Mutations in CYBB,encoding gp91^(phox)subunit of NADPH oxidase in phagocytes,impair the respiratory burst of neutrophils and result in X-linked chronic granulomatous disease(CGD).While inflammatory response and NETosis are important modalities employed by neutrophils for pathogen clearance,variants in these cell functions in CGD neutrophils(CGD-PMN)could possibly explain the insufficient defense and accumulation of phagocytes in the sites of infection.

Knowledge of intrinsic wettability at solid/liquid interfaces at the molecular level perspective is significant in understanding crucial progress in some fields, such as electrochemistry, molecular biology and earth science. It is generally believed that surface wettability is determined by the surface chemical component and surface topography. However, when taking molecular structures and interactions into consideration,many intriguing phenomena would enrich or even redress our understanding of surface wettability. From the perspective of interfacial water molecule structures, here, we discovered that the intrinsic wettability of crystal metal oxide is not only dependent on the chemical components but also critically dependent on the crystal faces. For example, the （1■02） crystal face of α-Al;O;is intrinsically hydrophobic with a water contact angle near 90°, while another three crystal faces are intrinsically hydrophilic with water contact angles <65°. Based on surface energy analysis, it is found that the total surface energy, polar component and Lewis base portion of the hydrophobic crystal face are all smaller than the other three hydrophilic crystal faces indicating that they have different surface states. DFT simulation further revealed that the adsorbed interfacial water molecules on each crystal face hold various orientations. Herein, the third crucial factor for surface wettability from the perspective of the molecular level is presented, that is the orientations of adsorbed interfacial water molecules apart from the macro-level chemical component and surface topography. This study may serve as a source of inspiration for improving wetting theoretical models and designing controllable wettability at the molecular/atomic level.

In this article we describe a new and excep-tionally well-preserved pterodactyloid pterosaur, Sinopterus dongi gen. et sp. nov. from the Jiufotang Formation in west-ern Liaoning Province of northeast China. The new species is referred to the family Tapejaridae, representing its first re-cord outside Brazil. It also represents the earliest occurrence as well as the most complete skeleton of the family. Some revisions are made about the family according to the mor-phological observations of the postcranial bones of Sinop-terus. Two pterosaur assemblages appear to have existed in the Jehol Group, represented by the lower Yixian Formation and upper Jiufotang Formation, respectively. The lower pterosaur assemblage shows some resemblance to that of the Late Jurassic in Solnhofen (Tithonian) by sharing members of the Pterodactylidae and Anurognathidae. The upper one shows more resemblance to that of the Early Cretaceous Santana Formation (Aptian/Albian) by comprising only pterodactyloids such as the Tapejaridae. The age of the Yixian Formation is younger than that of the Solnhofen lithographic limestone, and the age of the Jiufotang Forma-tion (Aptian) is slightly older than the Santana Formation.

The surface and bulk properties of Ce-5% La were studied with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS)and X-ray diffraction (XRD), *** XRD analysis shows that cerium in bulk is in γ-phase, and its lattice parameter is 0.516 *** we also find Ce2O3 in the bulk from the XRD figure but no existence of metal lanthanum because of its small *** XPS analysis shows that there are always oxides existing in the *** O1s peak always exists at the binding energy of 530.3 eV, which may be attributed to Ce2O3 and La2O3, but no evidence was found for the existence of *** is concluded that there is a thick layer of Ce2O3 on the sample *** the Ce3d peak show multi-split in the figure, in which there are two peaks in each region, 3d5/2 and 3d3/2, and the binding energy of these peaks are 882.86, 887.70 eV for 3d5/2, and 901.44, 905.93 eV for 3d3/*** special phenomena can be attributed to the changes of 4f electronic configuration, and the cerium in the sample exhibits properties similar to *** the influence of the addition of lanthanum to cerium is not visible, and further investigations are expected.

