ictaluri in aquaculture production units.

The generalized phonon density of states(PDOS)and the valence electron density of states(EDOS)of the amorphous Fe_(90-x)Co_(x)Zr_(10)(x=4,10 and 40)alloys were measured at the room temperature by inelastic neutron-scattering and x-ray photoemission spectroscopy,*** results show that the stronger the Invar effect,the softer is the PDOS in the low-energy region and the larger is the EDOS at the Fermi energy *** enhancement of electron-phonon interaction was suggested to explain the low-energy phonon softening observed in Invar alloys.
