Quaternary loess-soil sequences in china and Tajikistan are valuable archives of the chemical weathering history for arid and semi-arid regions of *** development of new proxies independent of grain size are vital to reconstruct the long-term chemical weathering history of eolian *** this study,we analyze major elemental and Rb,Sr and Ba concentrations of decarbonated residue from representative loess and soil units along a north-south transect on the {2. Loess Plateau and compare these concentrations among different grain-size *** show that most of the elemental abundances and ratios vary considerably among different grain-size fractions for both loess and paieosols,indicating transport-driven compositional differentiation of minerals during subaerial ***, (CaO+NaO+MgO)/TiO ratios show little variation among different size fractions for the loess-soil ***-soil sequences at Lingtai(northern china) and Chashmanigar(southern Tajikistan) for the past 1.50-1.77 Ma show lower(CaO+NaO+MgO)/TiO ratios in soil units than in adjacent loess horizons,in good agreement with greater weathering intensity in soils than in loess ***(CaO+NaO+MgO)/TiO ratio of the decarbonated residue is therefore a reliable proxy for chemical weathering of loess deposits that is independent of grain *** (CaO+NaO+MgO)/TiO ratios of the Lingtai and Chashmanigar sections display a relatively regular oscillation within a narrow range in the early Pleistocene,and a rapid increase in average values and in variance from 0.85-0.6 Ma to the present,indicating lowered chemical weathering intensity in both the dust source regions and the depositional *** event may be causally related to the expansion of northern hemisphere ice and/or the regional tectonic uplift of high mountains in Asia since the mid-Pleistocene.

A modified continuous-flow elemental analyzer coupled to an isotope-ratio mass spectrometer (modified EA-IRMS) was tested for on-lineδN measurement on urea solution and biological fluids (***).The elemental analyzer configuration was adapted by adding a U-shaped cold trap and an X-pattem four-way valve for on-line trapping/venting of water from the liquid *** indicate that theδN ratios show little variation(standard deviation(SD) = 0.05‰) with a sample size above the equivalent N yield of 0.2.mg urea(0.092.mg N) when the mass spectrometer conditions were carefully *** contrast,a significant logarithmic decrease inδN with sample size was observed but this can be offset by applying a linearity correction or blank correction when the sample size is between equivalent N yields of 0.05 and 0.2.mg *** blank correctedδN ratios give an overall precision of .16‰whereas the average precision forδN corrected using combined linearity and shift correction is 0.05‰.The relatively large variation in blank correctedδN values may be attributed to the variability of the blankδN in the ***,the blank correction should be carefully performed in routine *** a result,the linearity range of a modified EA-IRMS can be extended to a minimum sample size of 0.02. mg *** addition, the reproducibility of the new system is good,as indicated by the precision(2.) for a set of standards and *** data show that fluids containing nitrogen can be successfully analyzed in the modified EA-IRMS.

A clay-like deposit known as‘red earth’ is widely distributed over the terraces and high lands of the Yangtze River valley in southeast *** typical pedo-stratigraphical features have attracted the interest of pedologists and geologists for many years,although its origin is still *** we report an analyses of the grain-sie distributions,rare -earth element(ree) patterns and upper continental crust(UCC)-normalised major elemental composition of the red earth and compare them with those of the loess and other Aeolian deposits in northern *** results show that the red earth in southeast china has two or three end -member grain-size distributions,similar to the sedimentary characteristics and geochemical composition of Aeolian deposits found in northern *** with other evdence from field observations,these results suggest that the red earth is probably of Aeolian *** the basis of these data,we suggest that thick Aeolian dusts were also deposited in the wet subtropics and that the effect of the winter monsoonal winds upon the dust transport in eastern china was more important than previously *** 2.02.John Wiley & Sons,Ltd.

