With the demand for Internet connectivity in remote areas, the space-air-ground integrated network(SAGIN) was proposed to achieve ubiquitous coverage and enhance service capabilities of extant terrestrial networks. The paradigm of virtual network element placement(NEP) is applied into SAGIN. It can save energy and operating costs by placing specific network elements(NEs) as software instances. In addition, it helps to provide services in end-to-end networks with its ability to allocate and manage resources flexibly. However, NEP faces some challenges in SAGIN. The network topologies can be dynamic, and links such as the satellite-to-ground and air-to-ground ones are prone to fail. These will make NEP management more complicated. Moreover, the static NEP schemes are hard to accommodate the time-varying traffic. In this context, this work explains the NEP problem in SAGIN from three aspects, i.e., the SAGIN radio access network(RAN), the SAGIN core network(CN), and the SAGIN barrier network(BN). First, the physical and networking architectures of SAGIN are introduced. Then the status of the network element placement and corresponding challenges are described from these two aspects. Finally, this paper discusses future research directions and key technical challenges.

The integrated aviation and High-Speed Railway(HSR)transportation system plays a vital role for today’s inter-city transportation ***,an increasing number of unexpected disruptions(such as operation failures,natural disasters,or intentional attacks)pose a considerable threat to the normal operation of the system,especially on ground transfer,leading to the extensive research on its *** approaches mainly focus on interruptions within a single transportation mode,neglecting the role of ground transfer which serves as a coupled connection between aviation and High-Speed *** paper proposes a network-based framework for evaluating the vulnerability of the Chinese Coupled Aviation and High-Speed Railway(CAHSR)network from the viewpoint of ground transfer *** the end-to-end travel time and passenger flow information into consideration as an evaluation measure and analyzing from the perspective of urban agglomerations,an adaptive method is developed to identify the critical cities and further investigate their failure impacts on the geographic distribution of *** addition,the proposed model explores variations of vulnerability under different failure time *** on the empirical study,some major conclusions are highlighted as follows:(A)Only a few cities show significant impacts on the network’s vulnerability when ground transfer interruptions occurred.(B)The distribution of vulnerability is not proportional to the distance between failure city and influenced city.(C)The vulnerability is more serious in the morning and evening when the ground transfer is *** findings may provide new insights for maintenance and optimization of the CAHSR network and other real-world transportation networks.

To improve the accuracy of typhoon prediction,it is necessary to detect the internal structure of a *** motion model of a floating weather sensing node becomes the key to affect the channel frequency expansion performance and communication *** study proposes a floating weather sensing node motion modeling method based on the chaotic *** the chaotic attractor is obtained by simulation,the position trajectory of the floating weather sensing node is obtained by space and coordinate conversion,and the three-dimensional velocity of each point on the position trajectory is obtained by multidimensional linear *** this basis,the established motion model is used to study the Doppler frequency shift,which is based on the software and physical *** software simulates the relative motion of the transceiver and calculates the Doppler frequency *** physical platform can add the Doppler frequency shift to the actual transmitted *** results show that this method can effectively reflect the influence of the floating weather sensing node motion on signal *** is helpful to research the characteristics of the communication link and the design of a signal transceiver for typhoon detection to further improve the communication quality and to obtain more accurate interior structure characteristic data of a typhoon.

Measuring air traffic complexity based on small samples

Air traffic complexity is an objective metric for evaluating the operational condition of the airspace. It has several applications, such as airspace design and traffic flow ***, identifying a reliable method to accurately measure traffic complexity is important. Considering that many factors correlate with traffic complexity in complicated nonlinear ways,researchers have proposed several complexity evaluation methods based on machine learning models which were trained with large samples. However, the high cost of sample collection usually results in limited training set. In this paper, an ensemble learning model is proposed for measuring air traffic complexity within a sector based on small samples. To exploit the classification information within each factor, multiple diverse factor subsets（FSSs） are generated under guidance from factor noise and independence analysis. Then, a base complexity evaluator is built corresponding to each FSS. The final complexity evaluation result is obtained by integrating all results from the base evaluators. Experimental studies using real-world air traffic operation data demonstrate the advantages of our model for small-sample-based traffic complexity evaluation over other stateof-the-art methods.

Identifying vital edges in Chinese air route network via memetic algorithm

Due to rapid development in the past decade, air transportation system has attracted considerable research attention from diverse communities. While most of the previous studies focused on airline networks, here we systematically explore the robustness of the Chinese air route network, and identify the vital edges which form the backbone of Chinese air transportation ***, we employ a memetic algorithm to minimize the network robustness after removing certain edges, and hence the solution of this model is the set of vital edges. Counterintuitively,our results show that the most vital edges are not necessarily the edges of the highest topological importance, for which we provide an extensive explanation from the microscope view. Our findings also offer new insights to understanding and optimizing other real-world network systems.

Predictability of real temporal networks

Links in most real networks often change over time. Such temporality of links encodes the ordering and causality of interactions between nodes and has a profound effect on network dynamics and *** evidence has shown that the temporal nature of links in many real-world networks is not ***, it is challenging to predict temporal link patterns while considering the entanglement between topological and temporal link patterns. Here, we propose an entropy-rate-based framework, based on combined topological–temporal regularities, for quantifying the predictability of any temporal network. We apply our framework on various model networks, demonstrating that it indeed captures the intrinsic topological–temporal regularities whereas previous methods considered only temporal aspects. We also apply our framework on 18 real networks of different types and determine their predictability. Interestingly,we find that, for most real temporal networks, despite the greater complexity of predictability brought by the increase in dimension, the combined topological–temporal predictability is higher than the temporal predictability. Our results demonstrate the necessity for incorporating both temporal and topological aspects of networks in order to improve predictions of dynamical processes.
