Enhanced bifunctional catalytic activities of N-doped graphene by Ni in a 3D trimodal nanoporous nanotubular network and its ultralong cycling performance in Zn-air batteries

Free-standing and fexible air electrodes with long-lasting bifunctional activities for both the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)and the oxygen evolution reaction(OER)are crucial to the development of wearable Zn-air rechargeable batteries.In this work,we synthesize a fexible air electrode consisting of 3D nanoporous N-doped graphene with trimodal shells and Ni particles through repeated chemical vapor deposition(CVD)and acidic etching processes.Our results indicate that such trimodal graphene morphology significantly enhances the active N-dopant sites and graphene-coated Ni surface,which consequentially boosts both the ORR and OER activities,as well as catalytic durability.First-principles density functional theory(DFT)calculations reveal the synergetic effects between the Ni and the N-doped graphene;namely,the Ni nanoparticles boost the bifunctional activities of the coated N-doped graphene,and in turn the graphene-covering layers enhance the stability of Ni.Thanks to the better protection from the triple graphene shells,our trimodal N-doped graphene/Ni-based Zn-air battery can be stably discharged/recharged beyond 2500 h with low overpotentials.It is reasonable to expect that such freestanding trimodal graphene/Ni would be promising in many fexible energy conversion/storage devices.

The advent of single-cell RNA sequencing(scRNA-seq)has provided insight into the tumour immune microenvironment(TIME).This review focuses on the application of scRNA-seq in investigation of the TIME.Over time,scRNA-seq methods have evolved,and components of the TIME have been deciphered with high resolution.In this review,we first introduced the principle of scRNA-seq and compared different sequencing approaches.Novel cell types in the TIME,a continuous transitional state,and mutual intercommunication among TIME components present potential targets for prognosis prediction and treatment in cancer.Thus,we concluded novel cell clusters of cancerassociated fibroblasts(CAFs),T cells,tumour-associated macrophages(TAMs)and dendritic cells(DCs)discovered after the application of scRNA-seq in TIME.We also proposed the development of TAMs and exhausted T cells,as well as the possible targets to interrupt the process.In addition,the therapeutic interventions based on cellular interactions in TIME were also summarized.For decades,quantification of the TIME components has been adopted in clinical practice to predict patient survival and response to therapy and is expected to play an important role in the precise treatment of cancer.Summarizing the current findings,we believe that advances in technology and wide application of single-cell analysis can lead to the discovery of novel perspectives on cancer therapy,which can subsequently be implemented in the clinic.Finally,we propose some future directions in the field of TIME studies that can be aided by scRNA-seq technology.

MicroRNA-29a-3p Prevents Drug-Induced Acute Liver Failure through Inflammation-Related Pyroptosis Inhibition

Objective Little is known about the role of microRNA-29a-3p(miR-29a-3p)in inflammation-related pyroptosis,especially in drug-induced acute liver failure(DIALF).This study aimed to identify the relationship between miR-29a-3p and inflammation-related pyroptosis in DIALF and confirm its underlying mechanisms.Methods Thioacetamide(TAA)-and acetaminophen(APAP)-induced ALF mouse models were established,and human samples were collected.The expression levels of miR-29a-3p and inflammation and pyroptosis markers were measured by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR),Western blotting,or immunochemical staining in miR-29a-3p knock-in transgenic mouse(MIR29A(KI/KI))DIALF models.In addition,RNA sequencing was conducted to explore the mechanisms.Results MiR-29a-3p levels were decreased in TAA-and APAP-induced DIALF models.MiR-29a-3p prevented DIALF caused by TAA and APAP.RNA sequencing and further experiments showed that the protective effect of miR-29a-3p on DIALF was mainly achieved through inhibition of inflammation-related pyroptosis,and the inhibition was dependent on activation of the PI3K/AKT pathway.In addition,miR-29a-3p levels were reduced,and pyroptosis was activated in both peripheral blood mononuclear cells and liver tissues of DIALF patients.Conclusion The study supports the idea that miR-29a-3p inhibits pyroptosis by activating the PI3K/AKT pathway to prevent DIALF.MiR-29a-3p may be a promising therapeutic target for DIALF.

