We previously demonstrated that 2-hydroxypropyltrimethyl ammonium chloride chitosan(HACC)promoted the production of nitric oxide(NO)and proinflammatory cytokines by activating the mitogen-activated protein kinases(MAPK)and Janus kinase(JAK)/STAT pathways in RAW 264.7 cells,indicating good immunomodulatory activity of *** this study,to further investigate the immunomodulatory mechanisms of HACC,we determined the roles of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3K)/Akt,activating protein(AP-1)and nuclear factor kappa B(NF-κB)in HACC-induced activation of RAW 264.7 cells by the western *** results suggest that HACC promoted the phosphorylation of p85 and ***,c-Jun and p65 were also increased after the treatment of RAW 264.7 cells with HACC,indicating the translocation of NF-κB and AP-1 from cytoplasm to *** addition,as scanning electron microscopy(SeM)analysis shows,the cell morphology changed after HACC *** findings indicate that HACC activated MAPK,JAK/STAT,and PI3K/Akt signaling pathways dependent on AP-1 and NF-κB activation in RAW 264.7 cells,ultimately leading to the increase of NO and cytokines.

Phytopathogenic fungi cause heavy negative impact on the agricultural economy,but most existing fungicides are toxic and pose a threat to both human health and environments.A green and efficient fungicide is urgently ***(COSs),the degradation products of natural polysaccharide chitosan,are nontoxic and biodegradable antifungal *** this study,a novel type of aminourea chitooligosaccharide derivatives(AUCOS)was synthesized by successively grafting a hydrazine group and an amine-carbonyl group onto a chitooligosaccharide backbone to enhance the antifungal capability of *** structures of the target compounds were identified by FTIR,1H NMR,and 13C NMR,and the degree of substitution of each product was calculated from the results of the elemental *** antifungal activities of the prepared chitooligosaccharide derivatives against Fusarium solani,Verticillium albo-atrum and Phytophthora capsici were tested in *** AUCOSs had better inhibitory efficiencies against the three plant pathogen fungi than that of chitooligosaccharide,of which aminourea chitooligosaccharide 2(AUCOS2)was the most promising antifungal compound,whose highest inhibition rates were 60.12%,82.95%,and 85.23%against ***,***-atrum and ***,*** synthesized derivatives have good application prospects in crop protection and deserve further research.

Nano-enabled silicone-rubber articles for feeding or chewing could be a source of metallic nanoparticles(NPs)directly exposed to infants and young ***,the impact of steam disinfection on release of NPs and the related potential risks to children's health are ***,we investigated contents and form of Ag and Zn in 57 nano-enabled silicone-rubber baby bottle teats,pacifiers,and teethers of seven countries and examined the impacts of steam disinfection on in vitro bioaccessibility(IVBA)of Ag and Zn in the *** 89%articles had a mixture of Ag-and Zn-containing NPs and the teethers had relatively high Ag and Zn contents(up to 501 and 254μg/g,respectively).Steam disinfection caused rubber decomposition into micro(nano)plastics(0.54-15.7μm)and NP release from the interior of bulk rubber and micro-sized plastics,thus enhancing the IVBA of Ag and Zn by up to 5.5 *** findings provide insights into mechanisms for NP release by steam *** oral exposure risk assessment suggested low health concerns on individual metal release,our study points out the need to assess the potential health risks of child co-exposure to metallic NPs and micro(nano)plastics.

Currently, deep drilling operates under extreme conditions of high temperature and high pressure,demanding more from subterranean power motors. The all-metal positive displacement motor, known for its robust performance, is a critical choice for such drilling. The dimensions of the PDM are crucial for its performance output. To enhance this, optimization of the motor's profile using a genetic algorithm has been undertaken. The design process begins with the computation of the initial stator and rotor curves based on the equations for a screw cycloid. These curves are then refined using the least squares method for a precise fit. Following this, the PDM's mathematical model is optimized, and motor friction is assessed. The genetic algorithm process involves encoding variations and managing crossovers to optimize objective functions, including the isometric radius coefficient, eccentricity distance parameter,overflow area, and maximum slip speed. This optimization yields the ideal profile parameters that enhance the motor's output. Comparative analyses of the initial and optimized output characteristics were conducted, focusing on the effects of the isometric radius coefficient and overflow area on the motor's performance. Results indicate that the optimized motor's overflow area increased by 6.9%, while its rotational speed reduced by 6.58%. The torque, as tested by Infocus, saw substantial improvements of38.8%. This optimization provides a theoretical foundation for improving the output characteristics of allmetal PDMs and supports the ongoing development and research of PDM technology.

