Diagnostic value of aldosterone to renin ratio calculated by plasma renin activity or plasma renin concentration in primary aldosteronism: a meta-analysis

Background:Since the diagnostic value of aldosterone to renin ratio(ARR)calculated by plasma renin concentration(PRC)or plasma renin activity(PRA)is still inconclusive,we conducted a meta-analysis by systematically reviewing relevant literature to explore the difference in the diagnostic efficacy of ARR calculated by PRC or PRA,so as to provide guidance for clinical diagnosis.Methods:We searched PubMed,Embase,and Cochrane Library from the establishment of the database to March 2021.We included studies that report the true positive,false positive,true negative,and false negative values for the diagnosis of primary aldosteronism,and we excluded duplicate publications,research without full text,incomplete information,or inability to conduct data extraction,animal experiments,reviews,and systematic reviews.STATA 15.1 was used to analyze the data.Results:The pooled results showed that ARR(plasma aldosterone concentration[PAC]/PRC)had a sensitivity of 0.82(95%confidence interval[CI]:0.78-0.86),a specificity of 0.94(95%CI:0.92-0.95),a positive-likelihood ratio(LR)of 12.77(95%CI:7.04-23.73),a negative LR of 0.11(95%CI:0.07-0.17),and symmetric area under the curve(SAUC)of 0.982,respectively.Furthermore,the diagnostic odds ratio(DOR)of ARR(PAC/PRC)was 180.21.Additionally,the pooled results showed that ARR(PAC/PRA)had a sensitivity of 0.91(95%CI:0.86-0.95),a specificity of 0.91(95%CI:0.90-0.93),a positive LR of 7.30(95%CI:2.99-17.99),a negative LR of 0.10(95%CI:0.04-0.26),and SAUC of 0.976,respectively.The DOR of ARR(PAC/PRA)was 155.52.Additionally,we conducted a subgroup analysis for the different thresholds(<35 or≥35)of PAC/PRC.The results showed that the DOR of the cut-off≥35 groups was higher than the cut-off<35 groups(DOR=340.15,95%CI:38.32-3019.66;DOR=116.40,95%CI=23.28-581.92).Conclusions:The research results suggest that the determination of ARR(PAC/PRC)and ARR(PAC/PRA)was all effective screening tools for PA.The diagnostic accuracy and diagnostic value of ARR(PAC/PRC)are higher than ARR(PAC/PRA).In addition,within

Validamycin treatment significantly inhibits the glycometabolism and chitin synthesis in the common cutworm,Spodoptera litura

Validamycin,as a broadly applied antibiotic,has been used to control rice sheath blight disease.Furthermore,validamycin was considered as an insecticide to control agricultural pests.Insight into the mechanism of validamycin’s action on insects can provide molecular targets for the control of agricultural pests.In this study,a toxicological test analysis revealed that Spodoptera litura larval growth and development was significantly inhibited and the pupation rate was significantly reduced with the increase of the concentration of validamycin.According to the NMR-based metabolomic analysis,a total of 15 metabolites involved in glycolysis and tricarboxylic acid cycle(TCA)pathways were identified.Additionally,trehalase activities,glucose and chitin contents were significantly downregulated,but the trehalose content was upregulated after exposure to validamycin.Reverse transcription quantitative PCR analysis revealed that the expression level of genes involved in glycolysis,TCA and chitin synthesis were upregulated after treating with validamycin.Further chitin staining also confirmed that chitin content was downregulated at 12 h after validamycin treatment.Our results indicated that validamycin worked via two different molecular mechanisms,one through inhibiting glycometabolism and the other by inhibiting chitin synthesis in S.litura.The information lays a theoretical foundation for further control of S.litura.

杨梅腐烂病是湖南省杨梅的主要病害之一,该病主要危害杨梅主干分枝处,引起干腐和枝枯。经鉴定,杨梅腐烂病菌为核果壳囊孢菌(Cytospora leucostoma)。室内药剂试验结果表明:抑制该菌菌丝生长和分生孢子萌发效果较好的杀菌剂是扑菌特、甲基硫菌灵、多菌灵、退菌特、炭必灵和波尔多液;红杀和湘研植病灵抑制菌丝生长效果较好,但抑制孢子萌发的效果较差;石硫合剂、新万生、疫霜锰锌和敌克松抑制孢子萌发的效果较好,而抑菌丝生长效果较差。

Web page classification based on heterogeneous features and a combination of multiple classifiers

