Response of Bacterial Community and Enzyme Activity of Greenhouse Tomato under Different Irrigation Systems

Incidence and risk factors of depression in patients with metabolic syndrome

Alleviation of the plastic deformation of gel ink under strong stress through an esterification of xanthan gum reinforcing its double helix structure

As a natural organic polymer,xanthan gum(XG)can alleviate the plastic deformation of gel ink under strong stress and realize the reasonable regulation of the rheological properties of gel ***,as the double-helix structure connected by hydrogen bonds cannot resist the mechanical environment of strong stress,XG shows poor shear *** this study,a polymer gel with interpenetrating polymer network structure was prepared by esterifying XG,taking polystyrene maleic anhydride(SMA)as the *** addition to retaining the excellent rheological properties of XG,the generated polymer gel also exhibited high shear *** optimal addition amount of the esterification reaction modifier was determined as mXG:mSMA=5:3 according to the gel ink *** this amount,the viscosity of the modified xanthan gum(SXG)gel increased to 1578.8 mPa·s and 100.7 mPa·s at shear rates of 4 s1 and 383 s1,respectively,and the shear resistance increased more than 2 times compared to the unmodified *** is because of the ester bond formed by esterification that the reaction strengthens the interaction between molecular segments,enabling the new gel to resist to strong mechanical *** new polymer gel studied in this paper and the proposed mechanism of action provide new insights for the development of high-end gel ink and also provide theoretical support for the study of rheological properties of non-Newtonian fluids.

Time-dependent model for two-phase flow in ultra-high water-cut reservoirs: Time-varying permeability and relative permeability

For the ultra-high water-cut reservoirs, after long-term water injection exploitation, the physical properties of the reservoir change and the heterogeneity of the reservoir becomes increasingly severe, which further aggravates the spatial difference of the flow field. In this study, the displacement experiments were employed to investigate the variations in core permeability, porosity, and relative permeability after a large amount of water injection. A relative permeability endpoint model was proposed by utilizing the alternating conditional expectation(ACE) transformation to describe the variation in relative permeability based on the experimental data. Based on the time dependent models for permeability and relative permeability, the traditional oil-water two-phase model was improved and discretized using the mimetic finite difference method(MFD). The two cases were launched to confirm the validation of the proposed model. The impact of time-varying physical features on reservoir production performance was studied in a real water flooding reservoir. The experimental results indicate that the overall relative permeability curve shifts to the right as water injection increases. This shift corresponds to a transition towards a more hydrophilic wettability and a decrease in residual oil saturation. The endpoint model demonstrates excellent accuracy and can be applied to time-varying simulations of reservoir physics. The impact of variations in permeability and relative permeability on the reservoir production performance yields two distinct outcomes. The time-varying permeability of the reservoir results in intensified water channeling and poor development effects. On the other hand, the time-varying relative permeability enhances the oil phase seepage capacity, facilitating oil displacement. The growing aging population along with the shifting dietary paradigm to Western-type diet worldwide has been implicated in the increasing prevalence of cognitive impairment. Emerging evidence suggests that a high-fiber diet may help improve cognitive function through the gut-brain axis. Euglena gracilis， a unicellular microalga rich in β-1，3-glucans， has gained attention due to its modulatory effect on gut dysbiosis and inflammatory response. This study aimed to explore the efficacy and mechanism of β-1，3-glucans-rich Euglena gracilis powder (EG) against high-fat-high-fructose (HFHF) diet-induced cognitive disorders in mice. A middle-aged (52-week-old C57BL/6J) mouse model with the following groups was adopted: HFHF， HFHF+EG， and control. At the end of the dietary intervention (8 weeks)， cognitive behaviors， metabolic parameters， endotoxin levels， gut microbiota composition， and colon and brain pathology were examined. The results showed that EG supplementation attenuated HFHF-induced cognitive impairment， promoted synaptogenesis in the hippocampus， and improved synaptic ultrastructure. These beneficial effects were partly mediated through the upregulation of PTP1B-IRS-pAKT-pGSK3β-pTau signaling. Furthermore， it prevented gut dysbiosis as evidenced by an increase in β-diversity and enrichment of Akkermansia relative to control. EG supplementation was also able to partly reverse the HFHF-induced disruption of intestinal barrier， which was accompanied by reduced systemic and neuronal inflammation， normalized short-chain fatty acid production， and decreased serum lipopolysaccharide concentration. The findings from the present study support that β-1，3-glucans-rich EG is a promising natural agent for the prevention of HFHF diet-induced deterioration in cognitive function that merits further investigation.
