Surface demineralized freeze-dried bone allograft followed by reimplantation in a failed mandibular dental implant

The removal of a failed implant with high torque causes significant damage to the surrounding tissue,compromising bone regeneration and subsequent osseointegration in the defect area.Here,we report a case of carrier screw fracture followed by immediate implant removal,bone grafting and delayed reimplantation.A dental implant with a fractured central carrier screw was removed using the bur-forceps technique.The resulting three-wall bone defect was filled with granular surface demineralized freeze-dried bone allograft(SD-FDBA).Cone-beam computerized tomography was performed at 1week,6months and 15months postoperatively and standardized for quantitative evaluation.The alveolar bone width and height at 15months post-surgery were about 91%of the original values,with a slightly lower bone density,calculated using the gray value ratio.The graft site was reopened and was found to be completely healed with dense and vascularized bone along with some residual bone graft.Reimplantation followed by restoration was performed 8months later.The quality of regenerated bone following SD-FDBA grafting was adequate for osseointegration and longterm implant success.The excellent osteogenic properties of SD-FDBA are attributed to its human origin,cortical bone-like structure,partly demineralized surfaces and bone morphogenetic protein-2-containing nature.Further investigation with more cases and longer follow-up was required to confirm the final clinical effect.

Lineage reprogramming of fibroblasts into induced cardiac progenitor cells by CRISPR/Cas9-based transcriptional activators

Overexpression of exogenous lineage-determining factors succeeds in directly reprogramming fibroblasts to various cell types.Several studies have reported reprogramming of fibroblasts into induced cardiac progenitor cells(iCPCs).CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene activation is a potential approach for cellular reprogramming due to its high precision and multiplexing capacity.Here we show lineage reprogramming to iCPCs through a dead Cas9(dCas9)-based transcription activation system.Targeted and robust activation of endogenous cardiac factors,including GATA4,HAND2,MEF2 C and TBX5(G,H,M and T;GHMT),can reprogram human fibroblasts toward iCPCs.The iCPCs show potentials to differentiate into cardiomyocytes,smooth muscle cells and endothelial cells in vitro.Addition of MEIS1 to GHMT induces cell cycle arrest in G2/M and facilitates cardiac reprogramming.Lineage reprogramming of human fibroblasts into iCPCs provides a promising cellular resource for disease modeling,drug discovery and individualized cardiac cell therapy.

通过重矿物直观比对法确定了莺歌海盆地黄流组一段沉积物中各物源区的重矿物特征,并初步认识了其古母岩特征。研究区周围存在三大主要物源区,即海南岛、越南北部(红河)及越南中部。结果表明,越南物源以铁矿物、钛矿等沉积岩型重矿物组合为主;海南物源以锆石、电气石、金红石等酸性火山岩型重矿物组合为主。基于余弦距离及皮尔森相关系数的谱系聚类结果表明,莺歌海盆地黄流组一段锆石、电气石、金红石、锐钛矿、白钛矿等矿物受成岩作用影响较小,为该时期的稳定矿物组合。综合稳定重矿物复杂拓扑网络、地震属性、地震剖面及锆石年龄等方法对主导物源区进行划分,确定了莺歌海盆地东方13区及东方1区的部分扇体主要受控于越北红河物源,东方13区及东方29区的绝大多数扇体主要受越中物源及海南北部物源的双重影响,乐东区受控于海南南部物源。基于海南南部物源的古物源分布模式,建立了重矿物-地震特征-锆石年代学的物源识别方法。

在通过横隔板连接的双倒T型钢腹板上部开槽,并将开槽腹板部分嵌入到混凝土翼板,与底部钢筋共同形成带有榫结构连接的腹板嵌入式双倒T型钢-混组合梁。设计了该试件的受弯性能试验,分析总结了试件的破坏模式,并基于荷载-挠度曲线和应变分布特征等试验结果对其承载力和延性等力学指标进行评估。该梁满足完全抗剪连接,具有良好的整体抗弯性能。根据试验及有限元模拟结果,提出了抗弯承载力设计方法,试验结果与理论计算结果误差为2.7%,结果吻合较好,该理论公式可作为结构设计的依据。

贵州黔西北地区煤矿资源丰富,因煤矿开采导致城市地下地质结构变化从而引发安全问题。城市地下空间是城市未来发展的重要增长极,拟建城市规划区地下空间地质结构的识别及评价工作极为重要。文中提出基于电场理论、采空区氧化还原环境及煤区地质规律,综合电阻率、电流、自然电位等多个电参数对采煤区拟建城市区地质结构快速识别的方法,并对强风化层、老窑采空区、煤矿采空区等地质结构特征进行评价。取得成果与实地踏勘、已有工程一致,可为城区建设场地地质灾害危险性评价和地下空间开发利用提供重要依据。该方法具有无损、高效、绿色、低成本等优势,值得进一步研究推广。

