Retinal vascular morphological characteristics in diabetic retinopathy: an artificial intelligence study using a transfer learning system to analyze ultra-wide field images

AIM:To investigate the morphological characteristics of retinal vessels in patients with different severity of diabetic retinopathy(DR)and in patients with or without diabetic macular edema(DME).METHODS:The 239 eyes of DR patients and 100 eyes of healthy individuals were recruited for the *** severity of DR patients was graded as mild,moderate and severe non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy(NPDR)according to the international clinical diabetic retinopathy(ICDR)disease severity scale classification,and retinal vascular morphology was quantitatively analyzed in ultra-wide field images using RU-net and transfer learning *** presence of DME was determined by optical coherence tomography(OCT),and differences in vascular morphological characteristics were compared between patients with and without ***:Retinal vessel segmentation using RU-net and transfer learning system had an accuracy of 99%and a Dice metric of *** with the healthy group,the DR group had smaller vessel angles(33.68±3.01 vs 37.78±1.60),smaller fractal dimension(Df)values(1.33±0.05 vs 1.41±0.03),less vessel density(1.12±0.44 vs 2.09±0.36)and fewer vascular branches(206.1±88.8 vs 396.5±91.3),all P<*** the severity of DR increased,Df values decreased,P=*** significant difference between the DME and non-DME groups were observed in vascular morphological ***:In this study,an artificial intelligence retinal vessel segmentation system is used with 99%accuracy,thus providing with relatively satisfactory performance in the evaluation of quantitative vascular *** patients have a tendency of vascular occlusion and *** presence of DME does not compromise the integral retinal vascular pattern.

Variational Analysis Based on Proximal Subdifferential on Smooth Banach Spaces

This paper first shows that for any p∈(1,2)there exists a continuously differentiable function f on l^(p)(and L^(p))such that the proximal subdifferential of f is empty everywhere,and hence it is not suitable to develop theory on proximal subdifferential in the classical Banach spaces l^(P)and L^(P) with p∈(1,2).On the other hand,this paper establishes variational analysis based on the proximal subdifferential in the framework of smooth Banach spaces of power type 2,which conclude all Hilbert spaces and all the classical spaces l^(P)and L^(P)with p∈(2,+∞).In particular,in such a smooth space,we provide the proximal subdifferential rules for sum functions,product functions,composite functions and supremum functions,which extend the basic results on the proximal subdifferential established in the framework of Hilbert *** of our main results are new even in the Hilbert space *** applications,we provide KKT-like conditions for nonsmooth optimization problems in terms of proximal subdifferential.

Two allyldimethylalkyl quaternary ammonium salt(AQAS)monomers,N,N-dimethylallylphenylpropylammonium bromide(AQAS1)and N,N-dimethylallylnonylammonium bromide(AQAS2),were synthesized and used to prepare modified polyacrylamide *** new drag reducers were synthesized from acrylamide(AM),sodium acrylate(Na AA)and a cationic modified monomer(AQAS1 or AQAS2)via aqueous solution polymerization,and the copolymers were named P(AM/Na AA/AQAS1)and P(AM/Na AA/AQAS2),*** structures of the drag reduction agents were confirmed by IR and1H NMR *** molecular weight(Mw)of P(AM/Na AA/AQAS1)was 1.79×10^(6)g/*** the copolymer concentration was 1000 mg/L and the flow rate was 45 L/min,in fresh water the highest drag reduction rate was 75.8%,in 10,000 mg/L Na Cl solution the drag reduction rate decreased to 72.9%.The molecular weight of P(AM/Na AA/AQAS2)was 3.17×10^(6)g/*** the copolymer concentration was500 mg/L and the flow rate was 45 L/min,the drag reduction rate reached 75.2%,and in 10,000 mg/L Na Cl solution the drag reduction rate was 73.3%,decreased by approximately 1.9%.The drag reduction rate for partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide(HPAM)was also investigated,and the results showed that the drag reduction rates for 500 and 1000 mg/L HPAM solutions were merely 43.2%and 49.0%in brine,*** with HPAM,both of the above copolymers presented better drag reduction capacities.

