Association of food intake with a risk of metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease:a cross-sectional study

Background:Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD)is a common liver disease,the risk of which can be increased by poor *** objective of this study was to evaluate the associations between food items and MAFLD,and to propose reasonable dietary recommendations for the prevention of ***:Physical examination data were collected from April 2015 through August 2017 at Nanping First Hospital(n=3,563).Dietary intakes were assessed using a semi-quantitative food frequency *** association between food intake and the risk of MAFLD was assessed by using the inverse probability weighted propensity ***:Beverages(soft drinks and sugar-sweetened beverages)and instant noodles were positively associated with MAFLD risk,adjusting for smoking,drinking,tea intake,and weekly hours of physical activity[adjusted odds ratio(ORadjusted):1.568;P=0.044;ORadjusted:4.363;P=0.001].Milk,tubers,and vegetables were negatively associated with MAFLD risk(ORadjusted:0.912;P=0.002;ORadjusted:0.633;P=0.007;ORadjusted:0.962;P=0.028).In subgroup analysis,the results showed that women[odds ratio(OR):0.341,95%confidence interval(CI):0.172–0.676]had a significantly lower risk of MAFLD through consuming more tubers than men(OR:0.732,95%CI:0.564–0.951).Conclusions:These findings suggest that reducing consumption of beverages(soft drinks and sugar-sweetened beverages)and instant noodles,and consuming more milk,vegetables,and tubers may reduce the risk of MAFLD.

Background Iron overload is frequently observed in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).Transferrin receptor 2(TFR2)is an important key factor in iron *** aimed to investigate whether TFR2 single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)contribute to susceptibility to NAFLD in a Chinese Han *** Five tag SNPs(rs10247962,rs4434553,rs2075672,rs1052897,and rs3757859)in the TFR2 gene were selected and genotyped in a case–control study on participants who visited two affiliated hospitals of Fujian Medical University between June 2011 and August *** score matching and inverse probability of treatment weighting analyses were used to verify the risk associated with TFR2 *** Logistic regression analyses suggested that subjects with the rs4434553 GA or GG genotype had a lower risk of NAFLD than those carrying the AA genotype(odds ratio=0.630,95%confidence interval=0.504–0.788).Moreover,the rs4434553 GA or GG genotype was negatively correlated with body mass index,hepatic steatosis index,and serum ferritin(b=-0.363,P=0.008;b=-1.040,P=0.009;b=-35.258,P=0.015,respectively),and positively associated with serum hepcidin level(b=35.308,Peover,rs10247962 and rs1052897 had multiplicative interactions with age in relation to the risk of NAFLD(P for interactions,0.041 and 0.034,respectively).The cumulative effects of the rs10247962,rs1052897,and rs4434553 SNPs were positively associated with the risk of NAFLD(adjusted P_(trend)=0.012).Conclusions In this Chinese Han population,the rs4434553 polymorphism in TFR2 may be an independent influencing factor associated with the susceptibility to *** ageing effect on the development of NAFLD may be inhibited by SNPs rs10247962 and rs1052897.

Association between Hepatitis B virus and gastric cancer:A systematic review and meta-analysis

An increasing number of studies are suggesting that hepatitis B virus(HBV)infection may be associated with an increased risk of not only hepatocellular carcinoma but also gastric cancer(GC).Whether HBV infection can be a risk factor for GC remains to be *** this study,we systematically searched for all eligible literature in 7 databases(China National Knowledge Infrastructure,WanFang,China Science and Technology Journal,PubMed,Cochrane Library,Web of Science and embase).eligible studies were required to have a case-control or cohort *** studies were included and a meta-analysis was performed using Stata version *** quality of the included studies was assessed using the Newcastle-Ottawa *** association between HBV infection and risk of GC was quantified by calculating the odds ratio and 95%confidence *** proportion of high-quality studies was 87.5%(14/16).The risk of GC was higher when HBV infection was present than when it was not(combined odds ratio 1.29,95%confidence interval 1.16-1.44;I^(2)=62.7%,pe results of subgroup analyses were consistent with the main *** conclusion,this systematic review and meta-analysis identified a positive association between HBV infection and an increased risk of GC.

Background:The incidence of liver injury caused by anti-tuberculous(TB)drugs is very ***,owing to a lack of sufficient evidence,preventive use of hepatoprotective drugs is not yet ***,we aimed to assess the protective effect of hepatoprotective drugs for anti-TB drug-induced liver ***:We conducted a literature search in China Biology Medicine disc,China National Knowledge Infras-tructure,WanFang,Chinese Scientific and Technological Journal,PubMed,Cochrane Library,Web of Science,and *** performed meta-analysis using R 4.0 and Review Manager 5.3 ***:A total of 18 studies involving 3589 patients from 2 groups were *** of hepatoprotective drugs contributed to a lower incidence of liver injury as compared with conventional anti-TB treatment alone(relative risk[RR]=0.39,95%confidence interval[CI]:0.28-0.53,pective effects were noted for mild liver injury(RR=0.30,95%CI 0.15-0.58),moderate(or severe)liver injury(RR=0.35,95%CI 0.19-0.65),and liver injury within 2-4 weeks(RR=0.37,95%CI 0.19-0.71).We also found a statistically significant difference in the incidence of drug withdrawal(RR=0.58,95%CI 0.34-0.97,p=0.040).Conclusions:Our results demonstrate that hepatoprotective drugs are effective in preventing liver injury in pa-tients receiving anti-TB treatment,to some extent.

