The prevalence of artificial lights not only improves the lighting conditions for modern society,but also poses kinds of health threats to human health.Although there are regulations and standards concerning light pollution,few of them are based on the potential contribution of improper lighting to diseases.Therefore,a better understanding of the health threats induced by light pollution may promote risk assessment and better regulation of artificial lights,thereby a healthy lighting environment.This review is based on a careful collection of the latest papers from 2018 to 2022 about the health threats of light pollution,both epidemiologically and experimentally.In addition to summing up the novel associations of light pollution with obesity,mental disorders,cancer,etc.,we highlight the toxicological mechanism of light pollution via circadian disruption,since light pollution directly interferes with the natural light-dark cycles,and damages the circadian photoentrainment of organisms.And by reviewing the alternations of clock genes and disturbance of melatonin homeostasis induced by artificial lights,we aim to excavate the profound impacts of light pollution based on accumulating studies,thus providing perspectives for future research and guiding relevant regulations and standards.

Food waste(FW)is a promising renewable low-cost biomass substrate for enhancing the economic feasibility of fermentative propionate production.Although lipids,a common component of food waste,can be used as a carbon source to enhance the production of volatile fatty acids(VFAs)during co-fermentation,few studies have evaluated the potential for directional propionate production from the co-fermentation of lipids and FW.In this study,co-fermentation experiments were conducted using different combinations of lipids and FW for VFA production.The contributions of lipids and FW to propionate production,hydrolysis of substrates,and microbial composition during.cofermentation were evaluated.The results revealed that lipids shifted the fermentation type of FW from butyric to propionic acid fermentation.Based on the estimated propionate production kinetic parameters,the maximum propionate productivity increased significantly with an increase in lipid content,reaching 6.23 g propionate/(L·d)at a lipid content of 50%.Propionate-producing bacteria Prevotella,Veillonella,and norank f Propionibacteriaceae were enriched in the presence of lipids,and the succinate pathway was identified as a prominent fermentation route for propionate production.Moreover,the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes functional annotation revealed that the expression of functional genes associated with amino acid metabolism was enhanced by the presence of lipids.Collectively,these findings will contribute to gaining a better understanding of targeted propionate production from FW.

The air-liquid interface(ALI)culture is a kind of recently developed system,which has proved its availability in simulating the biology of respiratory tract epithelial tissues.In this study,an ALI-based mouse primary olfactory epithelial cell(OEC)model was established to perform the exposure of PM_(2.5)(PM=particulate matter)collected from Dianshan Lake(Shanghai)and Wangdu(Hebei).The results showed that PM_(2.5)in both regions caused a decrease in cell viability in a dose-dependent manner.The 0.5 and 5µg/cm^(2)(around ambient concentrations)of PM_(2.5)disrupted OEC membrane integrity and produced oxidative stress with elevated indicators of malondialdehyde(MDA)and reactive oxygen species(ROS).In transcriptomic sequencing,the terms concerning inflammatory cytokines and second messenger cyclic adenosine-3′,5′-monophoshate(cAMP)were enriched in two treatments.The cytokine array showed the levels of some cytokines were altered,although inflammatory responses may not remarkably occur.Meanwhile,PM_(2.5)disturbed cAMP contents and key genes in the cAMP signaling pathway.The effects of PM_(2.5)of both regions were largely consistent,while Wangdu samples caused more ROS and Dianshan Lake samples tended to induce inflammatory injury.Thus,with the application of a novel ALI-based in vitro OEC model,our study demonstrated that ambient PM_(2.5)has the ability to threaten the physiologies and functions of the olfactory system.

To find a novel counter electrode(CE)material for quantum dot-sensitized solar cells(QDSSCs),pompon-like NiCo_(2)O_(4) nanospheres are synthesized by a facile solvothermal and post-calcination method and we attempt to apply it as a CE material for QDS SC.The catalytic performance of NiCo_(2)O_(4) counter electrode is investigated in detail through electrochemical impedance spectroscopy,Tafel test and cyclic voltammetry.The catalytic activity of NiCo_(2)O_(4) CE is superior to that of nanoflower-like Cu2S CE and traditional Cu2S/brass CE,which is mainly attributed to the large specific surface area,outstanding electrical conductivity of bimetallic oxides and the synergistic promotion effect of metals with different valence states.Under standard sunlight(air mass AM 1.5G 100 mW·cm^(-2)),the CdS/CdSe/ZnS-sensitized solar cell assembled with NiCo_(2)O_(4) CE achieved a photoelectric conversion efficiency of 5.55%,with a short current density of 22.49 mA·cm^(-2),an open circuit voltage of 0.574 V,and a fill factor of 0.43,which is slightly higher than the QDSSCs with nanoflower-like Cu_(2)S CE(4.75%)and traditional Cu_(2)S/brass CE(4.69%).This research provides ideas for discovering innovative and efficient CE materials for QDSSCs.

