The concept of the glial-vascular unit(GVU)was raised recently to emphasize the close associations between brain cells and cerebral vessels,and their coordinated reactions to diverse neurological insults from a“glio-centric”*** is a multicellular structure composed of glial cells,perivascular cells,and perivascular *** component is closely linked,collectively forming the *** central roles of glial and perivascular cells and their multi-level interconnections in the GVU under normal conditions and in central nervous system(CNS)disorders have not been elucidated in ***,we comprehensively review the intensive interactions between glial cells and perivascular cells in the niche of perivascular space,which take part in the modulation of cerebral blood flow and angiogenesis,formation of the blood-brain barrier,and clearance of neurotoxic ***,we discuss dysfunctions of the GVU in various neurological diseases,including ischemic stroke,spinal cord injury,Alzheimer’s disease,and major depression *** addition,we highlight the possible therapies targeting the GVU,which may have potential clinical applications.

Water table over an arid region can be elevated to a critical level to sustain terrestrial ecosystem along the natural channel by the stream water conveyance. Estimation of water table depth and soil moisture on river channel profile may be reduced to a two-dimensional moving boundary problem with soil water-groundwater interaction. The two-dimensional soil water flow with stream water transferred is divided into an unsaturated vertical soil water flow and a horizontal groundwater flow. Therefore, a prediction model scheme for water table depths under the interaction between soil water and groundwater with stream water transferred is presented, which includes a vertical soil water movement model, a horizontal groundwater movement model, and an interface model. The synthetic experiments are conducted to test the sensitivities of the river elevation, horizontal conductivity, and surface flux, and the results from the experiments show the robustness of the proposed scheme under different conditions. The groundwater horizontal conductivity of the proposed scheme is also calibrated by SCE-UA method and validated by data collected at the Yingsu section in the lower reaches of the Tarim River, which shows that the model can reasonably simulate the water table depths.

BACKGROUND Intravascular fasciitis(IVF)is a rare nodular fasciitis that often involves the layers and lumens of blood vessels;therefore,it is easily misdiagnosed as a malignant tumor with invasion into blood *** SUMMARY A 13-year-old boy was admitted due to a mass on the left side of his *** ultrasonography revealed a circular solid hypoechoic mass in the external jugular vein,and magnetic resonance imaging revealed an enhanced longitudinal masslike lesion in the left supraclavicular *** treatment was arranged and completed,histopathological analysis showed a large amount of spindle cell proliferation,and immunohistochemistry showed that the spindle cells were positive for the expression of vimentin,caldesmon,and smooth muscle actin and negative for the expression of S-100 protein,desmin,CD34,and c-kit;Ki-67 staining revealed a low proliferative index(5%-10%),which confirmed the differentiation characteristics of *** in situ hybridization detected the rearrangement of *** was subsequently *** IVF is characterized by intraluminal,intramural and extramural involvement of small to large arteries or *** the doctor has a deep understanding of the disease or suspects that there is an initial indicator,IVF may be confused with other intravascular malignancies,leading to unnecessary radical *** examination combined with histopathological examination can improve the diagnostic accuracy of this disease.

Ecotoxicity assessment of soil irrigated with domestic wastewater using different extractions

The toxicity of soil irrigated with treated domestic wastewater （site A） and untreated gray wastewater （site B） were investigated. Soil extracts were prepared using distilled water, acid solvent （0.1 mol·L-1 HCl）, and organic solvent （acetone：petroleum ether：cyclohexane= 1：1：1） to understand the type of pollutants responsible for the ecotoxicity associated with wastewater irrigation. The soil toxicity was assessed using a luminescence inhibition assay with Vibrio fischeri for acute toxicity, a micronucleus assay with Vicia faba root tips and a single cell gel electrophoresis assay of mice lymphocytes for genotoxicity. The physicochemical properties and the heavy metal （HM） contents of the irrigated soil were also analyzed. The results indicated that the wastewater irrigation at site A had no effects on the soil properties. With the exception of Pb, Zn, Fe, and Mn, the accumulation of HMs （Cu, Ni, and Cr） occurred. However, the irrigation at site A did not result in obvious acute toxicity or genotoxicity in the soil. The soil properties changed greatly, and HMs （Cu, Ni, and Cr） accumulated in site B. There were significant increases in the acute toxic and genotoxic effects in the soils from site B. The ecotoxicity in site B came primarily from organic-extractable pollutants.