Long non-coding RNAs(lncRNAs)function as key modulators in mammalian immunity,particularly due to their involvement in lncRNA-mediated competitive endogenous RNA(ceRNA)*** their recognized significance in mammals,research on lncRNAs in lower vertebrates remains *** the present study,we characterized the first immune-related lncRNA(pol-lnc78)in the teleost Japanese flounder(Paralichthys olivaceus).Results indicated that pol-lnc78 acted as a ceRNA for pol-miR-n199-3p to target the sterile alpha and armadillo motif-containing protein(SARM),the fifth discovered member of the Toll/interleukin 1(IL-1)receptor(TIR)adaptor *** ceRNA network regulated the antibacterial responses of flounder via the Toll-like receptor(TLR)signaling ***,SARM acted as a negative regulator and exacerbated bacterial infection by inhibiting the expression of inflammatory cytokines IL-1βand tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α).Pol-miR-n199-3p reduced SARM expression by specifically interacting with the 3’untranslated region(UTR),thereby promoting SARM-dependent inflammatory cytokine expression and protecting the host against bacterial ***,pol-lnc78 sponged pol-miR-n199-3p to ameliorate the inhibition of SARM *** infection,the negative regulators pol-lnc78 and SARM were significantly down-regulated,while pol-miR-n199-3p was significantly up-regulated,thus favoring host antibacterial *** findings provide novel insights into the mechanisms underlying fish immunity and open new horizons to better understand ceRNA crosstalk in lower vertebrates.

effects of cooling rate on microstructure and microhardness of directionally solidified Galvalume alloy

The influences of cooling rate on the phase constitution,microstructural length scale,and microhardness of directionally solidified Galvalume(Zn-55Al-1.6Si)alloy were investigated by directional solidification experiments at different withdrawal speeds(5,10,20,50,100,200,and 400μm·s^(-1)).The results show that the microstructure of directionally solidified Galvalume alloys is composed of primary Al dendrites,Si-rich phase and(Zn-Al-Si)ternary eutectics at the withdrawal speed ranging from 5 to 400μm·s^(-1).As the withdrawal speed increases,the segregation of Si element intensifies,resulting in an increase in the area fraction of the Si-rich *** addition,the primary Al dendrites show significant refinement with an increase in the withdrawal *** relationship between the primary dendrite arm spacing(λ_(1))and the thermal parameters of solidification is obtained:λ_(1)=127.3V^(-0.31).Moreover,as the withdrawal speed increases from 5 to 400μm·s^(-1),the microhardness of the alloy increases from 90 HV to 151 *** is a combined effect of grain refinement and second-phase strengthening.

Al-containing Ge-rich IWV:rapid synthesis via interzeolite transformation and application in Baeyer-Villiger oxidation

Ge-containing Lewis acidic zeolites are typically synthesized using a conventional hydrothermal strategy from amorphous silica sources,through a long time-and energy-consuming approach limiting their wide *** study reports a rapid synthesis strategy for a series of IWV aluminogermanosilicate zeolites(T-x-Al)with a wide range of Si/Ge molar ratios(5–15)by interzeolite transformation of dealuminated FAU(DA-FAU).Notably,Ge-rich IWV could be obtained with crystallization time as short as one day by the equimolecular Si/Ge ratio *** effect of synthetic parameters was investigated and the obtained T-x-Al samples were characterized by XRD,SeM,eDS,ICP,^(29)Si and^(27)Al MAS NMR,FTIR,and N_(2)physisorption *** with a previously reported IWV germanosilicate(H-3),T-x-Al displayed a better catalytic activity in Baeyer-Villiger(BV)oxidation,attributed to the presence of the active framework Ge sites with the assistance of the extraframework Al *** cyclic catalysis tests revealed that the presence of framework Al species contributed to the stability of the ***,T-x-Al,with 14-membered ring(MR)supercages,outperformed the typical 12-MR Sn-beta catalyst in the BV oxidation of large ketone-like 2-admantanone,indicating a promising potential application in the macromolecular catalytic process.

effects of environmental Factors on Corrosion Behavior of e690 Steel in Simulated Marine environment

The effects of hydrostatic pressure, dissolved oxygen, temperature and flow velocity, and their interaction on the corrosion rates of e690 high-strength steel (HSS) in simulated marine environments were studied using response surface methodology. The results show that the flow velocity exerts the most significant influence on the corrosion rate of e690 HSS. Consequently, the corrosion behavior of e690 HSS under varying flow velocities were analyzed profoundly from initial pitting corrosion to long-term corrosion properties. The results indicate that the flow state facilitates the mass transfer and enhances the adsorption tendency of Cl− by enhancing the electrochemical activity of the steel surface. These factors accelerate the electrochemical reactions, resulting in increased pitting density, depth and the long-term corrosion rates in dynamic seawater environments.

The mechanical behavior of polymer networks is intrinsically correlated with the local chain topology and chain *** this study,we delve into this relationship through the lens of coarse-grained molecular dynamics(CG-MD)*** aim is to illuminate the intricate interplay between local topology and stress distribution within polymer monomers,cross-linkers,and various components with distinct cross-link connections,thereby elucidating their collective impact on the mechanical properties of polymer *** mainly focus on how specific local structures contribute to the overall mechanical response of the *** particular,we employ local stress analysis to unravel the mechanics of these *** findings reveal the diverse responses of individual components,such as junctions,strands,cross-linkers between junctions,and dangling chain ends,when subjected to ***,we observe that these components exhibit varying degrees of deformation tolerance,underscoring the significance of their roles in determining the mechanical characteristics of the *** investigations highlight junctions as primary contributors to stress accumulation,and particles with higher local stress showing a stronger correlation between stress and Voronoi ***,our results indicate that both strands and cross-linkers between junctions exhibit heightened stress levels as strand lengths *** study enhances our understanding of the multifaceted factors governing the mechanical attributes of cross-linked polymer systems at the microstructural level.