Precise web page classification can be achieved by evaluating features of web pages, and the structural features of web pages are effective complements to their textual features. Various classifiers have different characteristics, and multiple classifiers can be combined to allow classifiers to complement one another. In this study, a web page classification method based on heterogeneous features and a combination of multiple classifiers is proposed. Different from computing the frequency of HTML tags, we exploit the tree-like structure of HTML tags to characterize the structural features of a web page. Heterogeneous textual features and the proposed tree-like structural features are converted into vectors and fused. Confidence is proposed here as a criterion to compare the classification results of different classifiers by calculating the classification accuracy of a set of samples. Multiple classifiers are combined based on confidence with different decision strategies, such as voting, confidence comparison, and direct output, to give the final classification results. Experimental results demonstrate that on the Amazon dataset, 7-web-genres dataset, and DMOZ dataset, the accuracies are increased to 94.2%, 95.4%, and 95.7%, respectively. The fusion of the textual features with the proposed structural features is a comprehensive approach, and the accuracy is higher than that when using only textual features. At the same time, the accuracy of the web page classification is improved by combining multiple classifiers, and is higher than those of the related web page classification algorithms.

功能单一的结构系统或温控系统已经不能满足航天器的要求,结构-温控功能一体化复合材料受到越来越多的重视。基于热电致冷器(TEC)的热特点,建立了含TEC片的复合材料热智能结构的热分析模型,以SINDA/G软件为仿真平台,研究了TEC片的安放位置、智能结构的热边界条件等因素对结构热分布的影响,还设计了热智能结构的温度控制系统,并利用SIMULINK软件进行了仿真。为热智能结构在计算机芯片的散热设计、红外隐身结构上的应用提供支持。

Gut health benefit and application of postbiotics in animal production

Gut homeostasis is of importance to host health and imbalance of the gut usually leads to disorders or diseases for both human and animal.Postbiotics have been applied in manipulating of gut health,and utilization of postbiotics threads new lights into the host health.Compared with the application of probiotics,the characteristics such as stability and safety of postbiotics make it a potential alternative to probiotics.Studies have reported the beneficial effects of components derived from postbiotics,mainly through the mechanisms including inhibition of pathogens,strengthen gut barrier,and/or regulation of immunity of the host.In this review,we summarized the characteristics of postbiotics,main compounds of postbiotics,potential mechanisms in gut health,and their application in animal production.

Hunting the Datable Garnet using the LA-ICP-MS U-Pb Method:Predicting Garnet U Concentration,based on Major and Minor Elements

Garnet occurs in a wide range of rock types,from mantle peridotites to granites,from eclogites to skarns.In recent years,garnet LA-ICP-MS(Laser Ablation Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry)U-Pb dating has provided a powerful solution for retrieving the ages of rock formations,but successful dating is often prohibited by the low concentration of U.However,the concentration of U,a trace element of garnet,is unknown prior to the LA-ICP-MS analysis.In this study,we propose that the U concentration in garnet can be predicted by the contents of major and minor elements,which can be quantitatively obtained by EPMA(electron probe microanalysis).Using a supervised machine learning method(neural network),a model is trained to discriminate U-rich(>2 ppm)and U-poor(<2 ppm)garnets,based on EPMA results.Results of cross validation shows that the model has an average accuracy of~92%and is a powerful tool in detecting datable U-rich garnet.To facilitate the use of the discriminator,it is programmed as a stand-alone Microsoft Excel spreadsheet(HighUGarnet)and users directly paste the molar proportions of garnet end members into it and obtain the discrimination result.

Recent progress in synthesis and surface modification of nickel-rich layered oxide cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries

Nickel-rich layered oxides have been identified as the most promising commercial cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)for their high theoretical specific capacity.However,the poor cycling stability of nickel-rich cathode materials is one of the major barriers for the large-scale usage of LIBs.The existing obstructions that suppress the capacity degradation of nickel-rich cathode materials are as a result of phase transition,mechanical instability,intergranular cracks,side reaction,oxygen loss,and thermal instability during cycling.Core–shell structures,oxidating precursors,electrolyte additives,doping/coating and synthesizing single crystals have been identified as effective methods to improve cycling stability of nickel-rich cathode materials.Herein,recent progress of surface modification,e.***.coating and doping,in nickel-rich cathode materials are summarized based on Periodic table to provide a clear understanding.Electrochemical performances and mechanisms of modified structure are discussed in detail.It is hoped that an overview of synthesis and surface modification can be presented and a perspective of nickel-rich materials in LIBs can be given.
