Colonic tubular duplication combined with congenital megacolon:A case report

BACKGROUND Colonic duplication refers to a spherical or tubular cavity which shows similar properties with the native colon and is attached to the mesenteric side of the alimentary *** is the rarest in alimentary tract *** upon anatomic feature,colonic duplications can be classified as spherical(cystic)or tubular,with the latter being less common(approximately 20%).Symptoms of colonic duplication are dependent on the duplication site and extent,and patient age,***,patients with colonic duplication manifest typical intestinal obstruction,potentially accompanied by recurrent dark or bright red bloody stool,varying degrees of anemia-related symptoms,and body *** SUMMARY A young male patient was admitted to our hospital due to recurrent abdominal *** definite diagnosis was achieved by computed tomography(CT)or electronic colonoscopy,and the bowel preparation efficacy was *** disease was suspected,and thus laparoscopic exploration was *** approximately 60-cm-long inverted duplicated colon with severe edema and dilation was *** originated from the mesenteric side of the transverse colon and ended in the terminal part of the descending colon with a blind *** parallel native colon had a thickened colonic wall,became stiff,and was poor in *** patient then underwent subtotal colectomy and was discharged 7 d after the *** 3 mo post-surgery to date,the patient had regular bowel movement once daily and a steady increase in body *** Tubular colonic duplication is a rare type of alimentary tract duplication that can be detected by ultrasonography,CT,or magnetic resonance imaging based on the actual clinical *** resection of aberrant colon(including the duplicated colonic segment and other potentially involved colonic segments)is the only approach to cure this medical condition.

BACKGROUND Intestinal malrotation is a congenital defect of embryonic development caused by various teratogenic *** this condition,the intestinal tube,along with the superior mesenteric artery serving as the axis for the counterclockwise movement,is incomplete or abnormally rotated due to incomplete attachment of the mesentery and abnormal intestinal tube *** a case is usually asymp-tomatic and thus difficult to ***,similar variant malformations are only found during an operation required for other abdominal *** SUMMARY An elderly male patient was admitted to the hospital due to gastric *** abdominal computed tomography(CT)scan with contrast revealed that the ascending and descending colon were parallel on the right side of the abdominal cavity,while the sigmoid colon extended into the right iliac fossa,allowing the diagnosis of congenital midgut *** thorough preoperative preparation,the patient underwent laparoscopic radical gastrectomy to treat his gastric ***,an exploration of the abdominal cavity uncovered the absence of the transverse *** distal colon at the hepatic flexure,along with the ascending colon,extended into the right iliac fossa,where it continued as the sigmoid *** planned,the laparoscopic radical gastrectomy was perform-ed,and the patient was discharged from the hospital 7 d after the *** Asymptomatic intestinal malrotation is best detected by CT,requiring no treatment but possibly interfering with the treatment of other diseases.

Acute central nervous system injuries,including ischemic stro ke,intracerebral hemorrhage,subarachnoid hemorrhage,traumatic brain injury,and spinal co rd injury,are a major global health *** optimal therapies and improving the long-term neurological functions of patients with acute central nervous system injuries are urgent *** are susceptible to damage after acute central nervous system injury,and this leads to the release of toxic levels of reactive oxygen species,which induce cell ***,a selective form of autophagy,is crucial in eliminating redundant or damaged mitochondria during these *** evidence has highlighted the significant role of mitophagy in acute central nervous system *** this review,we provide a comprehensive overview of the process,classification,and related mechanisms of *** also highlight the recent developments in research into the role of mitophagy in various acute central nervous system injuries and drug therapies that regulate *** the final section of this review,we emphasize the potential for treating these disorders by focusing on mitophagy and suggest future research paths in this area.

