Leaf and root glucosinolate profiles of Chinese cabbage(Brassica rapa ssp. pekinensis) as a systemic response to methyl jasmonate and salicylic acid elicitation

Glucosinolates （GSs） are an important group of defensive phytochemicals mainly found in Brassicaceae. Plant hormones jasmonic acid （JA） and salicylic acid （SA） are major regulators of plant response to pathogen attack. However, there is little information about the interactive effect of both elicitors on inducing GS biosynthesis in Chinese cabbage （Brassica rapa ssp. pekinensis）. In this study, we applied different concentrations of methyl jasmonate （MeJA） and/or SA onto the leaf and root of Chinese cabbage to investigate the time-course interactive profiles of GSs. Re- gardless of the site of the elicitation and the concentrations of the elicitors, the roots accumulated much more GSs and were more sensitive and more rapidly responsive to the elicitors than leaves. Irrespective of the elicitation site, MeJA had a greater inducing and longer lasting effect on GS accumulation than SA. All three components of indole GS （IGS） were detected along with aliphatic and aromatic GSs. However, IGS was a major component of total GSs that ac- cumulated rapidly in both root and leaf tissues in response to MeJA and SA elicitation. Neoglucobrassicin （neoGBC） did not respond to SA but to MeJA in leaf tissue, while it responded to both SA and MeJA in root tissue. Conversion of glucobrassicin （GBC） to neoGBC occurred at a steady rate over 3 d of elicitation. Increased accumulation of 4-methoxy glucobrassicin （4-MGBC） occurred only in the root irrespective of the type of elicitors and the site of elici- tation. Thus, accumulation of IGS is a major metabolic hallmark of SA＊ and MeJA-mediated systemic response sys- tems. SA exerted an antagonistic effect on the MeJA-induced root GSs irrespective of the site of elicitation. However, SA showed synergistic and antagonistic effects on the MeJA-induced leaf GSs when roots and leaves are elicitated for 3 d, respectively.

Co-production of hydrogen, oxygen, and electricity via an integrated solar-driven system with decoupled water electrolyzer and Na-Zn ion battery

Combining water electrolysis and rechargeable battery technologies into a single system holds great promise for the co-production of hydrogen （H2） and ***,the design and development of such systems is still in its ***,an integrated hydrogen-oxygen （O2）-electricity co-production system featuring a bipolar membrane-assisted decoupled electrolyzer and a Na-Zn ion battery was established with sodium nickelhexacyanoferrate （NaNiHCF） and Zn2+/Zn as dual redox *** decoupled electrolyzer enables to produce H2and O2in different time and space with almost 100%Faradaic efficiency at 100 mA ***,the charged NaNiHCF and Zn electrodes after the electrolysis processes formed a Na-Zn ion battery,which can generate electricity with an average cell voltage of 1.75 V at 10 m A *** connecting Si photovoltaics with the modular electrochemical device,a well-matched solar driven system was built to convert the intermittent solar energy into hydrogen and electric energy with a solar to hydrogen-electricity efficiency of 16.7%,demonstrating the flexible storage and conversion of renewables.

Diffuse-type tenosynovial giant cell tumor(dTGCT) is a destructive but rare benign proliferative synovial neoplasm. Although surgery is currently the main treatment modality for dTGCT, the recurrence risk is up to 50%. Therefore, there is a great need for effective drugs against dTGCT with minor side effects. The Janus kinase(JAK)/signal transducer and activator of transcription(STAT) signaling plays a central role in rheumatoid arthritis(RA), a disease with similar characteristics as dTGCT, but its function in dTGCT remains *** fibroblast-like synoviocytes(FLS) and macrophages were isolated from 10 synovial tissue samples from dTGCT patients for the screening and validation of the five clinically approved JAK inhibitors to treat RA against dTGCT. Cell viability, cell death, inflammation and the activity of the JAK family members of cultured dTGCT FLS(both 2-D and 3-D) and macrophages were investigated for the efficacy of the JAK inhibitors. Here, we found that similar to RA, JAK/STAT signaling was markedly activated in the dTGCT synovium. Of the 5 JAK inhibitors, peficitinib was shown to have the most potency in addressing some of the pathological responses of dTGCT FLS and *** potency of peficitinib was much higher than pexidartinib, which is the only FDA-approved drug for dTGCT. Mechanistically, peficitinib inhibited tyrosine kinase 2(TYK2), a JAK family member necessary for the pathological progression of dTGCT FLS and macrophages. In summary, we not only revealed JAK/STAT(especially TYK2) signaling as the major mechanism underlying dTGCT, but also identified peficitinib as a promising drug against dTGCT.

