Effect of CO_(2) dilution on laminar burning velocities,combustion characteristics and NO_(x) emissions of CH_(4)/air mixtures

The laminar combustion characteristics of CH_(4)/air premixed flames with CO_(2) addition are systemically studied.Experimental measurements and numerical simulations of the laminar burning velocity(LBV)are performed in CH_(4)/CO_(2)/Air flames with various CO_(2) doping ratio under equivalence ratios of 1.0–1.4.GRI 3.0 mech and Aramco mech are employed for predicting LBV,adiabatic flame temperature(AFT),important intermediate radicals(CH_(3),H,OH,O)and NO_(x) emissions(NO,NO_(2),N2O),as well as the sensitivity analysis is also conducted.The detail analysis of experiment and simulation reveals that as the CO_(2) addition increases from 0%to 40%,the LBVs and AFTs decrease monotonously.Under the same CO_(2) doping ratio,the LBVs and AFTs increase first and then decrease with the increase of equivalence ratio,and the maximum of LBV is reached at equivalence ratio of 1.05.The mole fraction tendency of important intermediates and NO_(x) with equivalence ratio and CO_(2) doping ratio are similar to the LBVs and AFTs.Reaction H+O_(2)⇔O+OH is found to be responsible for the promotion of the generation of important intermediates and NO_(x) under the equivalence ratios and CO_(2) addition through sensitivity analysis.The sensitivity coefficients of elementary reactions that the increasing of CO_(2) doping ratio promotes or inhibits formation of intermediate radicals and NO_(x) decreases.

In this study,a microscopic method for calculating the nuclear level density(NLD)based on the covariant density functional theory(CDFT)is developed.The particle-hole state density is calculated by a combinatorial method using single-particle level schemes obtained from the CDFT,and the level densities are then obtained by considering collective effects such as vibration and rotation.Our results are compared with those of other NLD models,including phenomenological,microstatisti-cal and nonrelativistic Hartree–Fock–Bogoliubov combinatorial models.This comparison suggests that the general trends among these models are essentially the same,except for some deviations among the different NLD models.In addition,the NLDs obtained using the CDFT combinatorial method with normalization are compared with experimental data,including the observed cumulative number of levels at low excitation energies and the measured NLDs.The CDFT combinatorial method yields results that are in reasonable agreement with the existing experimental data.

Dear editor,Dimethylamine borane(DMAB,CAS no.74-94-2),also called boron-dimethylamine complex,is a white crystalline solid.It has an amine odour under mild conditions.[1]As an excellent reducing agent,DMAB is widely used in the semiconductor industry,pharmaceutical manufacturing,[2]oligomer and polymer production,and hydrogen storage.[3]Acute DMAB exposure may cause eye or respiratory irritation,throat discomfort,vomiting,diarrhoea,and pulmonary oedema.[1,4]Isolated reports indicated that DMAB exposure causes acute cerebellar oedema and peripheral neuropathy.[1,5,6]Herein,we report a case of DMAB poisoning via dermal absorption in which the central and peripheral nervous systems were the primary sites of toxic injury.We highlight the use of brain magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)and electromyography(EMG)for evaluation after exposure.

Dear editor,According to the China’s National Standard Diagnostic Criteria of Occupational Diseases,occupational acute chemical poisoning refers to the short-term exposure of workers to several chemicals during production,resulting in corresponding organ damage.Herein,we report a case of chemical eye injuries and aspiration pneumonia caused by acute chemical poisoning in the chemical industry.

Sepsis is a potentially fatal condition characterized by the failure of one or more organs due to a disordered host response to infection.The development of sepsis is closely linked to immune dysfunction.As a result,immunotherapy has gained traction as a promising approach to sepsis treatment,as it holds the potential to reverse immunosuppression and restore immune balance,thereby improving the prognosis of septic patients.However,due to the highly heterogeneous nature of sepsis,it is crucial to carefully select the appropriate patient population for immunotherapy.This review summarizes the current and evolved treatments for sepsis-induced immunosuppression to enhance clinicians'understanding and practical application of immunotherapy in the management of sepsis.

As state-of-the-art electrochemical energy conversion and storage(EECS)techniques,fuel cells and rechargeable batteries have achieved great success in the past decades.However,modern societies’ever-growing demand in energy calls for EECS devices with high efficiency and enhanced performance,which mainly rely on the rational design of catalysts,electrode materials,and electrode/electrolyte interfaces in EESC,based on in-deep and comprehensive mechanistic understanding of the relevant electrochemical redox reactions.Such an understanding can be realized by monitoring the dynamic redox reaction processes under realistic operation conditions using in situ techniques,such as in situ Raman,Fourier transform infrared(FTIR),and X-ray diffraction(XRD)spectroscopy.These techniques can provide characteristic spectroscopic information of molecules and/or crystals,which are sensitive to structure/phase changes resulted from different electrochemical working conditions,hence allowing for intermediates identification and mechanisms understanding.This review described and summarized recent progress in the in situ studies of fuel cells and rechargeable batteries via Raman,FTIR,and XRD spectroscopy.The applications of these in situ techniques on typical electrocatalytic electrooxidation reaction and oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)in fuel cells,on representative high capacity and/or resource abundance cathodes and anodes,and on the solid electrolyte interface(SEI)in rechargeable batteries are discussed.We discuss how these techniques promote the development of novel EECS systems and highlight their critical importance in future EECS research.

Radical operation for hilar cholangiocarcinoma(HCCA)is the most effective treatment,but high rates of severe postoperative complication and death remain concerns due to the complexity of biliary and vascular anatomy of the hepatobiliary region.De-layed arterial hemorrhage(DAH)occurring>24 h postoperatively usually causes life-threatening bleeding,and relaparotomy for DAH would be difficult and hazardous because of postoperative adhe-sions and critical general condition.As endovascular technique is less invasive and has improved over the recent decades,clini-cians have begun to prefer endovascular treatment(EVT)to surgi-cal treatment of DAH after hepatobiliary pancreatic surgery.How-ever,to our knowledge,a relatively large series of patients dealing with the outcomes of EVT of DAH after surgery for HCCA has not been reported.Herein,we analyzed the technical and clinical out-comes of EVT in 17 patients to evaluate the efficacy and safety of EVT.

Experimental study on propagation characteristics of rotating detonation wave with kerosene fuel-rich gas

In this study, kerosene fuel-rich gas produced by the combustion in the gas generator was used as the fuel and oxygen-rich air was used as the oxidant to investigate the propagation characteristics of the rotating detonation wave (RDW). The initiation of the kerosene fuel-rich gas and propagation process of the RDW were analyzed. The influences of the oxygen content in the oxidizer, kerosene mass flow rate of the gas generator, and temperature of the kerosene fuel-rich gas on the propagation process of the RDW were studied. The experimental results revealed that the propagation velocity of the RDW could be improved by increasing the three parameters mentioned above with the kerosene mass flow rate as the strongest factor. The minimum oxygen content that could successfully initiate and maintain the stable propagation of the RDW was 32%, achieving the RDW velocity of 1141.9 m/s. The RDW mainly propagated as two-counter rotating waves and a single wave when the equivalent ratios were 0.62–0.79 and 0.85–0.87, respectively. The highest RDW velocity of 1637.2 m/s was obtained when the kerosene mass flow rate, oxygen content, and equivalent ratio were 74.6 g/s, 44%, and 0.87, respectively.