Effect of Salinity on the Survival, Ions and Urea Modulation in Red-eared Slider(Trachemys scripta elegans)

To understand the tolerance to salinity and osmoregulation of the introduced Trachemys scripta elegans, the salinity stress of four groups （salinity 5‰, 15‰, 25‰ and control group） were conducted. Inorganic ions, osmotic pressure, glucose and aldosterone of blood and urine in T. s. elegans （BW： 125.60 ±19.84 g） were analyzed at 30 d, 60 d and 90 d stress. The results showed that： 1） inorganic ions concentration of blood and urine increased with ambient salinity, which indicated that high influx of ions was combined with higher outflow when exposed to saline water in T. s. elegans. However, blood aldosterone decreased with increasing salinity, which indicated that an increased sodium intake resulting in a diminished aldosterone production. However, with elapsed time, inorganic ions in urine decreased, which indicated that inorganic ions in blood would be accumulated, and Na^＋ and Cl^- in the plasma inevitably build up to harmful levels, at last death was happening when T. s. elegans was exposed to salinity 25 during 90 d salinity stress; 2） blood osmotic pressure increased as ambient salinity increased, it would reach 400 mOsm/kg in the group of salinity 25, which was about 1.5 fold of the control group. Higher blood osmotic pressure was due to both higher blood ions and urea concentrations. There may be another mechanism to avoid an excess of NaCl together with an important loss of water using one of the end-products of nitrogen metabolism; 3） blood glucose in each group except the group of salinity 5 decreased with time elapsed and with salinity increased. Therefore, we can conclude that T. s. elegans is an osmoregulator that limits the entry of Na^＋ and Cl^-, but can also tolerate certain degrees of increases in plasma Na^＋ and Cl^-. When ambient salinity was lower than 15‰, T. s. elegans can increase blood osmotic pressure by balancing the entry of NaCl with the secretion of aldosterone decreased, and by accumulating blood urea for osmoregulation effectors, and s

Characterization of ＇Pinky＇ Strain Grown in Culture of Rhodobacter sphaeroides R26.1

In the process of cultivating Rhodobater sphaeroides R26.1, some of which turned from blue to pink due to the irradiation of a beam of leaking white light. The mutant strains were named ＇pinky＇ strains, which were cultivated in the red light and in the dark for a comparative study. It turned out that the strains did not grow in the dark, so they might be photosynthetic bacteria. The electronic absorption spectrum of the ＇pinky＇ strains was measured, which shows they contained two main photosynthetic pigments, carotenoids（Cars） and bacteriochlorophylls（BChls）. And then they were extracted and analyzed. It proves that Bchls included Bchl a and Bchl a＇. Nuclear magnetic resonance （NMR） spectra were exploited to determine the chemical structure of Cars. The results indicate that there were seven kinds of Cars, including lycopene, rhodopin, anhydrorhodovibrin, 3,4-dihydroanhydrorhodovibrin, 3,3,4- dihydrospirilloxanthin, 3,4,3＇,4＇-tetrahydrospirilloxanthin and spirilloxanthin. Based on the above results, it was found that most identified Cars formed via spirilloxanthin biosynthesis pathway. The analyzed results of 16S rRNA gene show that the homology of ＇pinky＇ strains with Rhodopseudomonas palusteris was 99%. Rhodopseudomonas palusteris has been cultivated in our laboratory. Because of its strong vitality, it did not become extinct with so many years passing. When Rhodobater sphaeroides R26.1 was cultivated, it got rejuvenated under the appropriate conditions and caused Rhodobater sphaeroides R26.1 to be contaminated.

Land change is a cause and consequence of global environmental *** use and land cover have changed considerably due to increasing human activities and climate change,which has become the core issue of major international research *** study interprets land use and land cover status and the changes within the Koshi River Basin(KRB)using Landsat remote sensing(RS)image data,and employs logistic regression model to analyze the influence of natural and socioeconomic driving forces on major land cover *** results showed that the areas of built-up land,bare land and forest in KRB increased from 1990 to 2015,including the largest increases in forest and the highest growth rate in construction *** of glacier,grassland,sparse vegetation,shrub land,cropland,and wetland all decreased over the study *** the perspective of driving analysis,the role of human activities in land use and land cover change is significant than climate *** expansion is the reclamation of cropland by farmers,mainly from early ***,labor force separation,geological disasters and drought are the main factors of cropland *** increase of forest area in India and Nepal was attributed to the government’s forest protection policies,such as Nepal’s community forestry has achieved remarkable *** expansion and contraction of grassland were both dominated by climatic *** probability of grassland expansion increases with temperature and precipitation,while the probability of grassland contraction decreases with temperature and precipitation.

One-dimensional carbon nanofibers are widely applied as anode material in the energy storage field due to its unique structure and high conductivity. In this work, one-dimensional ZnSe@N-doped carbon nanofibers(ZnSe@NC NFs) are successfully synthesized by electrospinning and annealed without extra troublesome conditions. ZnSe nanocrystals are enfolded in the N-doped carbon nanofibers, which can act as a protective layer to avoid the volume expansion of active material and promote ion transport during the cycling process. More importantly, the as-synthesized ZnSe@NC NFs are served as the anode material and display the admirable storage properties for Na/K-ion batteries. The one-dimensional Zn Se@NC NFs material shows the high capacity of 237 mAh/g for Na-ion batteries at a current density of 1 A/g for 2000cycles. Meanwhile, it also delivers a high discharge capacity of 337 mAh/g for K-ion batteries at 0.2 A/g for 300 cycles. Additionally, it is confirmed that the pseudocapacitive contribution of the nano-structure material is up to 54.5% at a scan rate of 0.6 m V/s through the cyclic voltammetry(CV) measurement in K-ion batteries.