Study on pathogenic genes of dwarfism disease by next-generation sequencing

BACKGROUND There are many factors that lead to dwarfism,and the mechanism has not yet been ***-generation sequencing may identify candidate-related gene mutations,which may clarify the molecular *** To analyze genetic variation by using a constructed panel related to dwarfism by utilizing next-generation sequencing platform sequencing analysis to screen candidate-related gene *** Physical and laboratory characteristics,including clinical examination,growth hormone drug challenge test,serum insulin-like growth factor-1(IGF-1),IGF binding protein 3,other related tests,imaging examination,and chromosome karyotyping,were ***-generation sequencing was performed to analyze pathogenicity *** In the 39 dwarfism patients,10 had pathogenicity *** variation was found in the OBSL1,SLC26A2,PTPN11,COL27AI,HDAC6,CUL7,FGFR3,DYNC2H1,GH1,and ATP7B *** the 10 patients with pathogenicity variability,the related physical characteristics included double breast development and growth hormone deficiency,enuresis and indirect inguinal hernia on the left,two finger distance of 70.2 cm,head circumference of 49.2 cm,ischium/lower body length of 1.8 cm,weak limb muscles,and partial growth hormone *** 6 mo of growth hormone therapy,the concentrations of IGF-1 and IGF binding protein 3 increased from 215.2±170.3 to 285.0±166.0 and 3.9±1.4 to 4.2±1.1,*** OBSL1,SLC26A2,PTPN11,COL27AI,HDAC6,CUL7,FGFR3,DYNC2H1,GH1,and ATP7B genes may be related to the incidence of dwarfism,and more research needs to be performed to elucidate the mechanism.

An Intrinsic Model for the Polarization Position Angle Swing Observed in QSO 1150+812

The rapid polarization position angle swing of ~ 180° observed in QSO 1150+812 at 2cm by Kochenov and Gabuzda is quite a regular event. One interesting property of the event is that, during the time of the swing the polarized flux density remained almost constant. We suggest that such an event can be explained in terms of a relativistic thin shock propagating through a uniform helical magnetic field, giving rise to relativistic aberration effects as the transverse field component rotates. The model may also be applicable to other similar events in which variations in polarization are not accompanied by variations in total flux density.

Haloacetonitrile anions CH2XCN- （X=F, Cl） were studied by HF-SCF, Becke3-LYP, and MP2 methods together with the Dunning＇s basis set aug-cc-PVTZ. The vertical electron attachments to the neutral are endothermic. The geometrically optimized CH2FCN^- is mainly a valence-bounded anion and CH2FCN→CH2CN＋F^- is a nonadiabatic dissociation. This theoretical study in good agreement with the experimental results shows that the Becke3-LYP method is reasonable in describing the electronic structures of anions and dissociative attachment dynamics, while significant differences between MP2 and Becke3-LYP results are shown for the dissociation potential curves of CH2ClCN→CH2CN＋Cl^-.

Comparative study on flow and heat transfer characteristics of sinusoidal and zigzag channel printed circuit heat exchangers

Printed circuit heat exchangers(PCHEs)are promising candidates for recuperators in supercritical CO2 Brayton cycles.A comparative study is given in this paper on the flow and heat transfer characteristics of PCHEs with sinusoidal and zigzag *** mass flow rates of 0.6–1.8 kg/h and the bend angles of 15°–30°,the thermal-hydraulic performance of the PCHEs is *** show that the sinusoidal channel is superior to the zigzag channel in its comprehensive *** bend angles result in greater reductions in pressure drop if sinusoidal channels are used instead of zigzag channels and a maximum of 48.4%reduction can be obtained in the considered working ***,the inlet sections should be carefully optimized since these sections account for up to 31%and 17%of the total pressure drop in the sinusoidal and zigzag channels,*** corner shape of the zigzag channel can be specially designed to further reduce the pressure *** nonuniform density and heat flux distributions in both channels are found to be related to the periodic changes of flow directions and the centrifugal forces should not be ignored when optimizing the sinusoidal and zigzag channels.
