Pollen analysis was conducted on the fluviolacustrine sediments from the east side of the Liupan Mountains, a relatively monsoon-sensitive region,and provided for the first time a continuous evolutionary history of vegetation and climate in East china during the *** pollen record spanning the last 2. Ma indicates that the vegetation and thus East-Asian summer monsoon evolution can be divided into three stages:2..13- 14.2. Ma,14.2.-11.35 Ma and 11.35-0.08 Ma,in spite of general dominance of steppe throughout the *** the period 2..13-14.2. Ma,the pollen assemblage was characterized by high abundance of Artemisia and small amounts of temperate to subtropical deciduous broad-leafed trees such as Juglans,Carya, Quercus and Betula,suggesting that the East-Asian summer monsoon was generally *** interval from 14.2. to 11.35 Ma was marked by a significant decline in the East-Asian summer monsoon,as indicated by Artemisia gradually replaced by Humulus and halophytic *** and Ephedra also reached high values in this *** 11.35 Ma ago,percentages of halophytes dominated by Chenopodiaceae and Tamaricaceae maintained a high mean value of about 40%,revealing a weak intensity of East-Asian summer *** general weakening of the monsoon circulation during the Neogene and the significant monsoon decline during the late Middle Miocene in particular might link with the global cooling trend probably through two *** and ice-sheet expansion over the polar region caused an increase in meridional temperature gradients leading to the southward retreat of the monsoon *** global cooling may have also reduced the amount of water vapor held in the atmosphere,and led to both additional cooling and further weakening of the East-Asian summer *** cause for a short-lived resumption during the period 1.0-0.8 Ma is under investigation.

The thick,widely distributed lacustrine sediments in northern china may have recorded abundant information on the Asian monsoon evolution during the Late ***,reconstruction of such a history with these materials has been hampered by the paucity of reliable chronological *** this study,systematic paleomagnetic measurements were conducted on a well-exposed, 2.80-m thick fluviolacustrine sequence on the east side of the Liupan Mountains,a relatively monsoon-sensitive region. Correlation of the resultant magnetic polarity column to the Geomagnetic Polarity Timescale(GPTS) suggests that this sequence spans a time interval of 2..13-0.07 Ma and is generally *** reliability of this correlation was further supported by three lines of independent evidence:*** fossils,pollen assemblages and color changes of the *** of redness of the sedimentary succession suggest a remarkable decrease in air temperature over northern china,which may be closely associated with the global Mid-Miocene cooling caused by the extension of the Antarctic ice *** event may have had an important influence on the evolution of the Asian monsoon circulation.

The physics involved in the abrupt climate changes of the late Quaternary have eluded paleoclimatologists for many *** paleoclimatic records characteristic of different elements of the global climate system are needed for better understanding of the cause-feedback relationships in the *** East Asian monsoon is an important part of the global climate system and the mechanical linds between the East Asian monsoon and other climatic elements around the world may hold a key to our knowledge of abrupt climate changes in East Asia and probably over a larger part of the *** studies have detected millennial-scale winter monsoon oscillations during the last glaciation and probably also during the last interglaciation in loess sequences across china. However,less attention has been paid to the abrupt summer monsoon changes and the stage 5a/4 transition,an important period for the evolution of the East Asian monsoon when the global climate shifted torards the last *** we report on two loess sections from eastern china which were dated using a thermoluminescence(TL) *** pedogenic and other sediment parameters suggest that the summer monsoon experienced a two-step abrupt retreat at the stage 5a/4 *** variations in the proxies for the winter monsoon are synchronized with the summer monsoon proxies during this brief *** a direct and immediate lin between high latitude and low latitude *** changes may be correlated with similar climatic oscillations observed in the North Atlantic,Europe and Antarcica,raising the possibility that the forcing factors that induced these changes are global in extent.

＜正＞The Spatial Database of the Digital Geological Map of china at 1:1 M（V1.0）is made up of 64（whole and partial）map sheets,Each map sheet is represented by the rectangle of 6°longitude and 4°latitude,according to the international map standard at 1:1M,It mainly includes geological map database,geographical map database,metadata database et al,The geological map database is constructed on the basis of the 1:500 000 geological map database（1999）,and it absorbs the latest information and outcomes of 1:2.0 000,1:50000 geological mapping and special subject study,It contains strata,igneous rock,fault,special geological unit（eclogite, blueschist,ophiolite et al.）,isotope age determination and drill hole et al,According to the feature and requirement of the geological map database,the geographical map database was constructed on the basis of 1:1 M topographical map database（ArcInfo） which provided by National Geomatics Center of china,It contains boundaries,river system,inhabitant areas,transportation et al,The Spatial Database of Digital Geological Map of china at 1:1M was built with MapGIS,ArcGIS and Access,The quantity of data is as large as 2.0GB,The spatial database management system possesses functions of map retrieval andquery,automatic map making and automatic legend drawing,The database system will serve on the network in the future,which should be updated and maintained regularly.

