Lactobacillus levels and prognosis of patients with acute myocardial infarction

OBJECTIVE To explore the relationship between Lactobacillus and prognosis of acute myocardial infarction(AMI)patients treated by percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)and its correlation with clinical *** Consecutive patients with AMI in the coronary care unit of Tianjin Chest Hospital in China who received emergency PCI between July 2017 and December 2018 were ***’fecal 16 S r DNA gene sequencing data were analyzed and subjects were categorized into low,medium and high level groups according to stool Lactobacillus *** primary endpoints were major adverse cardiac *** regression analysis was used to analyze the relationship between Lactobacillus and *** correlation analysis and trend tests were used to assess the relationship between Lactobacillus and the clinical *** The data of 254 patients were included in the *** age was 65.90±11.56 years,and 152 patients(59.84%)were ***-up time was 652(548.25-753.00)*** Cox regression analysis showed a significantly lower risk of major adverse cardiac events in patients with Lactobacillus>7.1 copies/g[adjusted hazard ratio(HR)=0.216,95%CI:0.094-0.493,P<0.001]compared to patients with Lactobacillus≤3.6 copies/*** significant differences were shown in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction(STEMI)(HR=0.217,95%CI:0.085-0.551,P=0.001).Lactobacillus was a protective factor for male smokers aged over 60 years whose brain natriuretic peptide was over 1,000 pg/m *** correlation analysis showed that Lactobacillus correlated negatively with white blood cells,neutrophils,high-sensitivity C-reactive protein,Troponin T,creatine kinase,creatine kinase-MB and brain natriuretic peptide(downward trend),and correlated positively with left ventricular ejection fraction(upward trend).CONCLUSIONS This study is the first to reveal the correlation between Lactobacillus and inflammation and myocardial damage after STEMI.

Clinical observation of vitrectomy combined with endolaser photocoagulation at the edge of posterior scleral staphyloma for macular hole retinal detachment in high myopia

AIM: To observe the clinical effect of pars plana vitrectomy(PPV) and silicone oil filling surgery combined with intraoperative posterior scleral staphyloma(PS) marginal retinal photocoagulation in the treatment of high myopic macular hole retinal detachment(MHRD) with ***: This was a retrospective clinical study. From May 2017 to March 2020, 62 MHRD patients with PS(62 eyes) were enrolled in the study. Patients were divided into 23 G PPV combined with PS marginal retina intraoperative photocoagulation group(combined group) and conventional surgery group(conventional group), with 31 eyes in each. Triamcinolone acetonide and indocyanine green were used to remove the epiretinal membrane and the posterior macular inner limiting membrane(ILM). In the combined group, 2 to 3 rows of retinal photocoagulation were performed on the edge of the PS. The patients were followed up for an average of 8.34±3.21 mo. The first retinal reattachment rate, macular hole closure rate, Duration of silicone oil tamponade, best corrected visual acuity(BCVA) and average number of operations were observed and compared between the two ***: The first retinal reattachment rates of the eyes in the combined group and the conventional group were 96.7%(29/31) and 67.7%(21/31), respectively(χ~2=6.613, P=0.010). The macular hole closure rates in the combined group and the conventional group were 74.2%(23/31) and 67.7%(21/31), respectively(χ~2=0.128, P=0.721). The Duration of silicone oil tamponade of the patients in the combined group was lower than that of the routine group(t=-41.962, P≤0.001). Postoperative log MAR BCVA values of patients in the combined group and the conventional group were 1.27±0.12 and 1.26±0.11, compared with the log MAR BCVA before surgery, each group was improved(t=19.947, t=-19.517, P≤0.001, P≤0.001). Development of a Multiplex PCR for Diagnosis of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Bacillus cereus from Cows with Endometritis

Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Bacillus cereus are the major agents of cow endometritis in dairy cows. A multiplex PCR （SEB-mPCR） was established based on the conserved genes of S. aureus, E. coli and B. cereus, and the detection limits were 103, 102 and 103 CFU mL-1, respectively. SEB-mPCR could not amplify genomic DNA of pathogenic bacteria of other common bovine diseases. A total of 309 vaginal discharge samples from cows with endometritis were tested by SEB-mPCR. Of the samples, 23.95% had the three kinds of bacteria detected, 17.15% had S. aureu and E. coli, 9.39% had E. coli and B. cereus, and 9.71% had S. aureus and B. cereus. The rates of infections with S. aureus, E. coli and B. cereus were 11.35, 16.18 and 9.06%, respectively. Therefore, SEB-mPCR has a potential as a diagnosis tool for endometritis in dairy cows.