Characterization of particle size distribution of mainstream cigarette smoke generated by smoking machine with an electrical low pressure impactor

Cigarette smoking is a particle-related exposure. Studying the characteristics of the particle size distribution of cigarette smoke can aid in providing knowledge of smoke aerosol attributes. We used an electrical low pressure impactor （ELPI） to measure the particle size distribution of mainstream cigarette smoke generated by a smoking machine and provided a continuum of particle sizes of cigarette smoke from a whole cigarette. The results showed that the aerodynamic diameters （D, geometric mean of a channel） of particles ranged from 0.021 to 1.956 ~m, and the number concentrations were on the order of 105-109 cm-3 for different sizes of particles. The particle number of the size category below 0.1 p,m approximated that of the category 0.1-2.0 Ixm, and the particles in the size category of 0.1-2.0 μm contributed extremely heavily to total particulate mass. In addition, the results with small samples indicated that the tar yields normalized per milligram of nicotine showed an approximately linear increase with increasing concentration of total particles.

Using multi-band photometric images of M51 and its companion NGC 5195 from ultraviolet to optical and infrared,we investigate spatially resolved stellar population properties of this interacting system with stellar population synthesis models.The observed infrared excess(IRX)is used to constrain dust extinction.Stellar mass is also inferred from the model fitting.By fitting observed spectral energy distributions(SEDs)with synthetical ones,we derive two-dimensional distributions of stellar age,metallicity,dust extinction and stellar mass.In M51,two grand-designed spiral arms extending from the bulge show young age,rich metallicity and abundant dust.The inter-arm regions are filled with older,metalpoorer and less dusty stellar populations.Except for the spiral arm extending from M51 into NGC 5195,the stellar population properties of NGC 5195 are quite featureless.NGC 5195 is much older than M51,and its core is very dusty with AV up to 1.67 mag and dense in stellar mass surface density.The close encounters might drive the dust in the spiral arm of M51 into the center of NGC 5195.

在产品质量检验检测过程中,往往存在有很多干扰因素,我们一般无法在理想的检测条件和环境下得到测量数据。这些对测量数据产生影响的干扰因素均可看作为测量不确定度的来源。为了增加合理判定的权重,这就要求我们检测人员极力悉数找出测量不确定度的分量。该文依据GB 17945-2010《消防应急照明和疏散指示系统》和JJF 1059.1-2012《测量不确定度评定与表示》标准要求,以放电终止电压为研究对象,判辨对消防应急灯具放电试验中放电终止电压的测量结果影响的因素,并对各个分量进行科学评定,最终得出放电终止电压的测量不确定度,为相关检测实验室提供参考。

Potassium sulphate induces resistance of rice against the rootknot nematode Meloidogyne graminicola

Potassium(K),an important nutrient element,can improve the stress resistance/tolerance of crops.The application of K in resisting plant-parasitic nematodes shows that the K treatment can reduce the occurrence of nematode diseases and increase crop yield.However,data on K_(2)SO_(4)induced rice resistance against the root-knot nematode Meloidogyne graminicola are still lacking.In this work,K_(2)SO_(4)treatment reduced galls and nematodes in rice plants and delayed the development of nematodes.Rather than affecting the attractiveness of roots to nematodes and the morphological phenotype of giant cells at feeding sites,such an effect is achieved by rapidly priming hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2))accumulation and increasing callose deposition.Meanwhile,galls and nematodes in rice roots were more in the potassium channel OsAKT11 and transporter OsHAK5 gene-deficient plants than in wild-type,while the K_(2)SO_(4)-induced resistance showed weaker in the defective plants.In addition,during the process of nematode infection,the expression of jasmonic acid(JA)/ethylene(ET)/brassinolide(BR)signaling pathway-related genes and pathogenesis-related(PR)genes OsPR1 a/OsPR1 b was up-regulated in rice after K_(2)SO_(4)treatment.In conclusion,K_(2)SO_(4)induced rice resistance against M.graminicola.The mechanism of inducing resistance was to prime the basal defense and required the participation of the K^(+)channel and transporter in rice.These laid a foundation for further study on the mechanism of rice defense against nematodes and the rational use of potassium fertilizer on improving rice resistance against nematodes in the field.
