Based on the detection of differential Renyi information (DRI) of segmented pre- and post-compression radio-frequency (RF) echo signals, a novel method for evaluating tissue inhornogeneity in elastography prior to the cross-correlation operation is proposed. In vitro experiments were carried out to corroborate the performance of the DRI method. Experimental results illustrate that valuable insights into local tissue inhomogeneity can be obtained through analyzing the DRI curves of the echo segments, which can provide information to aid the study of strain estimation algorithm in elastography.

Objective To study the effect of 4-6 weeks’ treadmill training of male SD rats on the contractile function of their gastrocnemius myosin heavy chain (MHC). Methods Forty male SD rats were randomly divided into control group and training group. The treadmill training of the training group rats was incessantly performed for 4-6 weeks at an intensity of about 75% VO2max (18.5-24 m/min,gradient of 0°,each training session lasting 50 minutes,twice a day). The content of gastrocnemius MHC mRNA was tested by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR),and the changes of muscle fibre and its cross-section area (CSA) were measured using immunohistochemistry. Electric stimulation tests were used to determine the maximal tension of isometric contraction of the post-training gastrocnemius. Results ① After continuous treadmill training for 4-6 weeks,we found that the content of the total MHC,MHC Ⅰ,MHC Ⅱx,MHC Ⅱa mRNAs was 105%,105%,109% and 108% of that in the resting control group,respectively,and the MHC Ⅱb mRNA content did not change significantly. The percentage of MHC Ⅰ mRNA in the total MHC mRNA increased while that of MHC Ⅱ mRNA decreased after aerobic training. ② The slow type of fibre type Ⅰ was the main part of the MHC after training and the CSA of the muscle fibres increased simultaneously. ③ The maximal tension of isometric contraction by pulse stimulation of square wave in the training group increased significantly compared with that in the control group (P<0.01). Conclusion The findings indicate that aerobic exercise may promote an increase in the contractile function of MHC.

To improve the existing human papillomavirus type16 (HPV16) virus-like particle (VLP) preparation, a highly efficient, economical and timesaving system was established. Sf-9 cells were infected with recombinant baculovirus containing the target gene encoding HPV16L1 protein with 6×His tag, and harvested 72 h postinfection (p.i.) at 27 °C. The ProBondTM purification system was used for protein purification. The molecular weight of expressed HPV16L1 protein was 58 kD as revealed by SDS-PAGE, and confirmed by Western blot. The purity of denatured and native HPVL1 proteins that were prepared were 91.9% and 71.5%, respectively, which corresponded to a yield of 2.26 mg denatured protein and 1.84 mg native protein per 2×107 cells. The proteins were further analyzed by mouse erythrocyte hemagglutination assay and hemagglutination inhibition assay, and there effects on VLP formation were also visualized by transmission electron microscopy. Results showed that the native protein purified was biologically active as natural HPVL1 protein, inducing the murine erythrocyte agglutination and VLP formation. In addition, the purified recombinant HPV16L1 native protein with 6×His tag could self-assemble into virions in vitro. Hopefully, the present expression and purification system is promising to be convenient, timesaving and economical for preparation of HPV16 VLP vaccine.

Human phonation does not merely depend on the vibration of the vocal folds. Research by clinical and computer simulations has demonstrated that the false vocal fold (FVF) is an important laryngeal con-striction that plays a vital role during human voice production. This study explored the effects of the FVF gaps using both the three-dimensional Plexiglas model and the numerical computation methods. Twelve FVF gaps (ranging from 0.02 to 2.06 cm) were used in this study at three glottal angles (uniform and convergent/divergent 40°), two minimal glottal diameters (Dg) (0.04 cm and 0.06 cm) separately, and the constant subglottal pressure (8 cm H2O). The results suggested that (1) the intralaryngeal pressure was the lowest and the flow was the highest (least flow resistance) when the FVF gap was 1.5-2 times greater than Dg; (2) the divergent glottal angle gave lower pressure and greater flow than the conver-gent and uniform glottal angle as there were no FVF conditions; (3) the presence of the FVF decreased the effects of the glottal angle to a certain extent; and more importantly, (4) the presence of the FVF also moved the separation points downstream, straightened the glottal jet for a longer distance, decreased the overall laryngeal resistance, and reduced the energy dissipation, suggesting the significance of FVF in efficient voice production. These results may be incorporated in the phonatory models (physical or computational) for better understanding of vocal mechanics. The results might also be helpful in exploring the surgical and rehabilitative intervention of related voice problems.

This paper introduces a novel variation of binary particle swarm optimization(BPSO) algorithm and a further extension to improve its ***,mimicking the behaviors of some creatures group,multiple evolutionary strategies BPSO(MBPSO) is introduced which takes different evolutionary strategies for various particles according to their ***,on the basis of MBPSO,a new strategy is discussed to improve the performance of the MBPSO(M2BPSO) which adopts the concept of the mutation operator aiming to overcome the premature convergence and slow convergent speed during the later stages of the *** proposed two algorithms are tested on seven benchmark functions and their results are compared with those obtained by other *** results show that our methods outperform the other algorithms.

Cognitive radio systems should not only have the ability to sense and exploit "frequency spectrum holes",but also the ability to sense and utilize "spatial spectrum holes".In this paper,we consider the issue of maximizing the throughput of the cognitive systems by fully utilizing "spatial spectrum holes" brought in by multiple cognitive users,in the scenario where a pair of licensed users and a cognitive broadcast system share multiple spectrum *** exploiting the channel reciprocity under the premise that the licensed system adopts the time-division-duplexing (TDD) mode,we propose a more practical cognitive access scheme that can sense the interference at the licensed user caused by the cognitive transmitter,based on the existing feedback signals from the licensed user to the licensed base *** both interferences from the licensed base station to the cognitive receiver and from the cognitive transmitter to the licensed user into consideration,we investigate the optimal user scheduling and power allocation scheme that can maximize the ergodic sum rate of the cognitive *** show that scheduling the user whose channel gain to interference and noise ratio (CGINR) is the largest for each frequency band is *** also derive the dynamic power allocation scheme meeting the three practical constraints,i.e.,the transmitter's average transmission power constraint,the power amplifier's instantaneous transmission power constraint,and the interference power constraint at the licensed *** result shows that in different coherent time intervals and different frequency bands,the power allocation has a multi-level waterfilling *** analysis shows that the strategy scheduling user with the largest CGINR introduces significant performance improvement compared with the traditional strategy scheduling user with the largest channel gain to noise ratio (CGNR).We also illustrate the impact of power constraints and the number of users on system p