Chronic heart failure （CHF）, as the end-stage presentation of all kinds of heart diseases, is a major public health problem as well issue. There are more than 5 as a pressing public policy million patients diagnosed with CHF in USA alone and approximately 550 000 new cases appear per year. About 0.4%-2% of the European population is affected by symptomatic heart failure. Hence heart failure is the leading cause of hospitalization especially in older people around the world.

Potential proarrhythmic effect of cardiac resynchronization therapy during perioperative period： data from a single cardiac center

Background Cardiac resynchronization therapy （CRT） could improve heart function, symptom status, quality of life and reduce hospitalization and mortality in patients with severe heart failure （HF） with optimal medical management. However,the possible adverse effects of CRT are often ignored by *** A retrospective analysis of CRT over a 6-year period was made in a single cardiac *** Fifty-four patients were treated with CRT（D） device, aged （57±11） years, with left ventricular ejection fraction of （32.1±9.8）%, of which 4 （7%） developed ventricular tachycardia/ventricular fibrillation （VT/VF） or junctional tachycardia after operation. Except for one with frequent ventricular premature beat before operation, the others had no previous history of ventricular arrhythmia. Of the 4 patients, 3 had dilated cardiomyopathy and 1 had ischemic cardiomyopathy,and tachycardia occurred within 3 days after operation. Sustained, refractory VT and subsequent VF occurred in one patient, frequent nonsustained VT in two patients and nonparoxysmal atrioventricular junctional tachycardia in one patient. VT was managed by amiodarone in two patients, amiodarone together with beta-blocker in one patient, and junctional tachycardia was terminated by overdrive pacing. During over 12-month follow-up, except for one patient＇s death due to refractory heart and respiratory failure in hospital, the others remain alive and *** New-onset VT/VF or junctional tachycardia may occur in a minority of patients with or without prior history of tachycardia after biventricular pacing. Arrhythmia can be managed by conventional therapy, but may require temporary discontinuation of pacing. More observational studies should be performed to determine the potential proarrhythmic effect of CRT.

Co-production of hydrogen, oxygen, and electricity via an integrated solar-driven system with decoupled water electrolyzer and Na-Zn ion battery

Combining water electrolysis and rechargeable battery technologies into a single system holds great promise for the co-production of hydrogen （H2） and ***,the design and development of such systems is still in its ***,an integrated hydrogen-oxygen （O2）-electricity co-production system featuring a bipolar membrane-assisted decoupled electrolyzer and a Na-Zn ion battery was established with sodium nickelhexacyanoferrate （NaNiHCF） and Zn2+/Zn as dual redox *** decoupled electrolyzer enables to produce H2and O2in different time and space with almost 100%Faradaic efficiency at 100 mA ***,the charged NaNiHCF and Zn electrodes after the electrolysis processes formed a Na-Zn ion battery,which can generate electricity with an average cell voltage of 1.75 V at 10 m A *** connecting Si photovoltaics with the modular electrochemical device,a well-matched solar driven system was built to convert the intermittent solar energy into hydrogen and electric energy with a solar to hydrogen-electricity efficiency of 16.7%,demonstrating the flexible storage and conversion of renewables.

Rechargeable aqueous zinc-metal batteries （AZMBs） are promising candidates for large-scale energy storage systems due to their low cost and high ***,their performance and sustainability are significantly hindered by the sluggish desolvation kinetics at the electrode/electrolyte interface and the corresponding hydrogen evolution reaction where active water molecules tightly participate in the Zn（H2O）62+solvation ***,learnt from self-generated solid electrolyte interphase （SEI） in anodes,the dielectric but ion-conductive zinc niobate nanoparticles artificial layer is constructed on metallic Zn surface （ZNB@Zn）,acting as a rapid desolvation *** zincophilic and dielectric-conductive properties of ZNB layer accelerate interfacial desolvation/diffusion and suppress surface corrosion or dendrite formation,achieving uniform Zn plating/stripping behavior,as confirmed by electronic/optical microscopies and interface spectroscopical measurements together with theoretical ***,the as-prepared ZNB@Zn electrode exhibits excellent cycling stability of over 2000 h and robust reversibility （99.54%） even under high current density and depth of discharge ***,the assembled ZNB@Zn-based full cell displays high capacity-retention rate of 80.21%after 3000 cycles at 5 A g-1and outstanding rate performance up to 10 A *** large-areal pouch cell is stabilized for hundreds of cycles,highlighting the bright prospects of the dielectric but ion-conductive layer in further application of AZMBs.