Thickness and sp3 bond modulation of（Ti/tetrahedral amorphous carbon）_n multilayer coatings

The durability of wear-resistant tetrahedral amorphous carbon（ta-C） coatings is intimately linked to their thickness and the concentration of *** enhance the lifespan of the coatings,we have prepared a multilayer coating consisting of alternating layers of Ti and ta-C,denoted as（Ti/ta-C）_n,using arc ion plating.A multi-layer structure in conjunction with stage cooling is employed to enhance the thickness and promote *** results indicate that the ID/IGvalue,representing the ratio of the intensity of the D peak to that of the G peak in Raman spectroscopy,decreases from 0.85 when no stage cooling is applied to 0.35 when stage cooling is employed,suggesting an enhancement in the fraction of sp3bonds within the *** obtained（Ti/ta-C）_n multilayer coating without peeling off has a maximum thickness of 1.14 μm,which is almost double that of the ta-C coating single layer *** the same time,the coating has a low coefficient of friction,down to 0.069,and maintains excellent friction properties with a wear rate of 3.4×10-6mm3·N-1·*** results conclusively show that the preparation technology can enhance both thickness and sp3bonding in ta-C coatings,significantly expanding their utility across tools,molds,and precision engineering components.

AZD1775 synergizes with SLC7A11 inhibition to promote ferroptosis

Tumor suppressor p53-mediated cell cycle arrest and DNA damage repair may exert cytoprotective effects against cancer therapies, including WEE1 inhibition. Considering that p53 activation can also lead to multiple types of cell death, the role of this tumor suppressor in WEE1 inhibitor-based therapies remains disputed. In this study, we reported that nucleolar stress-mediated p53 activation enhanced the WEE1 inhibitor AZD1775-induced ferroptosis to suppress lung cancer growth. Our findings showed that AZD1775 promoted ferroptosis by blocking cystine uptake, an action similar to that of Erastin. Meanwhile, inhibition of WEE1 by the WEE1 inhibitors or si RNAs induced compensatory upregulation of SLC7A11, which conferred resistance to ferroptosis. Mechanistically, AZD1775 prevented the enrichment of H3K9me3, a histone marker of transcriptional repression, on the SLC7A11 promoter by repressing the expression of the histone methyltransferase SETDB1, thereby enhancing NRF2-mediated SLC7A11 transcription. This finding was also validated using the H3K9me3 inhibitor BRD4770. Remarkably, we found that the nucleolar stress-inducing agent Actinomycin D(Act. D) inhibited SLC7A11 expression by activating p53, thus augmenting AZD1775-induced ferroptosis. Moreover, the combination of AZD1775 and Act. D synergistically suppressed wild-type p53-harboring lung cancer cell growth both in vitro and in vivo. Altogether, our study demonstrates that AZD1775 promotes ferroptosis by targeting cystine uptake but also mediates the adaptive activation of SLC7A11 through the WEE1-SETDB1 cascade and NRF2-induced transcription, and inhibition of SLC7A11 by Act. D boosts the anti-tumor efficacy of AZD1775 by enhancing ferroptosis in cancers with wild-type p53.

Visualization of the protective role of estrogen against female liver fibrosis via an ER viscosity NIR fluorescent probe

Endoplasmic reticulum(ER) viscosity has emerged as a new potential biomarker for hepatic fibrosis(HF). Herein, we report the first ER-targeting viscosity-responsive near-infrared(NIR) fluorescent probe HBT-PP for investigations of HF *** twisted intramolecular charge transfer(TICT) and the excited state intramolecular proton transfer(ESIPT) are combined to endow HBT-PP with the selective response towards viscosity(～62-fold) and a super large stokes shift(～320 nm). HBT-PP mainly targets organelle ER and is able to image the drug-or alcohol-induced viscosity elevation in living cells. Significantly,HBT-PP was successfully applied to visualize the gender difference in HF and the protective role of estrogen in restraining HF progression. Of note, after 10 min of stain with HBT-PP, HF lesions showed a stage-based response, indicating the potential of this probe in fast and early diagnosis of HF. These results clearly demonstrated the promising application of HBT-PP as a new tool for exploring ER viscosity-involved physiological and pathological processes.

