Liver fibrosis is a significant health burden,marked by the consistent deposition of ***,the currently available treatment approaches for this condition are far from *** oxidase-like protein 2.LOXL2.secreted by hepatic stellate cells(HSCs)is a crucial player in the cross-linking of matrix collagen and is a significant target for treating liver *** stem cell-derived small extracellular vesicles(MSC-sEVs)have been proposed as a potential treatment option for chronic liver *** studies have found that MSC-sEV can be used for microRNA delivery into target cells or *** is currently unclear whether microRNA-4465(miR-4465)can target LOXL2.and inhibit HSC ***,it is uncertain whether MSC-sEV can be utilized as a gene therapy vector to carry miR-4465 and effectively inhibit the progression of liver *** study explored the effect of miR-4465-modified MSC-sEV(MSC-sEVmiR-4465)on LOXL2.expression and liver fibrosis *** results showed that miR-4465 can bind specifically to the promoter of the LOXL2.gene in ***,MSC-sEVmiR-4465 inhibited HSC activation and collagen expression by downregulating LOXL2.expression in ***-sEVmiR-4465 injection could reduce HSC activation and collagen deposition in the CCl4-induced mouse ***-sEVmiR-4465 mediating via LOXL2.also hindered the migration and invasion of HepG2.*** conclusion,we found that MSC-sEV can deliver miR-4465 into HSC to alleviate liver fibrosis via altering LOXL2.which might provide a promising therapeutic strategy for liver diseases.

Among minimally invasive surgical procedures,colorectal surgery is associated with a notably higher incidence of incisional hernia(IH),ranging from 1.7% to 2..3%.This complication poses a significant burden on the healthcare system annually,necessitating urgent attention from *** a study published in the World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery,Fan et al compared the incidence of IH among 1614 patients who underwent laparoscopic colorectal surgery with different extraction site locations and evaluated the risk factors associated with its *** editorial analyzes the current risk factors for IH after laparoscopic colorectal surgery,emphasizing the impact of obesity,surgical site infection,and the choice of incision location on its ***,we summarize the currently available preventive measures for *** the low surgical repair rate and high recurrence rate associated with IH,prevention deserves greater research and attention compared to treatment.

Highly enhanced thermoelectric and mechanical performance of copper sulfides via natural mineral in-situ phase separation

In situ phase separation precipitates play an important role in enhancing the thermoelectric properties of copper sulfides by suppressing phonon *** this study,Cu1.8S composites were fabricated by melting reactions and spark plasma *** complex structures,namely,micron-PbS,Sb_(2.S_(3),nano-FeS,and multiscale pores,originate from the introduction of FePb_(4)Sb_(6)S_(14)into the Cu1.8S *** effective element(Fe)doping and multiscale precipitates,the Cu_(1.8)S+0.5 wt%FePb_(4)Sb_(6)S_(14)bulk composite reached a high dimensionless figure of merit(ZT)value of 1.1 at 773 ***,the modulus obtained for this sample was approximately 40.2. GPa,which was higher than that of the pristine *** study provides a novel strategy for realizing heterovalent doping while forming various precipitates via in situ phase separation by natural minerals,which has been proven to be effective in improving the thermoelectric and mechanical performance of copper sulfides and is worth promoting in other thermoelectric systems.

Success of susceptibility-guided eradication of Helicobacter pylori in a region with high secondary clarithromycin and levofloxacin resistance rates

Tuning the membrane rejection behavior by surface wettability engineering for an effective water-in-oil emulsion separation

Membrane-based separation is a promising technology to eliminate water impurities from the oil ***,it remains a great challenge to separate water from highly emulsified viscous oil owing to the high stability of the water droplets in *** we report a surface wettability engineering on an alumina ceramic membrane to achieve an efficient separation of a water-in-oil(W/O)*** with different carbon chain lengths and fluorinated status were introduced to endow the alumina membrane with different surface *** all the modified membranes exhibited excellent separation of the W/O without Span 80(surfactant),the one with amphiphobic wettability and lowest surface energy failed to separate the Span 80 stabilized W/*** presence of Span 80 reduced the interfacial tension of water droplets,making them easier to deform and penetrate the modified membrane with the lowest surface *** reveals that engineering proper surface wettability is the key to separating the oil and water ***,the modified membranes maintained decent separation performance and stability under long-term run separation of the emulsified W/O.

