Predication of Selective Ring-opening Hydrogenolysis for Furfuryl Alcohol to Produce Pentanediol over Dual-atom Catalysts

Selective activation of C-O bond is of fundamental importance in the precise conversion of oxygenates into value-added compounds in an atom-economic and sustainable manner, and meanwhile, the structurally well-defined dual-atoms catalysts (DACs) have been scarcely investigated in this field. In this study, a series of transition metal DACs anchored on nitrogen-doped graphene (TM2/NC, TM=Pt, Ir, Rh, Pd, Ru, Co, Ni and Cu) was constructed to make a comprehensive investigation of their selectivity in the hydrogenative transformation of furfuryl alcohol (FAL), an important biomass platform molecule, to 1,2-pentanediol (1,2-PeD) via selective cleavage of furanic C5-O bond, by density functional theory (DFT) calculations and microkinetic modeling. We found that Ir2/NC demonstrated a high selectivity for the cleavage of furanic C5-O bond to produce 1,2-PeD, while the production of THFAL or 1,5-pentanediol (1,5-PeD) on other TM2/NC catalysts are more favorable. Furthermore, we found that the selective C-O bond cleavage of FAL furan ring is affected by the orbital overlap between the d-orbitals of the anchored metal atoms and the p-orbitals of the adsorbed C atom in FAL, suggesting that the selectivity of the C-O bond cleavage is inextricably related with the electronic property of the anchored metals.

The effect of hydrogen and helium interaction,especially H-He ratio,on the irradiation behavior of nuclear materials has not yet been ***,this is an important basis for evaluating the irradiation properties of nuclear materials and developing high irradiation resistant ***,30 keV H_(2)^(+)and He^(+)dual beams with four H-He ratios of 0:10,3:10,15:10,and 30:10 were used to irradiate the newly developed Fe9Cr1.5W0.4Si F/M steel in TEM to in-situ study the interaction and ratio effect of hydrogen and *** addition of H atoms significantly promoted the nucleation of dislocation loops and *** the early stage of irradiation,the average size and density of dislocation loops increased with the increase of H-He ***,the larger the H-He ratio,the easier it was to form a complex dislocation ***,the final saturation size of bubbles increased with the increase of H-He *** was first found that the swelling was affected by H concentrations,with high H concentrations slowing down the increase in *** a certain irradiation dose,a specific H-He ratio would lead to a swelling peak of Fe9Cr1.5W0.4Si F/M *** super-sized bubbles at grain boundaries(GBs)were found after H addition,resulting in a bigger swelling of GBs than the *** the swelling of the GBs and the matrix show a dependence on the H-He *** current work is of great significance for understanding the interaction between hydrogen and helium in nuclear materials.

Evaluation of Functional and Radiological Outcome of Arthroscopic-Assisted Anatomical Coracoclavicular (CC) and Acromioclavicular (AC) Ligament Reconstruction in Chronic AC Joint Dislocation

Introduction: Acromioclavicular (AC) joint dislocation is a common shoulder injury, comprising 9% - 12% of shoulder girdle injuries. Optimal management remains challenging, with treatment decisions guided by the Rockwood classification system. Controversies surround grade III injuries, necessitating further classification. Non-operative treatment has shown favorable outcomes, while surgical interventions vary. Anatomical coracoclavicular reconstruction (ACCR) has demonstrated biomechanical advantages over traditional methods. Arthroscopic techniques offer advantages, minimizing deltoid detachment and allowing concurrent pathology identification. This study evaluates the outcomes of arthroscopic-assisted ACCR in chronic AC joint dislocation. Surgical Technique: Arthroscopic-assisted ACCR involves meticulous portal placement, tendon graft harvesting, diagnostic arthroscopy, and coracoid exposure. The clavicle tunnels were made to mimic the conoid and trapezoid ligament positions, using FibreTape#2 loop and Dog Bone Button for correct placement against the coracoid base, and passing the semitendinosus graft through to reconstruct the conoid ligament, reduction done and graft follow through for anatomical reconstruction. Methods: A retrospective cohort study at Hospital Kuala Lumpur analyzed 35 patients undergoing arthroscopic-assisted ACCR for Rockwood grade III - V AC joint dislocations. Inclusion criteria encompassed trauma ≥ 3 weeks prior, no prior shoulder injuries, and ≥12-month follow-up. Functional and radiological assessments utilized ASES scores and coracoclavicular distances, respectively. Statistical analysis employed descriptive statistics and logistic regression. Results: The mean age was 38.9 years (SD 11.26), and 34 of 35 patients were male. Grade IV injuries were predominant (37.1%). Waiting time for surgery averaged 234.9 days.