Deciphering the role of ultra-low-loaded rhodium in NiFe-MIL-53 for superior oxygen evolution reaction

Designing highly active and stable electrocatalysts of oxygen evolution reaction （OER） is one of the crucial *** this study,a novel OER electrocatalyst,NiFe-MIL-53 modified with ultra-low rhodium（Rh@NiFe-MIL-53）,is successfully prepared via the hydrothermal ***-situ Raman spectroscopy and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy reveal that the doped Rh accelerates the phase transformation of NiFe-MIL-53 and the in-situ formed Rh@NiFeOOH is the actual active *** importantly,the enhanced reversibility of electrochemical reconstruction between NiFeOOH and NiFe（OH）2after doping Rh is beneficial for improving the electrochemical stability of the catalyst.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy spectra show the strong electronic interaction between single-atom Rh and Ni/Fe in Rh@***,theoretical calculations confirm that the integration of single-atom Rh into the NiFeOOH successfully reduces the band gap,regulates the d-band center （εd）,accelerates the charge transfer,and optimizes the adsorption behavior of oxygen-containing intermediates,thereby lowering the energy barrier of rate-determining ***,the optimized Rh@NiFe-MIL-53 exhibits excellent OER activity （240 mV） with a small Tafel slope of 48.2 mV dec-1and long-term durability (over1270 h at 10 m A cm-2and 110 h at 200 mA cm-2).This work presents a new perspective on designing highly efficient OER electrocatalysts.

Contribution of fungal biomass to persistent soil carbon across natural ecosystems

Fungi are known to be crucial in the formation and stabilization of soil organic matter through their exudates and dead residues (necromass). Yet, it remains unclear how fungi contribute to the persistence of carbon in soils over millennial scales across biomes. Here, this study fills the knowledge gap by linking fungal carbon stocks with minerals-associated carbon stocks across major biomes. A strong correlation between fungal biomass and reactive mineral-associated carbon stocks in soils across six biomes supports the substantial role of fungi in soil carbon persistence at the global level. High spatial resolution nanoscale secondary ion mass spectrometry revealed that fungi may stabilize carbon by forming organo-mineral associations through their close physical connection to reactive minerals and weathered nanoparticles. We propose a conceptual model that emphasizes the dualistic role of hypha-mineral interactions:(i) fungi accelerate organic matter decomposition by producing reactive oxygen species on the hypha-mineral interfaces, and (ii) fungi stabilize their residues on mineral surfaces, leading to millennial scale persistence of soil C. Concluding, fungi play a fundamental role in ecosystems that extends beyond the decomposition of persistent carbon. They are crucial in stabilizing carbon on mineral surfaces, thereby facilitating the long-term removal of carbon from rapid biotic cycling.

Multivariate synergy for heightening ionic HOF robustness and proton conductivity

Multicomponent crystalline materials construct more complex and diversified structures with different combinations and modes,which expands the material structure space and application *** this work,we have successfully synthesized two twocomponent ionic hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks （iHOF-32 and iHOF-33） and a three-component iHOF （iHOF-34）.Guanidine hydrochloride which is rich in N and H and has a short chain length strengthens the hydrogen bonding network of iHOF,thereby aiding in the efficient migration of *** rigid architecture of 1,1'-diamino-4,4'-bipyridine diiodide furnishes additional scaffolding for the iHOFs and enhances its robustness under harsh ***-34 accomplishes the combination of the ultra-high proton conductivity of iHOF-32 and the robustness of iHOF-33 by the synergistic interaction among the three components of *** addition,iHOF-34 was fabricated as a composite membrane with a peak proton conductivity of 1.55×10-1S cm-1,which is 3.8 times higher than that of recast Nafion,and has extensive potential in fuel *** self-assembly strategy of multicomponent HOFs opens up new avenues for constructing diverse structures while promising new opportunities for applications in the fields of proton conduction and energy storage.
