Advanced cellulose-based materials toward stabilizing zinc anodes

Rechargeable aqueous zinc metal batteries(RAZMBs) have received extensive attention for large-scale energy storage systems due to the merits of Zn anodes, including moderate volumetric and gravimetric energy density, low redox potential, abundant reserve, low cost and impressive intrinsic safety. However, Zn anodes suffer from a series of adverse reactions(dendrite growth,hydrogen evolution, and surface passivation) resulting in low Coulombic efficiency, large polarization, and unsatisfied cycling performance, which inevitably hinder the wide application of RAZMBs. To address the above issues, cellulose-based materials are widely used for Zn anode protection because of their unique physical and chemical properties and other advantages such as biocompatibility, non-toxicity, degradability and easy extraction. In order to better understand the current progress in cellulosebased materials for the Zn anode protection, we have classified and summarized the relevant literatures. In this review, we summarize and elaborate the causes of poor reversibility for Zn anodes, including dendrite formation, hydrogen evolution, and surface passivation. Subsequently, the effective strategies(anode interfacial engineering, gel electrolyte optimization, and separator modification) of cellulose-based materials toward stabilizing Zn anodes are overviewed. In the end, the existing challenges and prospects of cellulose-based materials in Zn anode protection are summarized to shed light on future work.

Ventricular arrhythmogenesis is a key cause of sudden cardiac death following myocardial infarction(MI).Accumulating data show that ischemia,sympathetic activation,and inflammation contribute to arrhythmogenesis.However,the role and mechanisms of abnormal mechanical stress in ventricular arrhythmia following MI remain undefined.We aimed to examine the impact of increased mechanical stress and identify the role of the key sensor Piezo1 in ventricular arrhythmogenesis in MI.Concomitant with increased ventricular pressure,Piezo1,as a newly recognized mechano-sensitive cation channel,was the most up-regulated mechanosensor in the myocardium of patients with advanced heart failure.Piezo1 was mainly located at the intercalated discs and T-tubules of cardiomyocytes,which are responsible for intracellular calcium homeostasis and intercellular communication.

In correlated oxides,collaborative manipulation on light intensity,wavelength,pulse duration and polarization has yielded many exotic discoveries,such as phase transitions and novel quantum states.In view of potential optoelectronic applications,tailoring long-lived static properties by light-induced effects is highly desirable.So far,the polarization state of light has rarely been reported as a control parameter for this purpose.Here,we report polarization-dependent metal-to-insulator transition(MIT)in phaseseparated manganite thin films,introducing a new degree of freedom to control static MIT.Specifically,we observed giant photoinduced resistance jumps with striking features:(1)a single resistance jump occurs upon a linearly polarized light incident with a chosen polarization angle,and a second resistance jump occurs when the polarization angle changes;(2)the amplitude of the second resistance jump depends sensitively on the actual change of the polarization angles.Linear transmittance measurements reveal that the origin of the above phenomena is closely related to the coexistence of anisotropic micro-domains.Our results represent a first step to utilize light polarization as an active knob to manipulate static phase transitions,pointing towards new pathways for nonvolatile optoelectronic devices and sensors.

Stable transfection of estrogen receptor-alpha suppresses expression of cyclooxygenase-2 and vascular endothelial growth factor-C in MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells

Background Estrogen receptor （ER）-negative breast cancer cells are more aggressive than ER-positive cells. Elevated levels of cyclooxygenase-2 （COX-2） and vascular endothelial growth factor-C （VEGF-C） expression have been detected in cultured human breast cancer cells and are associated with negative hormone receptor status. In this study, we created ERα stable transfectants in MDA-MB-231 cells to explore the effect of ERα on cell growth and COX-2 and VEGF-C expression.Methods The green fluorescent protein （GFP）-ERα plasmids were stably transfected into ER-negative MDA-MB-231 cells. The proliferation and migration of untransfected MDA-MB-231 cells, ERα-transfected MDA-MB-231 cells and ER-positive MCF-7 cells were determined. The expression of COX-2, and the levels of VEGF-C mRNA and the VEGF-C secretion concentration were assayed in these cell lines.Results The proliferation and migration capacities of ERα-tranfected MDA-MB-231 cells were significantly decreased （P 〈0.05）. The expression of COX-2 was significantly lower in ERa-tranfected MDA-MB-231 cells than in untranfected MDA-MB-231 cells. The mRNA and protein levels of VEGF-C were lower in ERa-tranfected MDA-MB-231 cells than in untransfected MDA-MB-231 cells （P〈0.05）.Conclusions ERα stable transfection inhibits proliferation and migration capacities of MDA-MB-231 cells and decreases expression of COX-2 and VEGF-C. The decreases of proliferation and migration capacities may be related to suppression of COX-2 and VEGF-C expression.

