Effects of Co_(2)O_(3)Addition on Microstructure and Properties of SiC Composite Ceramics for Solar Absorber and Storage

SiC composite ceramics for solar absorber and storage integration are new concentrating solar power materials.SiC composite ceramics for solar absorber and storage integration were fabricated using SiC,black corundum and kaolin as the raw materials,Co_(2)O_(3)as the additive via pressureless graphite-buried sintering method in this study.Influences of Co_(2)O_(3)on the microstructure and properties of SiC composite ceramics for solar absorber and storage integration were studied.The results indicate that sample D2(5wt%Co_(2)O_(3))sintered at 1480℃exhibits optimal performances for 119.91 MPa bending strength,93%solar absorption,981.5 kJ/kg(25-800℃)thermal storage density.The weight gain ratio is 12.58 mg/cm2after 100 h oxidation at 1000℃.The Co_(2)O_(3)can decrease the liquid phase formation temperature and reduce the viscosity of liquid phase during sintering.The liquid with low viscosity not only promotes the elimination of pores to achieve densification,but also increases bending strength,solar absorption,thermal storage density and oxidation resistance.A dense SiO_(2) layer was formed on the surface of SiC after 100 h oxidation at 1000℃,which protects the sample from further oxidation.However,excessive Co_(2)O_(3)will make the microstructure loose,which is disadvantageous to the performances of samples.

Mullite thermal storage ceramics were prepared by low-cost calcined bauxite and kaolin.The phase composition,microstructure,high temperature resistance and thermophysical properties were characterized by modern testing techniques.The experimental results indicate that sample A3(bauxite/kaolin ratio of 5:5)sintered at 1620℃has the optimum comprehensive properties,with bulk density of 2.83 g·cm^(-3)and bending strength of 155.44 MPa.After 30 thermal shocks(1000℃-room temperature,air cooling),the bending strength of sample A3 increases to 166.15 MPa with an enhancement rate of 6.89%,the corresponding thermal conductivity and specific heat capacity are 3.54 W·(m·K)^(-1)and 1.39 kJ·(kg·K)^(-1)at 800℃,and the thermal storage density is 1096 kJ·kg^(-1)(25-800 mullite ceramics;sintering properties;high-temperature thermal storage;thermal shock resistance).Mullite forms a dense and continuous interlaced network microstructure,which endows the samples high thermal storage density and high bending strength,but the decrease of bauxite/kaolin ratio leads to the decrease of mullite content,which reduces the properties of the samples.

Filter membrane technology has been extensively used for water purification. However, due to their high brittleness and biological fouling, filter membranes will gradually deteriorate. Here we develop a robust Cu/TiOceramic filter membrane for water treatment, which has excellent inherent antibacterial activities both in the dark and under visible light irradiation. Onedimensional nanobelt TiOcan be sintered into a nanoporous membrane structure by overlapping and interweaving with each other, thereby achieving high flux simultaneously and solving the problem of high brittleness of inorganic ceramics. Meanwhile,such one-dimensional Ti Onanostructures can provide more deposition sites for Cu nanoparticles with inherent antibacterial activity in the dark. To realise the surface plasmon resonance-enhanced antibacterial activity under visible light, Cu/TiOheterostructures are used.

Based on the multidiscipline design optimization theory, a multidiscipline collaborative optimization model of the differential steering system of electric vehicle with motorized wheels is built, with the steering economy as the main system and the steering road feel, the steering flexibility and the mechanic character of the steering sensors as the subsystems. Considering the coupled relationship of each discipline, the main system is optimized by the multi-island algorithm and the subsystems are optimized by the sequential quadratic programming algorithm. The simulation results show that the steering economy can be optimized by the collaborative optimization, and that the system can get good steering road feel, good steering flexibility and good mechanic character of the steering sensors.

Al-driven genetic engineering,as a burgeoning diagnostic tool,can offer predictive information on the five-year survival rate(FYSR)in the setup of a prognostic therapeutic schedule.This approach provides the individuality and accuracy of prognosis for FYSR of gastric cancer(GC).Unlike traditional neoplasm staging criteria,our technique ensures accuracy and individuality without relying on statistical data and empirical study.

Cadmium sulphoselenide was synthesized continuous substitution solid solution and the only known pigment to yield bright red color on ceramic decoration. Encapsulated cadmium sulphoselenide pigments could yield abundant hues from yellow to red with high opacity at high temperature. The color generation has a linear function relation with the substitution rate. The encapsulation formation process of zirconium silicate encapsulated cadmium sulphoselenide was shown. Insuffi cient encapsulation effi ciency and potential hazard to human and environment had limited the industrial application of cadmium sulphoselenide red pigment. Ink-jet printing decoration required fi ne size cadmium sulphoselenide red pigment on ceramic decoration. The review mainly focused on the synthesis techniques and industrial application of cadmium sulphoselenide red pigment.

Effect of Gasoline Property on Formation of Intake Valve and Combustion Chamber Deposits

The cleanliness of gasoline is related to its components and properties.All commercial gasoline builds up deposits on the engine's injector,intake valve and combustion chamber,which can significantly lower the engine performance and influence exhaust gas emissions.In this study,the intake valve deposits (IVD) and combustion chamber deposits (CCD) produced from combustion of fuel containing 21 v%—42 v% of aromatics and 8 v%—31 v% of olefins have been studied using Ford engine tests,and the characteristics of deposits were studied by IR spectroscopy,TGA and elemental analysis instrument.The test results have shown that deposit formation depends on the fuel composition,especially the aromatic content in the fuel.It is also observed that there are differences in the values of IVD and CCD measured by IR spectrometry and elemental analyses.

In this review,we review the progress of research on ZnO-and In2O3-based diluted magnetic oxides(DMOs).Firstly,we present the preparation and characterization of DMOs.The former includes the preparation methods and conditions,and the latter includes the characterization techniques for measuring microstructures.Secondly,we introduce the magnetic and transport properties of DMOs,as well as the relationship between them.Thirdly,the origin and mechanism of the ferromagnetism are discussed.Fourthly,we introduce other related work,including computational work and pertinent heterogeneous structures,such as multilayers and magnetic tunnel junctions.Finally,we provide an overview and outlook for DMOs.

Synthesis of Refractory Cordierite from Calcined Bauxite, Talcum and Quartz

A cordierite was synthesized from calcined bauxite, talcum, and quartz. The properties and microstructure of the cordierite sintered samples were characterized by Archimedes＇ method, thermal dilatometry, X-ray diffraction （XRD）, scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, and so on. The experimental results showed that calcined bauxite could broaden the range of synthesizing temperature from 1300 ℃ to 1420 ℃ and get pure cordierite. The bulk density and linear thermal expansion coefficient of the sample synthesized at 1420 ℃ for 2 h were 1.97 g·cm^-3 and 2.1×10^-6 ℃^-1, respectively. The XRD analysis showed that the major crystalline phase was a-cordierite with almost no glassy matters, the SEM images illustrated a small vent hole and the size were 5 -100 μm, the well-grown hexagonal and granular cordierite grains had the sizes distributed among 0.1-8 ;xm, and providing high mechanical strength and lower linear thermal expansion coefficient.