This editorial discusses a recently published paper in the World Journal of *** research focuses on p53's regulatory mechanism for controlling ferroptosis,as well as the intricate connection between ferroptosis and liver *** is a specific form of programmed cell death that is dependent on iron and displays unique features in terms of morphology,biology,and genetics,distinguishing it from other forms of cell *** can affect the liver,which is a crucial organ responsible for iron storage and *** evidence indicates a robust correlation between ferroptosis and the advancement of liver disorders.P53 has a dual effect on ferroptosis through various distinct signaling ***,additional investigations are required to clarify the regulatory function of p53 metabolic targets in this complex association with *** the future,researchers should clarify the mechanisms by which ferroptosis and other forms of programmed cell death contribute to the progression of liver *** and controlling important regulatory factors associated with ferroptosis present a promising therapeutic strategy for liver disorders.

BACKGROUND Lung cancer(LC)is the leading cause of malignancy-related deaths *** most common sites of metastasis include the nervous system,bone,liver,respiratory system,and adrenal *** metastasis in the parotid gland is very rare,and its diagnosis presents a ***,we report a case of parotid metastasis in primary *** SUMMARY The patient was a 74-year-old male who was discovered to have bilateral facial asymmetry inadvertently two years *** right earlobe was slightly swollen and without pain or *** tomography(CT)examination showed bilateral lung space-occupying *** biopsy was performed and revealed adenocarcinoma(right-upper-lung nodule tissue).Positron emission tomography-CT examination showed:(1)Two hypermetabolic nodules in the right upper lobe of the lung,enlarged hy-permetabolic lymph nodes in the right hilar and mediastinum,and malignant space-occupying lesion in the right upper lobe of the lung and possible metastasis to the right hilar and mediastinal lymph nodes;and(2.multiple hypermetabolic nodules in bilateral parotid *** puncture biopsy was performed considering lung adenocarcinoma *** detection of lung biopsy specimens revealed an EGFR gene 2. exon L858R *** This case report highlights the challenging diagnosis of parotid metastasis in LC given its rare *** lesions should be differentiated from primary tumors of the parotid *** radiological imaging is unreliable,and puncture biopsy is needed for final diagnosis of this condition.

Graphitic carbon nitride nanosheets mitigate cadmium toxicity in Glycine max *** promoting cadmium retention in root and improving photosynthetic performance

Cadmium(Cd)pollution poses a serious threat to plant growth and *** have shown great application potential for alleviation of Cd toxicity to *** this study,we applied graphitic carbon nitride nanosheets(g-C_(3)N_(4)NSs)for alleviation of Cd-toxicity to soybean(Glycine max L.).The g-C_(3)N_(4)NSs supplementation significantly improved plant growth and reduced oxidative damage in the Cd-toxicated soybean seedlings through hydroponic ***,the g-C_(3)N_(4)NSs dynamically regulated the root cell wall(RCW)components by increasing pectin content and modifying its demethylation via enhancing pectin methylesterase(PME)activity,therefore greatly enhanced stronger RCW-Cd retention(up to 82.8%)and reduced Cd migration to the ***,the g-C_(3)N_(4)NSs reversed the Cd-induced chlorosis,increased photosynthetic efficiency because of enhancement in F_v/F_mration,Y(Ⅱ)and sugars *** results provide new insights into the alleviation of Cd toxicity to plants by g-C_(3)N_(4)NSs,and shed light on the application of low-cost and environmental-friendly carbon-based NMs for alleviating heavy metal toxicity to plants.

Dual-curvilinear beam enabled tunable manipulation of high-and low-refractive-index particles

We present an innovative approach for the simultaneous agile manipulation of high-refractive-index(HRI) and low-refractive-index(LRI) particles. Our method involves introducing a dual-curvilinear optical vortex beam(DC-OVB) generated by superimposing a pair of curved beams: HRI and LRI particles are controlled by the bright curve and the dark channel between the two curves, respectively. The proposed DC-OVB provides customizable motion paths and velocities for both LRI and HRI particles. Each curve of the DC-OVB can support a distinct orbital flow density(OFD), enabling the application of torques to HRI and LRI particles, guiding them to orbit along specified trajectories and prompting them to execute various curvilinear motions simultaneously,including curvilinear movement, revolution, and rotation.