Nature-inspired surface topography: design and function

Learning from nature has traditionally and continuously provided important insights to drive a paradigm shift in technology.In particular,recent studies show that many biological organisms exhibit spectacular surface topography such as shape,size,spatial organization,periodicity,interconnectivity,and hierarchy to endow them with the capability to adapt dynamically and responsively to a wide range of environments.More excitingly,in a broader perspective,these normally neglected topological features have the potential to fundamentally change the way of how engineering surface works,such as how fluid flows,how heat is transported,and how energy is generated,saved,and converted,to name a few.Thus,the design of nature-inspired surface topography for unique functions will spur new thinking and provide paradigm shift in the development of the new engineering surfaces.In this review,we first present a brief introduction to some insights extracted from nature.Then,we highlight recent progress in designing new surface topographies and demonstrate their applications in emerging areas including thermal-fluid transport,anti-icing,water harvesting,power generation,adhesive control,and soft robotics.Finally,we offer our perspectives on this emerging field,with the aim to stimulate new thinking on the development of next-generation of new materials and devices,and dramatically extend the boundaries of traditional engineering.

Does Success Breed Success?A Study on the Correlation between Impact Factor and Quantity in Chinese Academic Journals

Purpose:This paper studies the relationship between the impact factor(IF)and the number of journal papers in Chinese publishing system.Design/methodology/approach:The method proposed by Huang(2016)is used whereas to analysis the data of Chinese journals in this study.Findings:Based on the analysis,we find the following.(1)The average impact factor(AIF)of journals in all disciplines maintained a growth trend from 2007 to 2017.Whether before or after removing outlier journals that may garner publication fees,the IF and its growth rate for most social sciences disciplines are larger than those of most natural sciences disciplines,and the number of journal papers on social sciences disciplines decreased while that of natural sciences disciplines increased from 2007 to 2017.(2)The removal of outlier journals has a greater impact on the relationship between the IF and the number of journal papers in some disciplines such as Geosciences because there may be journals that publish many papers to garner publication fees.(3)The success-breeds-success(SBS)principle is applicable in Chinese journals on natural sciences disciplines but not in Chinese journals on social sciences disciplines,and the relationship is the reverse of the SBS principle in Economics and Education&Educational Research.(4)Based on interviews and surveys,the difference in the relationship between the IF and the number of journal papers for Chinese natural sciences disciplines and Chinese social sciences disciplines may be due to the influence of the international publishing system.Chinese natural sciences journals are losing their academic power while Chinese social sciences journals that are less influenced by the international publishing system are in fierce competition.Research limitation:More implications could be found if long-term tracking and comparing the international publishing system with Chinese publishing system are taken.Practical implications:It is suggested that researchers from different countries study natural science and social science

Near-infrared stimulated emission from a high-quality InN layer under optical pumping was observed with a threshold excitation power density of 0.3 and 4 kW cm^(−2) at T=8 and 77 K,respectively.To achieve such a low threshold power density,vicinal GaN substrates were used to reduce the edge-component threading dislocation(ETD)density of the InN film.Cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy images reveal that the annihilation of ETDs can be divided into two steps,and the ETD density can be reduced to approximately 5×10^(8) cm^(−2) near the surface of the 5-μm-thick film.The well-resolved phonon replica of the band-to-band emission in the photoluminescence spectra at 9 K confirm the high quality of the InN film.As a result,the feasibility of InN-based photonic structures and the underlying physics of their growth and emission properties are demonstrated.

Congestion is an economic phenomenon of overinvestment that occurs when excessive inputs decrease the maximally possible outputs.Although decision-makers are unlikely to decrease outputs by increasing inputs,congestion is widespread in reality.Identifying and measuring congestion can help decision-makers detect the problem of overinvestment.This paper reviews the development of the concept of congestion in the framework of data envelopment analysis(DEA),which is a widely accepted method for identifying and measuring congestion.In this paper,six main congestion identification and measurement methods are analysed through several numerical examples.We investigate the ideas of these methods,the contributions compared with the previous methods,and the existing shortcomings.Based on our analysis,we conclude that existing congestion identification and measurement methods are still inadequate.Three problems are anticipated for further study:maintaining the consistency between congestion and overinvestment,considering joint weak disposability assumption between desirable outputs and undesirable outputs,and quantifying the degree of congestion.

利用广东龙门、新丰和佛冈布设的二维视频雨滴谱仪(2D-video-disdrometer,2DVD)和HY-P1000激光雨滴谱仪观测资料,分析了相同地点和相同时间两类雨滴谱仪降水滴谱观测和降水反演精度的差异。根据收集的2018年和2019年的雨滴谱观测数据,拟合了双偏振雷达定量降水估测基本关系式,并应用于S波段双偏振雷达(CINRAD/SAD)定量降水估测(quantitive precipitation estimation,QPE)优化组合方案中。结果表明:较HY-P1000雨滴谱仪而言,2DVD可观测到更多的1 mm以下的小粒子降水,但观测到的大于3.5 mm的雨滴数明显少于HY-P1000雨滴谱仪;对比由2DVD和HY-P1000观测数据计算得到的双偏振参数与CINRAD-SAD 0.5°仰角观测得到的双偏振参数,发现参数间均存在一定的差别,其中差分反射率因子差别相对较大;此外,利用2DVD观测数据可整体提升双偏振雷达QPE精度,对中雨及以下量级精度提升尤为明显。