Fe-Mn based layer oxides cathode materials have attracted widespread attention as a potential candidate for sodium-ion batteries(SIBs)owing to the earth abundance,cost-effectiveness and acceptable specific capacity.However,the irreversible phase transition often brings rapid capacity decay,which seriously hinders the practical application in large-scale energy storage.Herein,we design a nickel-doped Na_(0.70)Fe_(0.10)Cu_(0.20)Ni_(0.05)Mn_(0.65)O_(2)(NFCNM-0.05)cathode material of SIBs with activated anionic redox reaction,and then inhibit the harmful phase transition.The ex-situ X-ray diffraction patterns demonstrate the NFCNM-0.05 always keeps the P2 phase during the sodiation/desodiation process,indicating a high structure stability.The ex-situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy implies the redox reactions between O2-and O-occur in the charging process,which offers extra specific capacity.Thus,the NFCNM-0.05 electrode delivers a high initial discharge capacity of 148 mA h g-1and remains a prominent cycling stability with an excellent capacity retention of 95.9%after 200 cycles at 1 C.In addition,the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and galvanostatic intermittent titration technique show the NFCNM-0.05 electrode possesses fast ion diffusion ability,which is beneficial for the enhancement of rate performance.Even at 10 C,the NFCNM-0.05 can offer a reversible discharge capacity of 81 mA h g-1.DFT calculation demonstrates the doping of appropriate amount of Ni ions is benefit for the enhancement of the electrochemical performance of the layer oxides.This work provides an effective strategy to enhance the electrochemical performance of Fe-Mn based cathode materials of SIBs.

Purpose:Antibiotic-loaded bone cement(ALBC)was usually used to prevent periprosthetic joint infection(PJI)in primary total knee arthroplasty(PTKA),but whether to use ALBC or plain bone cement in PTKA remains unclear.We aimed to compare the occurrence rate of PJI using two different cements,and to investigate the efficacy of different antibiotic types and doses administered in preventing surgical site infection(SSI)with ALBC.Methods:The availability of ALBC for preventing PJI was evaluated by using a systematic review and meta-analysis referring to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines.Existing articles until December 2021 involving PTKA patients with both ALBC and plain bone cement cohorts were scanned by searching"total knee arthroplasty","antibiotic-loaded cement","antibiotic prophylaxis","antibiotic-impregnated cement"and"antibiotic-laden cement"in the database of PubMed/MEDLINE,Embase,Web of Science and the Cochrane Library.Subgroup analysis included the effectiveness of different antibiotic types and doses in preventing SSI with ALBC.The modified Jadad scale was employed to score the qualities of included articles.Results:Eleven quantitative studies were enrolled,including 34,159 knees undergoing PTKA.The meta-analysis results demonstrated that the use of prophylactic ALBC could significantly reduce the prevalence of deep incisional SSI after PTKA,whereas there was no significant reduction in the rate of superficial incisional SSI.Moreover,gentamicin-loaded cement was effective in preventing deep incisional SSI,and the use of high-dose ALBC significantly reduced the rate of deep incisional SSI after PTKA.Besides,no significant adverse reactions and complications were stated during the use of ALBC in PTKA.Conclusion:The preventive application of ALBC during PTKA could reduce the rates of deep PJI.Furthermore,bone cement containing gentamicin and high-dose ALBC could even better prevent deep infection after PTKA.However,the existing related articles are mostly single

