Germ cell-specific deletion of Pex3 reveals essential roles of PEX3-dependent peroxisomes in spermiogenesis

Peroxisomes are organelles enclosed by a single membrane and are present in various *** abruption of peroxisomes is correlated with peroxisome biogenesis disorders and single peroxisomal enzyme deficiencies that induce diverse diseases in different ***,little is known about the protein compositions and corresponding roles of heterogeneous peroxisomes in various *** transcriptomic and proteomic analyses,we observed heterogenous peroxisomal components among different organs,as well as between testicular somatic cells and different developmental stages of germ *** Pex3 is expressed in both germ cells and Sertoli cells,we generated Pex3 germ cell-and Sertoli cell-specific knockout *** Pex3 deletion in Sertoli cells did not affect spermatogenesis,the deletion in germ cells resulted in male sterility,manifested as the destruction of intercellular bridges between spermatids and the formation of multinucleated giant *** analysis of the Pex3-deleted spermatids revealed defective expressions of peroxisomal proteins and spermiogenesis-related *** findings provide new insights that PEX3-dependent peroxisomes are essential for germ cells undergoing spermiogenesis,but not for Sertoli cells.

Transcriptomic and metabolomic analysis provides insights into lignin biosynthesis and accumulation and differences in lodging resistance in hybrid wheat

The use of hybrid wheat is one way to improve the yield in the ***,greater plant heights increase lodging risk to some *** this study,two hybrid combinations with differences in lodging resistance were used to analyze the stem-related traits during the filling stage,and to investigate the mechanism of the difference in lodging resistance by analyzing lignin synthesis of the basal second internode(BSI).The stem-related traits such as the breaking strength,stem pole substantial degree(SPSD),and rind penetration strength(RPS),as well as the lignin content of the lodging-resistant combination(LRC),were significantly higher than those of the lodgingsensitive combination(LSC).The phenylpropanoid biosynthesis pathway was significantly and simultaneously enriched according to the transcriptomics and metabolomics analysis at the later filling stage.A total of 35 critical regulatory genes involved in the phenylpropanoid pathway were ***,42%of the identified genes were significantly and differentially expressed at the later grain-filling stage between the two combinations,among which more than 80%were strongly up-regulated at that stage in the LRC compared with *** the contrary,the LRC displayed lower contents of lignin intermediate metabolites than the *** results suggested that the key to the lodging resistance formation of LRC is largely the higher lignin synthesis at the later grain-filling ***,breeding strategies for synergistically improving plant height and lodging resistance of hybrid wheat were put forward by comparing the LRC with the conventional wheat applied in large areas.

The land use and land cover change database and its relative studies in China

In the mid-1990s, we established the national operative dynamic information serving systems on natural resources and environment. During building the land-use/land-cover change (LUCC) database for the mid-1990s, 520 scenes of remotely sensed images of Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM) were interpreted into land-use/land-cover categories at scale of 1:100,000 under overall digital software environment after being geo-referenced and ortho-rectified. The vector map of land-use/land-cover in China at the scale of 1:100,000 was recently converted into a 1-km raster database that captures all of the high-resolution land-use information by calculating area percentage for each kind of land use category within every cell. Being designed as an operative dynamic information serving system, monitoring the change in land-use/land-cover at national level was executed. We have completed the updating of LUCC database by comparing the TM data in the mid-1990s with new data sources received during 1999–2000 and 1989–1990. The LUCC database has supported greatly the national LUCC research program in China and some relative studies are incompletely reviewed in this paper.

对农作物和畜牧业生产系统中的剩余秸秆和粪便进行生物能源化利用,不仅有利于缓解作物—牲畜系统农业剩余物排放对环境造成的压力,还能通过最终产品的使用来抵消相关的温室气体排放。本文构建了一个作物—牲畜—生物能源一体化的综合系统框架,基于生命周期评价法估算了2010—2019年中国及各省份作物和畜牧生产系统中各过程的温室气体排放清单;对比了作物—牲畜—生物能源综合系统和传统系统在不同生产环节的排放差异,评估了综合系统对农业源温室气体排放的环境影响。研究结果显示:(1)作物秸秆管理、牲畜肠道发酵和作物生产能源消耗贡献了基准情景下中国主要的农业源温室气体排放,作物和牲畜系统中温室气体来源呈现出显著的地区差异。(2)环境影响强度在部分地区或省份呈现波动变化趋势,其中,华东地区的排放强度下降幅度较大(-0.73×10^(-2)),新疆的增幅最大(0.63×10^(-2))。(3)作物和畜牧生产系统中可利用的剩余秸秆和粪便数量可观,综合系统对农业源温室气体排放起到缓解作用,全国范围内缓解程度不同,最大时可减缓约67%的环境影响。

Diatomic Pd catalyst with conjugated backbone for synergistic electrochemical CO_(2)reduction