In vitro prebiotic effects of seaweed polysaccharides

Although prebiotic activities of alginate and agar oligosaccharides isolated from seaweeds have been reported, it remains unknown whether seaweed polysaccharides have prebiotic activity. In this study, we isolated polysaccharides from four species of seaweeds, such as Grateloupia fi licina(GFP), eucheuma spinosum(eSP), Ulva pertusa(UPP), and A scophyllum nodosum(ANP), and characterized their structures and prebiotic ef fects in vitro. The results showed that these polysaccharides were dif ferent in total sugar and sulfate contents as well as monosaccharide composition. GFP and eSP significantly promoted bifi dobacterium proliferation and 0.1% eSP and 0.4% GFP resulted in the highest proliferation rates of beneficial bacteria, whereas UPP and ANP inhibited the growth of beneficial bacteria at all tested concentrations(0.1%–0.5%). The different behaviors of the four seaweed-originated polysaccharides might be refl ected by differences in monosaccharide composition and structure. Therefore, polysaccharides isolated from GFP and eSP could be utilized as prebiotics. However, more studies must be carried out in vivo.

This study utilized a longitudinal design to examine the relationships between the specific components of executive function(eF)and the internalizing and externalizing behavior across different genders and contexts in Chinese cultural ***,cognitive flexibility,and working memory of eF based on 101 preschool children’s(48 boys and 53 girls)(M_(T1)=4.25,SD=0.76)performances were measured when completing tasks in NIH *** months later,boys’and girls’internalizing and externalizing behavior in home-and school-settings was assessed through mother’s feedback on the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire and teachers’reports of the Child Behavior Rating *** results show that boys’inhibition,cognitive flexibility,and working memory negatively predict their externalizing behavior in the home context,while their cognitive flexibility negatively predicts externalizing behavior in the school ***,boys’inhibition positively predicts their internalizing behavior only in the school *** girls,their cognitive flexibility positively predicts externalizing behavior only in the school *** significant relationship is found among the girls between eF and problem behavior in the home *** findings suggest that gender differences and a shift in contexts could alternate the relationship between eF and children’s problem *** study sheds light on targeted preventions and interventions based on contexts and gender.

BACKGROUND The impact of frailty on postoperative outcomes in patients undergoing hepatectomy is still *** To study the influence of frailty on postoperative outcomes,such as mortality,rate of complications,and length of hospitalization,following *** PubMed,eMBASe,and Scopus databases were searched for observational studies with adult(≥18 years)patients after planned/elective hepatectomy.A randomeffects model was used for all analyses,and the results are expressed as weighted mean difference(WMD),relative risk(RR),or hazards ratio(HR)with 95%confidence interval(CI).ReSULTS Analysis of the 13 included studies showed a significant association of frailty with elevated risk of in-hospital mortality(RR=2.76,95%CI:2.10-3.64),mortality at 30 d(RR=4.60,95%CI:1.85-11.40),and mortality at 90 d(RR=2.52,95%CI:1.70-3.75)in the postoperative *** patients had a poorer long-term survival(HR=2.89,95%CI:1.84-4.53)and higher incidence of“any”complications(RR=1.69,95%CI:1.40-2.03)and major(grade III or higher on the Clavien-Dindo scale)complications(RR=2.69,95%CI:1.85-3.92).Frailty was correlated with markedly lengthier hospital stay(WMD=3.65,95%CI:1.45-5.85).CONCLUSION Frailty correlates with elevated risks of mortality,complications,and prolonged hospitalization,which need to be considered in surgical *** research is essential to formulate strategies for improved outcomes in this vulnerable cohort.

The development of host-guest MOF luminescent composites has attracted considerable attention. However,it is still a challenge to reasonably design large scale conjugated polycarboxylic acids metal-organic framework (MOF) and modulate donor-acceptor interaction. Herein,a series of isostructural 3D porous lanthanide MOF [Ln_(2)(BINDI)0.5(NO_(3))(DMA)(H_(2)O)]∙DMA∙2.5H_(2)O (Ln = La (1),Ce (2),Pr (3) and Nd (4);H_(4)BINDI (N,N’-bis(5-isophthalic acid)-1,4,5,8-naphthalenediimide) were synthesized. Considering the electron-deficient performances of Ln-BINDI MOFs,D-A type composites Ln-MOFs (1—4@H_(4)TBAPy) were prepared via the incorporation of electron-rich H_(4)TBAPy (1,3,6,8-tetrakis(p-benzoic acid) pyrene),which more improved the luminescence performance of complexes 1—4 and can be used as fluorescence sensors for the detection of nitro compounds and aldehydes. High sensitivity of 1@H_(4)TBAPy towards pNBA,pNA PNP,DNP,and TNP could be achieved through hydrogen bond interactions between MOF and analytes,as well as the π-π interaction between H_(4)TBAPy and the naphthalene ring of BINDI,thus the fluorescence quenching efficiency of 1@H_(4)TBAPy was better than that of the complex 1. In addition,it is found that 1@H_(4)TBAPy has high selectivity and sensitivity to aromatic aldehyde SA,5-Mesal and HMBA. Such strategy to enhance the emission of NDI based Ln-BINDI MOFs,will open up an avenue to obtain more fluorescent MOFs for sensing.
