Stratigraphy and age of the Daohugou Bed in Ningcheng,Inner Mongolia

Recent fieldwork has extended the distribution of the Daohugou Bed deposits from the Daohugou Village to its several neighboring areas. The fossil-bearing Daohugou deposits uncomformably overlie complex bedrocks, and com- prise three major parts. The red shales in the lower part were misidentified as belonging to the Tuchengzi Formation. Field excavation has indicated that the shales of upper part of the bed are the major fossil-bearing horizon. Due to strong tectonic activities, sediments were often folded with the se- quences inverted in the region. Some newly recognized con- tacts between the Daohugou Bed and the volcanic rocks showed that the ignimbrite of the Tiaojishan Formation (159―164 Ma) underlies the Daohugou deposits, rather than overlying the latter as previously proposed. Thus, the age of the Daohugou deposits should be younger than the age of the ignimbrite, and thus it was incorrect to correlate the Dao- hugou Bed with the Middle Jurassic Jiulongshan Formation. Although biostratigraphic studies based on conchostracans and insects support a Middle Jurassic-early Late Jurassic age for the Daohugou deposits, vertebrate fossils such as Liaoxitriton, Jeholopterus and feathered maniraptorans show much resemblance to those of the Yixian Formation. In other words, despite the absence of Lycoptera, a typical fish of the Jehol Biota, the Daohugou vertebrate assemblage is closer to that of the Early Cretaceous Jehol Biota than to any other biota. We propose that the Daohugou fossil assemblage probably represents the earliest evolutionary stage of the Jehol Biota based on both vertebrate biostratigraphy and the sedimentological and volcanic features which suggest the Daohugou deposit belongs to the same cycle of volcanism and sedimentation as the Yixian Formation of the Jehol Group.

The record of dinosaur eggs from the Upper Cretaceous wangshi Group in eastern Shandong Province,China shows that the dinosaur species represented by elongatoolithids were present from the middle to the late Late Cretaceous,whereas those represented by the dictyoolithids and spheroolithids became extinct in the middle Late Cretaceous and the new species represented by ovaloolithids appeared in the late Late *** eggshell conductance of water vapor is over 4 to over 115 times higher in spheroolithids and the dictyoolithids than in elongatoolithids and ovaloolithids,indicating that eggs of the first two oofamilies required higher humidity during *** on the18O record as preserved in eggshell,a change from relatively humid to relatively dry climatic conditions can be assumed to have taken place during the transition between the middle and late parts of the Late *** is reasonable to suggest that the change in climate was the cause of the dinosaur diversity.

This research aims to propose an efficient and economic operation mode for bus scheduling optimization by combining with the skip-stop buses and all-stop *** skip-stop tactics in bus operation provide service of high efficiency,good punctuality and high speed for long distance commuters,which attracts wide scholarly *** paper establishes a model to quantitatively evaluate the relevance between stops,and then develops a new optimization method of skip-stop tactics using the data sets of IC card and bus GPS trajectory.A collaborating scheduling optimization model considering the support and confidence among the stops is proposed to precisely suit passengers’demands and improve bus *** optimization objective is to reduce the passengers’total travel time,the number of vehicles in use,and operation energy for both the user’s and the operator’s *** methodology is developed for a single-directional route using a multi-decision choice model with genetic algorithm applied to attain efficient solutions.A case study of Qingdao,which is assessed in this new model,shows a reduction of 18.31%in total passenger travel time and 17.65%in the operational inputs as compared with solutions that do not consider the skip-stop tactics.

A new integrated active sound absorptive terminal using vector hydrophones is developed for the anechoic terminal of impedance tube,with which the reflected and the incident waves can be *** method overcomes the limitations imposed by the sensor spacing and measuring frequency range in the traditional two-hydrophone method,and can effectively expand low-frequency sound absorption band of the *** effect of hydrophone sensitivity on the sound absorptive performance of the terminal is evaluated,a correction method is also provided for the reflection and transmission *** experimental results show that the absorption coefficient in the frequency band of 0.1-2 kHz is over 0.98,which agrees well with the theoretical results.

With the development of nuclear energy, large amounts of radionuclides are inevitably released into the natural environment. It is necessary to eliminate radionuclides from wastewater for the protection of environment. Nanomaterials have been considered as the potential candidates for the effective and selective removal of radionuclides from aqueous solutions under complicated conditions because of their high specific surface area, large amounts of binding sites, abundant functional groups, pore-size controllable and easily surface modification. This review mainly summarized the recent studies for the synthesis, fabrication and surface modification of novel nanomaterials and their applications in the efficient elimination and solidification of radionuclides,and discussed the interaction mechanisms from batch experiments, spectroscopy analysis and theoretical calculations. The sorption capacities with other materials, advantages and disadvantages of different nanomaterials are compared, and at last the perspective of the novel nanomaterials is summarized.

MicroRNAs(miRNAs) are short non-coding RNAs that are involved in the post-transcriptional regulation of protein-coding genes. miRNAs modulate lifespan and the aging process in a variety of organisms. In this study, we identified a role of miR-83 in regulating lifespan of Caenorhabditis elegans. mir-83 mutants exhibited extended lifespan, and the overexpression of miR-83 was sufficient to decrease the prolonged lifespan of the mutants. We observed upregulation of the expression levels of a set of miR-83 target genes in young mir-83 mutant adults; while different sets of genes were upregulated in older mir-83 mutant adults. In vivo assays showed that miR-83 regulated expression of target genes including din-1,spp-9 and col-178, and we demonstrated that daf-16 and din-1 were required for the extension of lifespan in the mir-83 mutants. The regulation of din-1 by miR-83 during aging resulted in the differential expression of din-1 targets such as gst-4 and gst-10. In daf-2 mutants, the expression level of miR-83 was significantly reduced compared to wild-type animals. We identified a role for miR-83 in modulating lifespan in C. elegans and provided molecular insights into its functional mechanism.
