The tectonic nature of metamorphic terranes and their role in orogenesis are *** we present new U-Pb ages and geochemical data for widespread metamorphic rocks and associated granitoids from Northwest *** from the metamorphic complexes have crystallization ages of～457,～452,and～526 *** paragneiss(schist)has a maximum depositional age of 312±7 *** foliated granites were emplaced at～450,～349,and～410 Ma,and all lack inherited Precambrian *** metamorphic terranes may have undergone multiple petrotectonic events as revealed by the metamorphic *** the orthogneisses and granitoids show enrichment in large ion lithophile elements(LILEs)and light rare Earth elements(LREEs),and depletion in high field strength elements(HFSEs),which indicate that they formed in a subduction-generated accretionary arc *** study demonstrates that the metamorphic terranes in the Beishan area, originally considered as Precambrian basement with suspected Neoarchaean to Palaeoproterozoic ages,are actually parts of early Palaeozoic *** protoliths were probably metamorphosed arc plutonic and sedimentary *** with other studies,we speculate that the Beishan Orogen formed by progressive arc accretion during the latest Neoproterozoic to early Palaeozoic *** new interpretation has implications for other high-grade metamorphic terranes within orogens that have been assumed to represent ancient or pre-existing micro-continental *** so,the importance of collision as a mechanism of mountain building has been overestimated,and the accretionary process as a mechanism of continental growth has been underestimated.

The Central Asian Orogenic Belt(CAOB) was built by amalgamation of diverse geologic units including several microcontinents, ophiolites, island arcs, seamounts and accretionary wedges(xiao et al., 2015). Ophiolites represent allochthonous fragments of upper mantle and overlying oceanic crustal sections developed at divergent plate boundaries that was tectonically emplaced onto continents during orogenic events(Dilek and Furnes, 2011). They are generally exposed along suture zones, and play a key role in the identification of ancient oceanic lithosphere and paleo-plate suture in orogenic belts(Dilek and Furnes, 2011).

造山带演化及增生到碰撞的转变是板块构造与大陆动力学研究中的前沿科学问题。中亚造山带被认为是古亚洲洋长期俯冲-增生演化形成的显生宙最大的增生造山带,以发育巨量的面状展布的俯冲-增生相关的弧岩浆岩为特征。并且,由于中亚增生型造山带在潘吉亚最后聚合过程中发生弧弧(陆)碰撞,因此缺乏大规模且跨构造单元的碰撞相关的构造和变质等物质标志。显然,能否识别出大洋闭合期间碰撞作用的岩浆标志成为确定增生造山带增生过程终止的关键之一。本文系统研究确定:中亚造山带东南缘二叠纪到三叠纪钙碱性-碱钙性岩浆在空间分布上显示出由北西向南东迁移演化的特征;在岩浆性质上具有从二叠纪新生地壳来源的弧岩浆向早-中三叠世碰撞挤压背景下古老陆壳组分逐渐增多的高Sr/Y岩浆以及晚三叠世后造山伸展相关的A型花岗岩演化的特征。这些特征提供了俯冲-增生向碰撞造山演变的关键岩浆岩证据。结合区域资料,厘定出增生造山带最后碰撞相关的标志性岩浆为沿缝合带呈零星线性展布的增厚下地壳源区的高Sr/Y花岗岩类,构建了中亚造山带南缘从双向俯冲-增生到增生楔-增生楔碰撞及后造山伸展的三阶段构造-岩浆演化模型。系统对比研究,揭示出增生-碰撞相关的岩浆记录沿横向展布在中亚造山带南缘甘肃北山到吉林中部一带,表明碰撞挤压相关的岩浆作用在中亚造山带南缘具有一定的普适性。中亚造山带南缘从增生到碰撞的岩浆演化记录的厘定,证实显生宙最大的巨型增生造山带演化末期经历了碰撞造山作用,对进一步深入探索增生造山演化末期碰撞相关的标志性岩浆具有重要意义。

In the ChineseAItai,on the northern side of the Erqis fault,the-10-m-wide Qiemuerqieke gabbro is composed almost entirely of hornblende and *** relative crystallization sequence is olivine,hornblende,plagioclase,and it shows a narrow compositional range in SiO (48.7-50.2 wt%),MgO(6.33-8.54 wt%),FeO(5.27-6.46 wt%),NaO(3.06-3.71 wt%),and KO(0.26-0.37 wt%).These contents result in a high Mg# value(68-72)and a low KO/NaO ratio of～*** has(Sr/Sr) ratios of 0.70339-0.70350,ε(t)values of 4.8-6.0,and zirconε(t) of 11.4-15.8;these values demonstrate a mantle-derived source,and a whole-rockδO of～6.7‰suggests a mantle wedge *** presence of magmatic hornblende suggests a relatively high water fugacity,and the crystallization temperature(715-826℃)calculated using Ti-in-zircon thermometry is considerably lower than that of a normal mafic melt but consistent with an origin from a water-bearing magma. The gabbro has a secondary ion mass spectrometry zircon U-Pb age of 276.0±2.1 Ma,which is coeval with the 275 Ma mantle plume in the northernTarim craton,but the Qiemuerqieke petrological and geochemical data do not indicate an abnormally high mantle temperature or a deep mantle signature,which would commonly characterize a mantle plume *** results integrated with published data support a model of juvenile crustal growth by a subduction-related process.