叶凋落物分解为森林生态系统提供了重要的能量和养分来源。除传统的环境因素外,叶凋落物的降解过程也受到绿叶功能性状和叶凋落物基质质量的影响。然而,在群落水平上,绿叶功能性状和叶凋落物基质质量对不同森林群落叶凋落物分解的相对重要性仍不清楚。因此,本研究以北京东灵山地区7种典型森林群落类型的混合叶凋落物为研究对象,利用分解袋法通过360天的野外相似环境分解实验对叶凋落物的分解过程进行了研究。这些森林群落包括6种分别以胡桃楸(Juglans mandshurica)、青杨(Populus cathayana)、棘皮桦(Betula dahurica)、白桦(Betula platyphylla)、油松(Pinus tabuliformis)和华北落叶松(Larix gmelinii var.principis-rupprechtii)为优势种的单优种群落,以及一种以大叶白蜡(Fraxinus rhynchophylla)、蒙古栎(Quercus mongolica)和蒙椴(Tilia mongolica)为优势种的共优种群落。研究结果表明,不同森林群落之间叶凋落物分解速率存在显著差异。群落聚合的植物功能性状和叶凋落物基质质量分别解释了群落叶凋落物分解速率变异的35.60%和9.05%,两者交互作用解释率为23.37%,表明群落聚合的植物功能性状及其与叶凋落物基质质量的共同作用是影响群落叶凋落物分解速率变异的主要因素。通过冗余分析发现,叶片氮含量、叶干物质含量、叶片单宁含量和比叶面积能显著影响群落叶凋落物分解速率的变异。因此,在对群落水平上叶凋落物分解的研究应该关注群落聚合的绿叶功能性状对分解的影响。

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the relationship between the cardiotonic activity of Fuzi(Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata,RALP)and its fingerprint determined by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry(LC-MS).METHODS:First,the fingerprints of six processed products of RALP were established by high performance liquid chromatography quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry(HPLC-Q-TOF-MS)followed by analysis of the principal component of the relative peak area of its common peaks.Next,the scores of the first five principal components were used as input for an artificial neural network(ANN).Additionally,the therapeutic effect of RALP was assessed by measuring the hemodynamic indexes of heart failure model rats.Subsequently,fluorescence semi-quantitative polymerase chain reaction and an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kit were used to determine the effects of RALP-processed products on the serum levels of noradrenaline(NA),angiotensin-Ⅰ(Ang-Ⅰ),and the expression ofβ-norepinephrine receptor m RNA(β-NRm)in the rat cardiac tissues.P<0.05 was used as the output of the ANN.Finally,a network was constructed to display the relationship between the LC-MS fingerprints and the cardiotonic activity of the RALP-processed products.RESULTS:Several types of RALPs can improve diastolic function,systolic function and heart rate.On the basis of the findings from the principal component analysis(PCA)of 16 common peaks of fingerprints of six RALP-processed products,it was revealed that the first five principal components may include 100%of the information of the original data.As observed from the multilayer perceptron neural network analysis,principal component 4 presented with the strongest effects on serum levels of NA and Ang-Ⅰin rats,while principal component1 exerted the greatest effect onβ-NRm expression in cardiac tissue.CONCLUSION:The key findings obtained from this study indicated that the network constructed by the PCA-ANN may predict pharmacodynamic effects of the main ingredients of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM).This metho

Production evolution patterns and development stage division of waterflooding oilfields

The continuous growth of recoverable reserves in a waterflooding oilfield has a significant impact on the patterns of production evolution. A new production evolution model is established by improving the Weng Cycle model. With the new model, the statistical correspondence between the production decline stage and the reserve-production imbalance is clarified,and the correlation of water cut with the recovery percent of recoverable reserves is discussed, providing quantitative basis of reservoir engineering for dividing development stages of oilfield and defining mature oilfields. According to the statistics of oilfields in eastern China, the time point corresponding to the reserve-production balance coefficient dropping to less than 1dramatically is well correlated the beginning point of production decline, thus the time when the reserve-production balance coefficient drops dramatically can be taken as the initiation point of production decline stage. The research results show that the water cut and the recovery percent of recoverable reserves have a good statistical match in the high water cut stage, and it is more rational to take both the start point of production decline stage and the water cut of 90%(or the recovery percent of recoverable reserves of 80%) as the critical criteria for defining a mature oilfield. Five production evolution patterns can be summarized as follows: growth–peak plateau–stepped decline, growth–stepped stabilizing–stepped decline, growth–stepped stabilizing–rapid decline, growth–peak plateau–rapid decline, and growth–continuous decline.