Flag leaf angle is one of the key target traits in high yield wheat breeding.A smaller flag leaf angle reduces shading and enables plants to grow at a higher density,which increases *** we identified a mutant,je0407,with an 84.34%-89.35%smaller flag leaf angle compared with the wild *** mutant also had an abnormal lamina joint and no ligule or *** analysis indicated that the ligule was controlled by two recessive genes,which were mapped to chromosomes 2.S and *** mutant allele on chromosome 2.S was named Tafla1b,and it was fine mapped to a 1 Mb physical *** mutant allele on chr.2.L was identified as Taspl8b,a novel allele of TaSPL8 with a missense mutation in the second exon,which was used to develop a cleaved amplified polymorphic sequence marker.F3 and F4 lines derived from crosses between {2.411 and je0407 were genotyped to investigate interactions between the Tafla1b and Taspl8b *** with the Tafla1b/Taspl8a genotype had 58.41%-82.76%smaller flag leaf angles,6.4%-2..9%shorter spikes,and a greater spikelet density(0.382.more spikelets per cm)compared with the wild *** with the Tafla1a/Taspl8b genotype had 52.62.-82.2.%smaller flag leaf angles and no differences in plant height or spikelet density compared with the wild ***1b/Taspl8b plants produced erect leaves with an abnormal lamina *** two alleles had dosage effects on ligule formation and flag leaf angle,but no significant effect on thousand-grain *** mutant alleles provide novel resources for improvement of wheat plant architecture.

Countless fossil embryo Olivooides and the hatched larvae,juveniles and adults(the latter two kinds are Punctatus) are recovered by means of acid maceration from the fine-crystalline to medium-crystalline phosphatic limestone and phosphatic micrite of Early Cambrian Kuanchuanpu Formation at the Shizhonggou section,near Kuanchuanpu Village,Ningqiang County,Shaanxi Province,*** the technique of Synchrotron X-ray Tomographic Microscopy,the 3D internal structure of Olivooides and Punctatus is *** morphological and statistic analyses are also given to the stellae structure of Olivooides and Punctatus,which indicates that this structure is a result of adaptive evolution to a lifestyle of fast-attaching after hatching,probably with the function of mucilage *** internal structure of Punctatus is described and *** ovum-like structure,a common internal feature of Punctatus,is considered as the taphonomic structure,rather than eggs or other biological *** structure is thought to be formed after the burial of the animal and before or during the *** original internal structure of Punctatus is assumed to be tabulae-filled,with soft body grown on them.

There has been a long-running debate over the position of the Pliocene-Pleistocene boundary,i.e.1.8 Ma versus 2.6 *** study presents litho- and pedo-stratigraphic characteristics,grain size,magnetic susceptibility,and dust sedimentation rates for ’red clay’-loess sequences over northern china,in order to assess the drastic climatic event(s) recorded in the quasi-continuous eolian deposits,and to readdress the position of the Pliocene-Pleistocene *** complete chinese loess sequences,33 soil-loess couplets have been identified and labeled with Si-Li ***,the base of chinese loess has been designated at the bottom of loess unit ***,a typical loess layer within the uppermost ’red clay’ is identified and formally designated here as L34 and the soil unit between L33 and L34 as S33, which lowers the basal age of chinese loess from 2.6 Ma to～2.8 *** the Neogene ’red clay’ and the overlying Quaternary loess are both of windblown origin,they have quite different pedogenic *** loess consists of alternating reddish soil and yellowish loess layers,while the ’red clay’ is composed of soils with much redder colour and carbonate nodule *** general,the"red clay"has been subjected to stronger pedogenic processes than the overlying loess,and can be regarded as an extremely thick soil *** alternation of loess and soils reflects large-scale oscillations between glacial and interglacial conditions,whereas the well-developed ’red clay’ deposition indicates a relatively stable climate ***～2.8 Ma,shortly before the Gauss/Matuyama boundary,the eolian sequences show a sedimentary transition from the well-weathered ’red clay’ to the alternating loess and paleosol deposits,accompanied by coarser particle size,increased dust accumulation rates,and change of magnetic susceptibility *** indicate a large climatic shift from long-lasting warm-humid conditions to large-amplitude cold-dry and warm-humid fluc

Finding of high-pressure mafic granulites in the Amdo basement,central Tibet

High-pressure mafic granulites with a peak mineral assemblage of garnet + clinopyroxene + rutile + quartz were found in the Amdo basement,central Tibet. Two kinds of symplectites were identified that are composed of orthopyroxene + plagioclase ± spinel and hornblende + plagioclase around garnet,which were interpreted to develop during the retrogressing stages in the granulites. P-T estimates suggested that peak metamorphic conditions were about 860-92.°C and 1.46-1.56 GPa,which retrogressed from post-peak phase at 82.-890°C and 0.88-1.15 GPa to amphibolite facies at 550-670°C and 0.52.0.65 GPa. These three stages define a clockwise P-T path with near-isothermal decompression and cooling following the peak high-pressure metamorphism. This suggests that the Amdo granulites underwent an initial subduction to a deep crustal level of ～50 km and then were rapidly exhumed to a shallow crustal level (～2. km). The formation of Amdo granulites is considered to result from the arc-continent collision between the Amdo basement and the Qiangtang terrane in the middle Jurassic,which is a crucial step to the tectonic evolution of the Tibetan Plateau.