High-pressure die casting(HPDC)is one of the most popular mass production processes in the automotive industry owing to its capability for part ***,the nonuniform distribution of mechanical properties in large-sized HPDC products adds complexity to part property ***,a methodology for property prediction must be *** characterization,simulation technologies,and artificial intelligence(AI)algorithms were ***,an image recognition technique was employed to construct a temperature-microstructure characteristic model for a typical HPDC Al7Si0.2Mg ***,a porosity/microstructure-mechanical property model was established using a machine learning method based on the finite element method and representative volume element model ***,the computational results of the casting simulation software were mapped with the porosity/microstructure-mechanical property model,allowing accurate prediction of the property distribution of the HPDC Al-Si *** AI-enabled property distribution model developed in this study is expected to serve as a foundation for intelligent HPDC part design platforms in the automotive industry.

Mechanical Stimulus Inhibits the Growth of a Bone Tissue Model Cultured In Vitro

Objectives To construct the cancellous bone explant model and a method of culturing these bone tissues in vitro, and to investigate the effect of mechanical load on growth of cancellous bone tissue in vtro. Methods Cancellous bone were extracted from rabbit femoral head and cut into I-ram-thick and 8-ram-diameter slices under sterile conditions. HE staining and scanning electron microscopy were employed to identify the histomorphology of the model after being cultured with a new dynamic load and circulating perfusion bioreactor system for 0, 3, 5, and 7 days, respectively. We built a three-dimensional model using microCT and analyzed the loading effects using finite element analysis. The model was subjected to mechanical load of 1000, 2000, 3000, and 4000 με respectively for 30 minutes per day. After 5 days of continuous stimuli, the activities of alkaline phosphatase （AKP） and tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase （TRAP） were detected. Apoptosis was analyzed by DNA ladder detection and caspase-3/8/9 activity detection. Results After being cultured for 3, 5, and 7 days, the bone explant model grew well. HE staining showed the apparent nucleus in cells at the each indicated time, and electron microscope revealed the living cells in the bone tissue. The activities of AKP and TRAP in the bone explant model under mechanical load of 3000 and 4000 με were significantly lower than those in the unstressed bone tissues （all P〈0.05）. DNA ladders were seen in the bone tissue under 3000 and 4000με mechanical load. Moreover, there was significant enhancement in the activities of caspase-3/8/9 in the mechanical stress group of 3000 and 4000 με （all P〈0.05）. Conclusions The cancellous bone explant model extracted from the rabbit femoral head could be alive at least for 7 days in the dynamic load and circulating perfusion bioreactor system, however, pathological mechanical load could affect the bone tissue growth by apoptosis in vitro. Microbial lipid fermentation encompasses intricate complex cell growth processes and heavily relies on expert experience for optimal *** modeling of the fermentation process assists researchers in making intelligent decisions,employing logical reasoning and strategic planning to optimize lipid *** this study,the effects of medium components and concen-trations on lipid fermentation were investigated,*** then,leveraging the collated data,a variety of machine learning algorithms were used to model and optimize the lipid fermentation *** models,based on artificial neural networks and support vector machines,achieved R?values all higher than 0.93,ensuring accurate predictions of the fermentation *** linear regression was used to evaluate the respective target parameter,which were affected by the medium components of lipid ***,single and multi-objective optimiza-tion were conducted for lipid fermentation using the genetic *** results demonstrated the maximum biomass of 50.3 g·L^(-1) and maximum lipid concentration of 14.1 g:L^(-1) with the error between the experimental and predicted values less than 5%.The results of the multi-objective optimization reveal the synergistic and competitive relationship between biomass,lipid concentration,and conversion rate,which lay a basis for in-depth optimization and amplification.
