This study reviews all genera and species belonging to the family Bougainvilliidae from the South China Sea. The Nubiella atentaculata xu and Huang, 2004 formerly included in the genus Nubiella, now is transferred to a new genus Paranubiella and included in the Bougainvilliidae as Paranubiella atentaculata （xu and Huang, 2004） n. comb.. Two new species, Paranubiella nanhaiensis xu, Huang and Guo, sp. nov. and Nubiella apapillaris xu, Huang and Guo, sp. nov. from the South China Sea are described and illustrated in the present paper. In addition, the key to known genera of family Bougainvilliidae and species of genus Nubiella are described. Other data are briefly summarized to the list of species presented on the family Bougainvilliidae in the South China Sea. The type species were deposited at the Third Institute of Oceanography, State Oceanic Administration.

This study describes and illustrates four new species Laticanna nanhaiensis xu, Huang and Wang, gen. nov. and sp. nov., Protiaropsis gemmifera xu, Huang and Du, sp. nov., Merga nanhaiensis xu, Huang and Guo, sp. nov. and Rhabdoon apiciloculus xu, Huang and Du, sp. nov. based on specimens from the south-central South China Sea. Additionally, keys to known genera of family Bythotiaridae and species of genera Protiaropsis, Merga, and Rhabdoon are described. All type specimens are deposited in the South China Sea Fisheries Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Fishery Science.

This study reviews all species belonging to the families Laodiceidae, Lovenellidae, Malagazziidae, and Mitrocomidae in the South China Sea. Two new species, Eucheilota carinata sp. nov. and Halopsis nanhaiensis sp. nov., are described and illustrated. One genus, Staurostorna, and two species, Staurostorna sp. and Octophialueiurn aphrodite （Bigelow, 1928）, are first recorded in China seas. The key to all medusa genera and species of Lovenellidae and Malagazziidae are presented. Other data are briefly summarized to the list and distribution of species presented on the family Laodiceidae, Lovenellidae, Malagazziidae and Mitrocomidae in the South China Sea. The type specimens are deposited in the Third Institute of Oceanography, State Oceanic Administration, China.

Medusae in 116 samples collected from the coastal waters of the northern Beibu Gulf during four seasonal oceanographic cruises from October 2017 to August 2018 were *** total,34 species were *** of the species are new to science,Proboscidactyla pentacanalis xu,Chen&Yang *** Helgicirrha apapillata xu,Chen&Wang ***.,and three species are newly recorded in the Beibu Gulf,i.e.,Hydractinia vacuolata xu&Huang,2006,Proboscidactyla flavicirrata Brandnt,1834 and Phialella macrogona xu,Huang&Wang,*** of the species were deposited at the Third Institute of Oceanography,Ministry of Natural Resources.

The study reviews all medusa genera and species belonging to the families Bougainvilliidae, Eucodoniidae, Proboscidactylidae, Corymorphidae and Sugiuridae from the northern South China Sea. A new genus xu, Guo & Wang, gen. nov. is erected under the family Sugiuridae, based on the monotype, Monocanna ovale(Mayer, 1900) comb. nov. from Gastroblasta. Four new species, Nubiella terminaliknoba xu, Guo & Wang sp. nov., Paranubiella shenzhenensis xu, Huang & Wang, sp. nov., Eucodonium crassonemalis xu, Guo & Lin, sp. nov. and Proboscidactyla trifurcata xu, Huang & Guo, sp. nov., are described and illustrated here. The species Euphysora knides Huang, 1999 stat. rev. is revised to be a valid species. The keys to known genera of families Corymorphidae, Sugiuridae and species of genera Paranubiella, Eucodonium, Proboscidactyla are provided. All type specimens are deposited in the College of Ocean and Earth Sciences, Xiamen University.

Fifty-seven stations （48 grid stations and nine stratified stations） were sampled across the study region （67.000°-88.394°N, 152.500°-178.643°W） during the 4th Chinese National Arctic Research Expedition （CHI- NARE 4） from July to August 2010 by the icebreaker R/Vxuelong. A total of 24 species of Hydromedusae were identified from 130 zooplankton samples, of which seven species belonged to Automedusa, eight species to Anthomedusae, four species to Leptomedudae, and three species to Siphonophora. Catablema multicir- ratum Kishinouye, 1910, Bougainvillia bitentaculata Uchida, 1925, and Euphysajaponica （Maas, 1909） were recorded for the first time in the Arctic sea. In the present paper, 18 species of Hydromedusae were described and illustrated, of which three species were described for the first time in the Arctic sea, and 15 species were described for the first time in China.

Samples of leptomedusan were collected from the Taiwan Strait during July 2006. Two new species, Gangliostoma abaxialispura xu, Huang & Guo, sp. nov. and Eutima taiwanensis xu, Huang & Guo, sp. nov., are described and illustrated. The keys to the species of Gangliostoma and Eutima are presented, respectively. The type specimens are deposited in the Third Institute of Oceanography, China.