Understanding the mode’s origin in planar metamaterials is fundamental for related applications in nanophotonics and plasmonics.For complex planar metamaterials,conventional analysis that directly obtains the final charge/current distribution of a mode is usually difficult in helping to understand the mode’s origin.In this paper,we propose a mode evolution method(MEM)with a core analysis tool,i.e.,plasmonic evolution maps(PEMs),to describe the mode evolution in several complementary planar metamaterials with designed plasmonic atoms/molecules.The PEMs could not only clearly explain a mode’s origin,but also reveal the role of a structure’s symmetry in the mode formation process.The MEM with PEMs can work as a simple,efficient,and universal approach for the mode analysis in different kinds of planar metamaterials.

Magnetic Properties and Kinetics Parameters of Electroless Magnetic Loss CoFeB Films

Electroless CoFeB films with good soft magnetic properties were fabricated on polyester plastic substrate from sodium tartarate as a complexing agent.The plating rate of electroless CoFeB films is a function of concentration of sodium tetrahydroborate,pH of the plating bath,plating temperature and the metallic ratio.The estimated regression coefficient b0-b3 confidence interval,residual error r and confidence interval rint were confirmed by a computer program.The optimal composition of the plating bath was obtained and the dynamic electromagnetic parameters of films were measured in the 2-10 GHz range.At 2 GHz,the μ＇,μ″ of the electroless CoFeB films were 304 and 76.6,respectively,as the concentration of reducer is 1 g/L.Magnetic hysteresis loop of the deposited CoFeB films show a remanence close to the saturation magnetization and coercivity of about 55.7-127.4 A/m.The loops along the hard axis display low anisotropic field Hk of 2 388-3 582 A/m.

Heterogeneous hydrogenolysis process has devoted a considerable effort for selectively removing oxygen-containing functiclity of biomass into renewable energy.Highly selective synthesis of DMF from furan derivatives from inulin is serious challenge.Here cost-effective CeO-Cu/SiO catalysts were prepared by precipitation-gel method for the in-situ hydrogenolysis of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(HMF) to 2,5-dimethyl furan(DMF) at 220℃ for 6 h.Characterization of the catalysts showed that the residual sodium and poor dispersion had a negative effect on the selectivity of DMF.The Cu in catalysts can promote the adsorption of HMF molecules on the surface copper species of catalysts by perpendicular η-(O) adsorption mode.The hydrogenolysis of the hydroxyl group of HMF is the rate-determining step for the formation of DMF liquid fuel.The optimal selectivity of 99.32% for DMF was obtained at the conversion of 99.8%.

On the relationship between imprint and reliability in Hf_(0.5)Zr_(0.5)O_(2) based ferroelectric random access memory

The detrimental effect of imprint,which can cause misreading problem,has hindered the application of ferroelectric HfO_(2).In this work,we present results of a comprehensive reliability evaluation of Hf_(0.5)Zr_(0.5)O_(2)-based ferroelectric random access memory.The influence of imprint on the retention and endurance is demonstrated.Furthermore,a solution in circuity is pro-posed to effectively solve the misreading problem caused by imprint.

The Linear Regression Method for Improving Magnetic Parameter of the Electroless CoFeB Films

The kinetics equation of deposition rate was implemented to help explain some of the mechanisms responsible for structures observed during the deposition of CoFeB films on poly-ester plastic. The plating rate of electroless CoFeB films is a function of concentration of sodium tetrahydroborate, pH of the plating bath, plating temperature and the metallic ratio. The estimated regression coefficient, confidence interval, residual error and confidence interval were confirmed by computer program. The optimal composition of the plating bath was obtained and the dynamic electromagnetic parameters of films were measured in the 2-10 GHz range. At 2 GHz, the permeability, magnetic loss of the electroless CoFeB films were 304,76.6 respectively as the concentration of reducer is 1 g·L^-1.

Reliability Evaluation of Machine Center Components Based on Cascading Failure Analysis

In order to rectify the problems that the com- ponent reliability model exhibits deviation, and the evalu- ation result is low due to the overlook of failure propagation in traditional reliability evaluation of machine center components, a new reliability evaluation method based on cascading failure analysis and the failure influ- enced degree assessment is proposed. A direct graph model of cascading failure among components is established according to cascading failure mechanism analysis and graph theory. The failure influenced degrees of the system components are assessed by the adjacency matrix and its transposition, combined with the Pagerank algorithm. Based on the comprehensive failure probability function and total probability formula, the inherent failure proba- bility function is determined to realize the reliability evaluation of the system components. Finally, the method is applied to a machine center, it shows the following： 1） The reliability evaluation values of the proposed method are at least 2.5% higher than those of the traditional method; 2） The difference between the comprehensive and inherent reliability of the system component presents a positive correlation with the failure influenced degree ofthe system component, which provides a theoretical basis for reliability allocation of machine center system.