The origin and tectonic settings of metasedimentary sequences in the Central Asian Orogenic Belt have been a matter of debate regarding their contributions with some proposals of being microcontinents or accreted material, largely due to a lack of high resolution geochronological *** paper reports detrital zircon U-Pb age and Hf isotopic data for the previously mapped Precambrian metasedimentary rocks from the Beishan orogenic collage,southern *** data show that Precambrian ages dominate all the analyzed samples, hut two samples yield Paleozoic zircons which suggest that they were not deposited in the *** late Paleoproterozoic-early Mesoproterozoic group(-2000-1300 Ma)is the largest age population among the six samples *** age population(-2000-1300 Ma)corresponds to the assembly and subsequent break-up of the Columbia *** one sample(IlSYS01)yields Neoproterozoic ages (with two peaks at 930 and 785 Ma),which shows a possible affinity with the Tarim ***,the age spectra presented here are generally different from that of the Tarim Craton and the metasedimentary rocks from the Central *** data show that the Tarim Craton is not the main source area for the metasedimentary rocks from the Beishan orogenic collage,but instead multiple source areas may have contributed to the Beishan *** our new results with published data,we favor an allochthonous origin for the metasedimentary sequences which may be associated with major thrust ***, a long-lived arc accretionary model is proposed for the tectonic evolution of the Beishan orogenic collage.

To better understand the tectonic evolution of West Junggar in the western Altaids, we have conducted a combined paleomagnetic and geochronological study on Late Devonian(D), Late Carboniferous(C) and Early Permian(P) successions from the Tacheng Basin, northwest of China. Both primary and secondary characteristic remanent magnetization components have been successfully isolated and yield three reliable paleomagnetic poles of C and Late Permian(P) ages. The C and P poles reveal a significant clockwise rotation of 35.6°± 10.4° which is comparable to the rotation deduced in the western part of the Chingiz Range during the time interval C to P. Similar rotation patterns for the two units suggest that the Chingiz–West Junggar has remained as a quasi-rigid block by the P time and constituted the northeast limb of the Kazakhstan *** differential rotation of ca. 25° to 30° deduced between the northeast and middle limbs of the Kazakhstan Orocline further suggests that at least a part of the curvature of the Balkhash Arc was acquired during the C to P interval and was a continuation of the middle Paleozoic oroclinal bending. Moreover, the C poles for West Junggar and the Junggar Block are significantly different while the P ones almost overlap supporting the view that final closure of the Balkhash–Junggar Ocean occurred during the C to P interval. On the other hand, a large-scale counterclockwise rotation of ca. 80° to 90° is observed in West Junggar and Junggar relative to the western part of the Chingiz Range since the P time, and this rotation probably represents an important intracontinental deformation within the western part of the Altaids. A reconstruction of the Paleo-Asian Ocean has been proposed in which the Kazakhstan Orocline was emphasized by using the paleomagnetic results and geological evidence.

Porphyry Cu deposits occurred in the southern West Junggar of Xinjiang,NW China and are represented by the Baogutu and newly-discovered Jiamantieliek porphyry Cu *** and geochemical studies show that both Jiamantieliek and Baogutu ore-bearing intrusions comprise main-stage diorite stock and minor late-stage diorite porphyry dikes and are the talc-alkaline intermediate *** on U-Pb zircon SHRIMP analyses,the Jiamantieliek intrusion formed in 313±4 Ma and 310±5 Ma,while, based on U-Pb zircon SIMS analyses,the Baogutu intrusion formed in 313±2 Ma and 312±2 Ma,Rocks in the Jiamantieliek intrusion are enriched in light rare earth elements(LREE)and large ion lithophile elements (LILE)with negative Nb *** isotopic compositions(ε(t)=+1.6 to+3.4 (Sr/Sr)=0.70369-0.70401,(Pb/Pb)=15.31-5.41)suggest a mixing origin from depleted to enriched mantle sources,In the Baogutu intrusion,the rocks are similar to those of the Jiamantieliek *** Sr-Nd-Pb isotopic composition(ε(t)=+4.4 to+6.0,(Sr/Sr)=0.70368-0.70385, (Pb/Pb)=15,34-5.42)shows a more depleted mantle *** features suggest generation in an island *** Jiamantieliek and Baogutu intrusions have similar characteristics,indicating that a relatively uniform and integrated source region has existed in the southern West Junggar since the Pal- aeozoic.A larger contribution of talc-alkaline magma would be required to generate the Jiamantieliek intrusion,which may reflect the development of magma arc maturation towards the western section of the southern West Junggar.
