Analysis of Th-U breeding capability for an accelerator-driven subcritical molten salt reactor

Accelerator-driven systems based on molten salt fuel have several unique advantages and features for advanced nuclear fuel *** aim of this work was to study the Th-U breeding capability in such systems,known as‘‘accelerator-driven subcritical molten salt reactors’’(ADS–MSRs).Breeding capacities including conversion ratio and net^(233)U production for various subcriticalities and different minor actinides(MA)loadings were analyzed for an ADS–*** results show that the subcriticality of the core has a considerable effect on the Th-U breeding.A high subcriticality is favorable to improving the conversion ratio,increasing the net^(233)U production,and reducing the doubling ***,the doubling time for k_(eff)of 0.99 is larger than 80 years,while the counterpart for k_(eff)of 0.93 is only approximately22 ***,in an ADS–MSR with a high initial MA loading,MA results in a non-negligible^(233)U depletion in the first two decades,while increasing the net^(233)U production compared to reactors without MA *** the 50 years of operation,for the subcritical reactor(k_(eff)0:97)with MA fraction increasing from 1 to 14%,the net^(233)U production increases from 3.94 to 8.24 t.

In the practical continuous-variable quantum key distribution(CV-QKD)system,the postprocessing process,particularly the error correction part,significantly impacts the system ***-edge type low-density parity-check(MET-LDPC)codes are suitable for CV-QKD systems because of their Shannon-limit-approaching performance at a low signal-to-noise ratio(SNR).However,the process of designing a low-rate MET-LDPC code with good performance is extremely ***,we introduce Raptor-like LDPC(RL-LDPC)codes into the CV-QKD system,exhibiting both the rate compatible property of the Raptor code and capacity-approaching performance of MET-LDPC ***,this technique can significantly reduce the cost of constructing a new *** design the RL-LDPC matrix with a code rate of 0.02 and easily and effectively adjust this rate from 0.016 to *** results show that we can achieve more than 98%reconciliation efficiency in a range of code rate variation using only one RL-LDPC code that can support high-speed decoding with an SNR less than-16.45 d *** code allows the system to maintain a high key extraction rate under various SNRs,paving the way for practical applications of CV-QKD systems with different transmission distances.

The Flapping Rotary Wing(FRW)is a micro air vehicle wing layout coupling flapping,pitching,and rotating *** can gain bencfits in high lift from a fast passive rotating motion,which is tightly related to the passive pitching motion directly caused by wing flexible ***,flexible deformation is crucial for the wing kinematics and aerodynamic performance of an *** this paper,we explored the effct of flexibility on wing kinematics and acrodynamics on the basis of a mechanical FRW model.A photogrammetric method was adopted to capture motion images according to which wing orientations and deformations were *** acrodynamic force was computed using computational fluid dynamic method,and wing kinematics and deformations were used as simulation *** experimental measurements presented the real orientation and deformation pattem of a real *** wing passive deformation of a high-intensity FRW was found to be mainly caused by inertial force,and a linear positive spanwise twist was observed in the *** effects of wing deformation on aerodynamic force production and the underlying mechanism were *** showed that lift augment,rotating moment enhancement,and power efficiency improvement can be achieved when a wing becomes *** spanwise twist mainly accounts for these changes in aerodynamics,and increment in spanwise twist could further contributes to aerodynamic improvement.

Superlubricity has been developing very rapidly in recent years as a new and important area in tribology. Many new phenomena and materials, as well as some new mechanisms in both liquid and solid superlubricity have been obtained. In liquid superlubricity, tens of new kinds of liquids with superlubricity have been found (e.g., water-based liquids, oil-based lubricants, and liquids combined with additives of two-dimensional (2D) materials that exhibit very good superlubricity properties under high pressure). In the field of solid superlubricity, more materials with superlubricity have been observed, including graphene-to-graphene surfaces, highly oriented pyrolytic graphite to graphene surfaces, and heterostructure surfaces where a friction coefficient as low as 0.00004 has been obtained. However, superlubricity is still under laboratory research. What is the future of superlubricity? What is the barrier restricting superlubricity from industrial applications? How do we transfer superlubricity from scientific research to industrial application? These questions and application fields of superlubricity in near future have been analyzed, and the concept of"superlubricitive engineering"has been proposed in the present work.

Vascular endothelial growth factor and its mimic peptide KLTWQELYQLKYKGI(QK)are widely used as the most potent angiogenic factors for the treatment of multiple ischemic ***,conventional topical drug delivery often results in a burst release of the drug,leading to transient retention(inefficacy)and undesirable diffusion(toxicity)in ***,a drug delivery system that responds to changes in the microenvironment of tissue regeneration and controls vascular endothelial growth factor release is crucial to improve the treatment of ischemic *** metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2)is gradually upregulated after cerebral ***,vascular endothelial growth factor mimic peptide QK was self-assembled with MMP-2-cleaved peptide PLGLAG(TIMP)and customizable peptide amphiphilic(PA)molecules to construct nanofiber hydrogel ***-TIMP-QK was found to control the delivery of QK by MMP-2 upregulation after cerebral ischemia/reperfusion and had a similar biological activity with vascular endothelial growth factor in *** results indicated that PA-TIMP-QK promoted neuronal survival,restored local blood circulation,reduced blood-brain barrier permeability,and restored motor *** findings suggest that the self-assembling nanofiber hydrogel PA-TIMP-QK may provide an intelligent drug delivery system that responds to the microenvironment and promotes regeneration and repair after cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury.

This study presents a breakthrough in flexible strain sensor technology with the development of an ultrahigh sensitivity and wide-range sensor,addressing the critical challenge of reconciling sensitivity with measurement *** by the structure of bamboo slips,we introduce a novel approach that utilises liquid metal to modulate the electrical pathways within a cracked platinum fabric *** resulting sensor demonstrates a gauge factor greater than 108 and a strain measurement capability exceeding 100%.The integration of patterned liquid metal enables customisable tuning of the sensor’s response,while the porous fabric structure ensures superior comfort and air permeability for the *** design not only optimises the sensor’s performance but also enhances the electrical stability that is essential for practical *** systematic investigation,we reveal the intrinsic mechanisms governing the sensor’s response,offering valuable insights for the design of wearable strain *** sensor’s exceptional performance across a spectrum of applications,from micro-strain to large-strain detection,highlights its potential for a wide range of real-world uses,demonstrating a significant advancement in the field of flexible electronics.

Liquid leakage of pipeline networks not only results in considerableresource wastage but also leads to environmental pollution and ecological *** response to this global issue, a bioinspired superhydrophobic thermoplastic polyurethane/carbon nanotubes/graphene nanosheets flexible strain sensor (TCGS) hasbeen developed using a combination of micro-extrusion compression molding andsurface modification for real-time wireless detection of liquid leakage. The TCGSutilizes the synergistic effects of Archimedean spiral crack arrays and micropores,which are inspired by the remarkable sensory capabilities of scorpions. This designachieves a sensitivity of 218.13 at a strain of 2%, which is an increase of 4300%. Additionally, it demonstrates exceptional durability bywithstanding over 5000 usage cycles. The robust superhydrophobicity of the TCGS significantly enhances sensitivity and stability indetecting small-scale liquid leakage, enabling precise monitoring of liquid leakage across a wide range of sizes, velocities, and compositionswhile issuing prompt alerts. This provides critical early warnings for both industrial pipelines and potential liquid leakage scenariosin everyday life. The development and utilization of bioinspired ultrasensitive flexible strain sensors offer an innovative and effectivesolution for the early wireless detection of liquid leakage.