The contribution of photoinduced charge-transfer enhancement to the SERS of uranyl(Ⅵ) in a uranyl-Ag_2O complex

Charge-transfer(CT) is an important enhancement mechanism in the field of surface-enhanced Raman scattering(SERS) that typically increases the Raman intensity of molecules by as much as 10–100 ***, a low-cost Ag_2O aggregates substrate was prepared via a facile chemical precipitation method,and the calculated CT-based enhancement factor of the uranyl ions adsorbed on it reached as high as 10~5, a metal-comparable value. The efficient photoinduced CT process from the valence band of Ag_2O to the LUMO of uranyl ions under appropriate excitation sources resulted in the repulsion of the axial oxygen atoms of the O=U=O bond, which enhanced its polarizability, creating a more intense Raman mode. To the best of our knowledge, this study firstly reports such a strong photoinduced CT enhancement of uranyl ions, with concentrations of 10^(-8) mol L^(-1) or lower being detected using this Ag_2O substrate. Most importantly, this research has shown that the photoinduced CT enhancement also contributes to the SERS of uranyl ions on pure Ag substrates which have often been ascribed to the electromagnetic enhancement in previous studies. In addition, Ag_2O can be used to selectively detect uranyl ions without interference from many other molecules or ions because of the energy matching rule of the photoinduced CT process, which was readily available for uranyl detection in the environmental aqueous solution.

In situ REE concentrations of various dolomites from Tarim Basin were obtained by LA-ICP-MS analysis,and the data were normalized to standard seawater(Seawater Normalized=SWN).Most of the samples have a ΣREE range of less than 20 *** samples show similar REESWN distributions with heavy REE depletion,and positive Ce anomaly,which indicates that they have the same dolomitization fluids(seawater).According to the origin and diagenetic process of dolomite,two types of dolomite are determined and described as follows:1) syndepositional dolomite,with the highest REE concentrations(more than 20 ppm),the cores of which are more enriched in REE compared with their cortexes,indicating that they underwent the dolomitization of calcareous sediments by hypersaline and subsequent diagenesis decreased the REE content of the cortex because of the low REE concentration of the diagenetic fluids;2) diagenetic dolomite,which can be subdivided into four groups.(1) burial dolomite which has higher REE concentrations than limestone,but lower than syndepositional *** shows that pore fluids with high salinity dolomitized the pre-existing limestone;(2) void filling dolomite which has the similar REE patterns with the matrix *** addition,the Eu anomaly is not obvious,suggesting that the dolomitization fluids originated from the diagenetic fluids;(3) recrystallized dolomite,whose REE concentration was obviously decreased,indicating that the REE concentration was decreased during the recrystallization processes;and(4) hydrothermal altered void-filling dolomite,which has the lowest REE concentration,but obvious positive Eu anomaly,reflecting its hydrothermal activity related ***,the diverse REE signatures,which were recorded in different dolomites,retain the information of their formation conditions and subsequent diagenetic *** situ REE analysis of dolomite is an effective probe into the origin and diagenetic process of dolomite.

Phenolic-metal complexation coatings have been discovered to be a universal route for the deposition of multifunctional coatings. However, most complexation coatings have been prepared by the immersion method, which limits their practical large-scale application. Herein, we describe a facile and green engineering strategy that involves spraying phenolic compound and metal ions on substrate to form in-situ complexation coating with different coordination states. The coating is formed within minutes and it can be achieved in large scale by the spray method. The pyrogallol-Fem complexation coating is prepared at pH 7.5, which consists predominantly of biscoordination complexation with a small amount of tris-coordination complexation. It displays that the water contact angle is near zero due to the generation of rough hierarchical structures and massive hydroxyl groups. The superhydrophilic cotton resulting from the deposition of the pyrogallol-Fe^Ⅲ complexation can separate oil/water mixtures and surfactant-stabilized oil-in-water emulsions with high separation efficiency. The formation of the phenolic-metal complexation coating by using spray technique constitutes a cost-effective and environmentally friendly, strategy with potential to be applied for large-scale surface engineering processes and green oil/water separation.
