OBJECTIVE: To investigate blood pressure rhythm(BPR)in Yin deficiency syndrome of hypertension(YDSH)patients and develop a random forest model for predicting ***: Our study was consistent with technical processes and specification for developing guidelines of Evidence-based Chinese medicine clinical practice(T/CACM 1032-2017). We enrolled 234 patients who had been diagnosed with primary hypertension without antihypertensive medications prior to the enrollment. All participants were divided into Yin deficiency group(YX, n = 74) and non-Yin deficiency group(NYX, n = 160).Participants were professionally grouped by three experienced chief Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)physicians according to four examinations(i.e.,inspection, listening and smelling, inquiry and palpation).We collected data on 24 h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring(ABPM) and YDSH rating scale. We divided 24 h of a day into 12 two-hour periods [Chen-Shi(7:00-9:00), Si-Shi(9:00-11:00), Wu-Shi(11:00-13:00), Wei-Shi(13:00-15:00), Shen-Shi(15:00-17:00), You-Shi(17:00-19:00), xu-Shi(19:00-21:00), Hai-Shi(21:00-23:00), ZiShi(23:00-1:00), Chou-Shi(1:00-3:00), Yin-Shi(3:00-5:00), Mao-Shi(5:00-7:00)] according to the theory of “midnight-midday ebb flow”. We used random forest to build the diagnostic model of YDSH, with whether it was Yin deficiency syndrome as the outcome. RESULTS: Compared with NYX group, YX group had more female participants with older age, lower waist circumference, body mass index(BMI), diastolic blood pressure(DBP), and smoking and drinking rate(all P < 0.05). The YDSH rating scores of YX group [28.5(21.0-36.0)] were significantly higher than NYX group [13.0(8.0-22.0)](P < 0.001), and the typical symptoms of YX group included vexing heat in the chest, palms and soles, dizziness, dry eyes, string-like and fine pulse, soreness and weakness of lumbus and knees, palpitations, reddened cheeks, and tinnitus(all P < 0.05). Soil organic carbon(SOC)and nitrogen(N)mineralization are important biogeochemical processes associated with soil *** processes are influenced by physically,chemically,and biologically stabilized SOC fractions,the mechanisms of which are not well *** present study was conducted to evaluate the combined effect of manure and mineral fertilizers on the contents of SOC fractions to promote the mineralization of SOC and *** included:i)no fertilizer control(CK);ii)a combination of mineral N,phosphorus,and potassium fertilizers(NPK);iii)manure alone(M);iv)manure combined with NPK(MNPK);and v)a high dose of manure combined with NPK(hMNPK).The combined uses of manure and mineral fertilizers(MNPK and hMNPK)enhanced the accumulation of the unprotected coarse particulate organic carbon(C)fraction(cPOC)by 44%-72%compared to *** applications(M,MNPK and hMNPK)enhanced physically microaggregate-protected organic C(μagg),physicochemically protected organic C within the microaggregate-derived silt(μsilt)fraction(H-μsilt),and physicobiochemically protected organic C within theμsilt fraction(NH-μsilt)by 30%-56%,62%-150%,and 27%-51%,*** contrast,all chemically and biochemically protected SOC fractions showed a minor response to manure *** of cPOC,μagg,H-μsilt,and physicochemically protected organic C within the microaggregate-derived clay fraction(H-μclay)significantly contributed to the mineralization of SOC and N,resulting in a significant increase in rice grain yield with long-term manure *** summary,long-term combined use of manure and mineral fertilizers improved SOC accumulation in unprotected and physically protected fractions,which enhanced SOC and N mineralization and benefited soil productivity in a rice-wheat cropping system.

Tongue and pulse features of 668 asymptomatic patients infected with the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 omicron variant in Shanghai

OBJECTIVE: To characterize the tongue and pulse manifestations in asymptomatic coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) cases in Shanghai. METHODS: We conducted a clinical study of 668 patients with asymptomatic infections in which we analyzed the tongue and pulse features in the Shanghai New International Expo Center mobile cabin hospital. The medical records of the patients, including tongue color, tongue coating, and pulse manifestations, were reviewed by healthcare workers. RESULTS: In total, 668 COVID-19 cases were included in the study. Patient age ranged from 5 to 96 years, with a median of 44.0(IQR 33.0-53.0) years. Among the patients, 6.14% had comorbidities. The most common comorbid condition was diabetes(1.65%), followed by hypertension(0.89%), coronary heart disease(0.89%), thrombotic diseases(0.89%), congestive heart failure(0.60%), and stroke(0.45%). Pink-red(75.4%) was the most common tongue color, followed by red(23.4%) and pale red(1.2%). Tongue coating color and thickness were classified as white fur(9.28%), thin and yellow fur(48.65%), white greasy fur(8.98%), yellow greasy fur(24.70%), and less coating(8.39%). In addition, a large number of patients(n = 300, 44.91%) presented superficial and rapid pulses, and 250 patients(37.4%) exhibited a slippery pulse. CONCLUSION: Our preliminary results showed that wind, heat, and dampness were the main etiologies of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 Omicron(B.1.1.529) variant infection in traditional Chinese medicine. Furthermore, the main symptoms of the disease may be wind-heat invading the lung syndrome or damp-heat with the exuberance of virulence syndrome, which is of most significance in COVID-19 treatment.