DEFORMATION OF THE EASTERN HIMALAYAN SYNTAXIS: EVIDENCES FROM STRUCTURES AND KINEMATICS OF ITS WESTERN BOUNDARY

The western boundary of the Eastern Himalayan Syntaxis (EHS) is a deformation belt up to 30km wide (Fig.1). Trending ca. N35°E, it separates the Gangdise magmatic belt in the west from the gneiss of EHS in the east. Its rock association, mica\|schist, quartzite, marble, and amphibolite, can be traced to the south to Gangdise belt and they were probably metamorphosed from the sediments along Yarlung Zangbo. This belt consists of several intensive deformation zones, the largest one of which is along the belt’s western margin from Dongjug to Mainling and we called this ca. 10km wide shear zone as the Dongjug\|Mainling shear zone (DMSZ).DMSZ experienced earlier ductile shear and later ductile\|brittle normal faulting. The earlier deformation produced mylonitic rocks. Their foliation trends N30°～40°E and dips northwest with the angle ranging from 55°to 80°, steepening northeastward. The penetrative kinematic lineation in the rocks has a varying attitude along the trend of DMSZ. It dips southwest with an angle of ca.35° in the southwest near Mainling, whereas dips northeast in the northeast. Moreover, the northeast dipping lineation steepens northeastwards, e.g., its angle ranges form 30° to 45° in the segment from Serkyim La to Dongjug but becomes 60～70° in the northeast most in another zone near Parlung. Kinematic indicators show that the motion of DMSZ had a left\|lateral slipping component, but the vertical motion components were different in the southwest from the northeast. From Serkyim La to the northeast, DMSZ had a kinematics of NW plate (Gangdise belt) thrusting over the SE plate (EHS) and its thrusting component increased toward northeast. However, the DMSZ has a vertical motion with the SE plate (EHS) as the uplifting plate.

Cobalt single-atom catalyst tailored ceramic membrane for selective removal of emerging organic contaminants

Water reuse is an effective way to solve the issues of current wastewater increments and water resource ***,a promising method for water reuse,has the characteristics of low energy consumption,easy operation,and high adaptability to coupling with other water treatment ***,emerging organic contaminants(EOCs)in municipal wastewater cannot be effectively intercepted by ultrafiltration,which poses significant challenges to the effluent quality and sustainability of ultrafiltration ***,we develop a cobalt single-atom catalyst-tailored ceramic membrane(Co1-NCNT-CM)in conjunction with an activated peroxymonosulfate(PMS)system,achieving excellent EOCs degradation and anti-fouling *** interfacial reaction mechanism effectively mitigates membrane fouling through a repulsive interaction with natural organic *** generation of singlet oxygen at the Co-N3-C active sites through a catalytic pathway(PMS/PMS*/OH*/O*/OO*/1 O_(2.)exhibits selective oxidation of phenols and sulfonamides,achieving>90%removal *** findings elucidate a multi-layered functional architecture within the Co1-NCNT-CM/PMS system,responsible for its superior performance in organic decontamination and membrane maintenance during secondary effluent *** highlights the power of integrating Co1-NCNT-CM/PMS systems in advanced wastewater treatment frameworks,specifically for targeted EOCs removal,heralding a new direction for sustainable water management.