Double-site catalysts have attracted widespread attention in the field of electrocatalysis due to their high metal loading,adjustable active centres,and electronic valence ***,the development of bimetallic sites catalysts that coordinate with definite atoms is still in the exploratory ***,we designed and synthesized a bimetallic palladium complex(BPB-Pd_(2))with conjugated *** supported BPB-Pd_(2)was applied to electrochemical CO_(2)reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR)for the first *** as-obtained BPB-Pd_(2)gives an exceptional Faradaic efficiency of CO(FECO)of 94.4%at−0.80 V *** hydrogen electrode(RHE),which is significantly superior to monoatomic palladium catalyst(BPB-Pd1).The density functional theory(DFT)calculations revealed that the essential reason for the outstanding activity of BPB-Pd_(2)toward CO_(2)RR was that the electronic effect between diatomic palladium reduces the free energy change for CO_(2)RR ***,BPB-Pd_(2)exhibits moderate free energy change to form COOH*intermediate,which was beneficial for the generation of CO in CO_(2)RR.

N-doped graphene quantum dot-decorated N-TiO2/P-doped porous hollow g-C_(3)N_(4) nanotube composite photocatalysts for antibiotic photodegradation and H2 production

Exclusive responsiveness to ultraviolet light (~3.2 eV) and high photogenerated charge recombination rate are the two primary drawbacks of pure TiO_(2). We combined N-doped graphene quantum dots (N-GQDs), morphology regulation, and heterojunction construction strategies to synthesize N-GQD/N-doped TiO_(2)/P-doped porous hollow g-C_(3)N_(4) nanotube (PCN) composite photocatalysts (denoted as G-TPCN). The optimal sample (G-TPCN doped with 0.1wt% N-GQD, denoted as 0.1% G-TPCN) exhibits significantly enhanced photoabsorption, which is attributed to the change in bandgap caused by elemental doping (P and N), the improved light-harvesting resulting from the tube structure, and the upconversion effect of N-GQDs. In addition, the internal charge separation and transfer capability of0.1% G-TPCN are dramatically boosted, and its carrier concentration is 3.7, 2.3, and 1.9 times that of N-TiO_(2), PCN, and N-TiO_(2)/PCN(TPCN-1), respectively. This phenomenon is attributed to the formation of Z-scheme heterojunction between N-TiO_(2) and PCNs, the excellent electron conduction ability of N-GQDs, and the short transfer distance caused by the porous nanotube structure. Compared with those of N-TiO_(2), PCNs, and TPCN-1, the H2 production activity of 0.1%G-TPCN under visible light is enhanced by 12.4, 2.3, and 1.4times, respectively, and its ciprofloxacin (CIP) degradation rate is increased by 7.9, 5.7, and 2.9 times, respectively. The optimized performance benefits from excellent photoresponsiveness and improved carrier separation and migration efficiencies. Finally, the photocatalytic mechanism of 0.1% G-TPCN and five possible degradation pathways of CIP are proposed. This study clarifies the mechanism of multiple modification strategies to synergistically improve the photocatalytic performance of 0.1% G-TPCN and provides a potential strategy for rationally designing novel photocatalysts for environmental remediation and solar energy conversion.

Recently,Yu and co-workers deeply explore the potential impact of free electron transfer between co-catalysts and photocatalyst carriers on H_(2)evolution efficiency of active sites over MoS_(2+x).They pro-pose an electron-reversal tactics to evade the unexpected electron transfer and synchronously regulate the above transfer in a beneficial orientation for weakening hydrogen adsorption on S ***,this highlight not only discusses and summarizes the essences of electron reversal and the optimized H ad-sorption/desorption mechanism,but also emphasizes the significance of femtosecond transient absorp-tion spectroscopy(fs-TAS)and in-situ irradiated X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(ISI-XPS)for revealing charge transfer dynamics and *** anticipate that this highlight can disseminate a new per-spective on the roles of photocatalyst carriers in improving cocatalytic H_(2)-production kinetics.

Inter-well internal resonance analysis of rectangular asymmetric cross-ply bistable composite laminated cantilever shell under transverse foundation excitation

Oxygen reduction electrocatalysis:From conventional to single-atomic platinum-based catalysts for proton exchange membrane fuel cells

Platinum(Pt)-based materials are still the most efficient and practical catalysts to drive the sluggish kinetics of cathodic oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)in proton exchange membrane fuel cells(PEMFCs).However,their catalysis and stability performance still need to be further improved in terms of corrosion of both carbon support and Pt catalyst particles as well as Pt loading *** on the developed synthetic strategies of alloying/nanostructuring Pt particles and modifying/innovating supports in developing conventional Pt-based catalysts,Pt single-atom catalysts(Pt SACs)as the recently burgeoning hot materials with a potential to achieve the maximum utilization of Pt are comprehensively reviewed in this *** design thoughts and synthesis of various isolated,alloyed,and nanoparticlecontained Pt SACs are *** single-atomic Pt coordinating with non-metals and alloying with metals as well as the metal-support interactions of Pt single-atoms with carbon/non-carbon supports are emphasized in terms of the ORR activity and stability of the *** advance further research and development of Pt SACs for viable implementation in PEMFCs,various technical challenges and several potential research directions are outlined.