Metal–phenolic coordination crystals derived magnetic hollow carbon spheres for ultrahigh electromagnetic wave absorption

Owing to the tunable compositions and versatile functionality,the development of eco-friendly metal–phenolic coordination crystals derivatives is highly anticipated for electromagnetic wave *** this study,three kinds of magnetic hollow carbon spheres(HCSs)with macro-meso-microporous characteristics,including Fe/HCS,Co/HCS,and CoNi/HCS,are successfully fabricated via the co-operative hard template and self-assembling process,in which magnetic particles are encapsulated in carbon shell matrix after the pyrolysis of metal–polyphenol coordination crystals and further subsequent template *** the one hand,hierarchical macro-meso-micropores effectively balance the impedance gap between absorbers and air and introduce structural defects or distortion,leading to matched impedance and enhanced dipolar/defect *** the other hand,wrapped magnetic particles provide uncountable hetero-interfaces and induce ferromagnetic resonance,resulting in strengthened interfacial polarization and additional magnetic *** particular,enhanced minimum reflection loss(RL,min)and broadband effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)are achieved with only 10 wt.%filler ***,the RL,min and EAB values are-57.5 dB and 7.2 GHz for Fe/HCS,-50.0 dB and 5.8 GHz for Co/HCS,and-52.1 dB and 6.7 GHz for CoNi/HCS,***,this work provides us a modular-assembly strategy to regulate the hollow cavity of absorbers and simultaneously manipulates the chemical components of absorbers to regulate electromagnetic wave absorption performance.

Matrix expression and reachability analysis of finite automata

In this paper, we propose a matrix-based approach for finite automata and then study the reachability conditions. Both the deterministic and nondeterministic automata are expressed in matrix forms, and the necessary and sufficient conditions on reachability are given using semitensor product of matrices. Our results show that the matrix expression provides an effective computational way for the reachability analysis of finite automata.

Changes in concentrations and transcripts of plant hormones in wheat seedling roots in response to Fusarium crown rot

Fusarium crown rot(FCR) is a soilborne disease causing severe yield losses in many wheat-growing areas of the world. Diseased plants show browning and necrosis of roots and stems causing white heads at maturity. Little is known about the molecular processes employed by wheat roots to respond to the disease. We characterized morphological, transcriptional and hormonal changes in wheat seedling roots following challenge with Fusarium pseudograminearum(Fp), the main pathogen of FCR. The pathogen inhibited root development to various extents depending on plants' resistance level. Many genes responsive to FCR infection in wheat roots were enriched in plant hormone pathways. The contents of compounds involved in biosynthesis and metabolism of jasmonic acid, salicylic acid, cytokinin and auxin were drastically changed in roots at five days post-inoculation. Presoaking seeds in methyl jasmonate for 24 h promoted FCR resistance, whereas presoaking with cytokinin 6-benzylaminopurine made plants more susceptible. Overexpression of TaOPR3, a gene involved in jasmonic acid biosynthesis, enhanced plant resistance as well as root and shoot growth during infection.

OBJECTIVE:To reach consensus on the diagnostic criteria for Yin deficiency syndrome in hypertension(YDSH)patients by a modified Delphi ***:Our study was consistent with T/CACM *** methodology of RAND/UCLA appropriateness was used to develop consensus guidance statements.A nationwide panel of experienced clinical experts from 19 provinces was *** experts were all prominent in Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)of cardiovascular *** consensus process consisted of two rounds of questionnaires and a final round of consultation to analyze the weight score of each ***,the data extraction process is carried out independently by third-party researchers(LIANG Junya,SUN Yang,and DU Xiaona).When there is disagreement in all three rounds,the expert panel group(odd number)are invited to vote,and the one with more votes *** the questionnaires,participants were asked to rate the appropriateness of each syndrome item using a nine-point Likert *** consensus was defined as a panel median rating 1-3 or 7-9 without *** then the diagnostic criteria of YDSH were formed according to the weight score in the final ***:Twenty-eight experts(84.8%)participated in the first round,and thirty-one(93.9%)finished the second *** two rounds,the consensus of YDSH was reached on 11 items(25.6%),including symptoms,signs,and pulse ***-one experts(63.6%)completed the final round in which they used a grading system for each *** tongue with scanty fur had the highest weighting(22.8%),followed by heat in the palms and soles(20.1%).CONCLUSIONS:The consensus-based diagnostic criteria for YDSH,formed by a modified Delphi method,can be widely incorporated in TCM.A further clinical study will be conducted to analyze the diagnosis value and cut-off score of our YDSH criteria.