Based on an analysis of the fractal structures and mass transport mechanism of typical shear-fluid-ore formation system, the fractal dispersion theory of the fluid system was used in the dynamic study of the ore formation system. The model of point-source diffusive illuviation of the shear-fluid-ore formation system was constructed, and the numerical simulation of dynamics of the ore formation system was finished. The result shows that: (1) The metallogenic system have nested fractal structure. Different fractal dimension values in different systems show unbalance and inhomogeneity of ore-forming processes in the geohistory. It is an important parameter to symbolize the process of remobilization and accumulation of ore-forming materials. Also it can indicate the dynamics of the metallogenic system quantitatively to some extent. (2. 区域新产业发展路径是经济地理学研究的经典议题,演化转向为理解区域产业发展提供了新的视角。但经典的演化经济地理学理论关注点主要集中在具有优势条件且成功发展的核心地区,认为区域新产业的发展建立在历史形成的区域特定因素之上,因而难以解释产业基础薄弱、劳动力欠缺、知识技术水平较低的边缘区域新产业路径形成发展轨迹。为此,论文在综述生命周期、区位机会窗口(空间)、相关多样化和不相关多样化文献的基础上,总结边缘区域新产业发展路径形成演化过程及其与核心区域的异同和联系,并认为边缘区域新产业发展路径的形成受产业异质性、多尺度联系、进入方式和能动性的共同作用:①以渐进创新、所处发展阶段成熟、互动学习或特殊需求为特征的产业更可能在边缘区域出现;②边缘区域新产业路径的出现更多依赖于多尺度相互作用与外部联系的加强;③进入方式以路径移植、分化、扩展为主;④新产业发展路径形成与强化过程是多主体参与者发挥能动性的结果,通过感知识别和抓取发展机会、匹配新产业发展需求。最后,论文根据中国转型期语境以及核心—边缘关系动态探讨了未来可进一步研究的方面。论文为指导边缘区域转型升级、缩小区域发展差距提供理论借鉴。

In northern china,the history of desert migration provides a good measure of the East-Asian summer monsoon variations,since the desert margin environment is very sensitive to changes in summer monsoon *** margin migration can be well documented in the downwind loess deposits,since the grain size of chinese loess is principally controlled by source-to-sink distance and hence the loess grain size is an effective proxy for reconstructing the history of the East-Asian summer *** order to investigate the pattern and migration of the summer monsoon rainfall belt over northern china during the past two glacialinterglacial cycles,contour maps of loess grain size were constructed for MIS 2.3,4,5,6 and *** the grainsize isolines show a near north-south gradient for both glacials and interglacials,indicating a dominant dust source region in north and an approximately north-south dust transport pathway for dust deposits in the main body of the Loess Plateau,at least for the past two glacial-interglacial *** reconstructed southeast desert margin for MIS 2.3,4,5,6 and 7 roughly parallels the present isohyets,implying that the pattern of the East-Asian summer monsoon rainfall belt during the past two glacial-interglacial cycles is similar to the present,i.e.a northeast-southwest trend for the isohyets of the summer monsoon,despite the glacial-interglacial *** the grain-size isolines of MIS 2.as a reference,we derive a northerly desert retreat of～160 km,～19 km,～2.5 km and～2.3 km for MIS 3,4,5 and 7,respectively,and a southerly desert advance of～2. km for MIS 6,that could be preliminarily regarded as the relative migration distance for the East-Asian summer monsoon rainfall belt In addition,the inferred climate conditions in MIS 3 are cool and humid in northern china,while the driest and coldest interval of the last two glacial periods occurs in MIS 6.

Based on the formula for stability of finite-difference methods with second-order in time and general-order in space for the scalar wave equation,I obtain a stability formula for Lax-Wendroff methods with fourth-order in time and general-order in *** the formula for methods with second-order in time,this formula depends on two parameters:one parameter is related to the weights for approximations of second spatial derivatives;the other parameter is related to the weights for approximations of fourth spatial *** discretizing the mixed derivatives properly,the formula can be generalized to the case where the spacings in different directions are different. This formula can be useful in high-accuracy seismic modeling using the scalar wave equation on rectangular grids,which involves both high-order spatial discretizations and high-order temporal approximations.I also prove the instability of methods obtained by applying high-order finite-difference approximations directly to the second temporal derivative,and this result solves the"Bording’s conjecture."

Contemporary crustal movement of continental china obtained by global positioning system(GPS) measurements

We obtain a unified horizontal velocity field of continental china and vicinity through measurements at 81 GPS stations provided by the National Key Infrastructure Project, Crustal Movement Observation Network of china. The velocity field delineates patterns of movements and deformation of active crustal blocks in continental china under the Eurasia-fixed reference frame. The space-based geodesy also clearly shows for the first time the horizontal movementand deformation of continental china induced by indentation of the Indian plate. The data provide kinematic constraints for simulating dynamic process of continental litho-spheric deformation.
