High-performance formaldehyde prediction for indoor air quality assessment using time series deep learning

Indoor air pollution resulting from volatile organic compounds(VOCs),especially formaldehyde,is a significant health concern needed to predict indoor formaldehyde concentration(Cf)in green intelligent building design.This study develops a thermal and wet coupling calculation model of porous fabric to account for the migration of formaldehyde molecules in indoor air and cotton,silk,and polyester fabric with heat flux in Harbin,Beijing,Xi’an,Shanghai,Guangzhou,and Kunming,China.The time-by-time indoor dry-bulb temperature(T),relative humidity(RH),and Cf,obtained from verified simulations,were collated and used as input data for the long short-term memory(LSTM)of the deep learning model that predicts indoor multivariate time series Cf from the secondary source effects of indoor fabrics(adsorption and release of formaldehyde).The trained LSTM model can be used to predict multivariate time series Cf at other emission times and locations.The LSTM-based model also predicted Cf with mean absolute percentage error(MAPE),symmetric mean absolute percentage error(SMAPE),mean absolute error(MAE),mean square error(MSE),and root mean square error(RMSE)that fell within 10%,10%,0.5,0.5,and 0.8,respectively.In addition,the characteristics of the input dataset,model parameters,the prediction accuracy of different indoor fabrics,and the uncertainty of the data set are analyzed.The results show that the prediction accuracy of single data set input is higher than that of temperature and humidity input,and the prediction accuracy of LSTM is better than recurrent neural network(RNN).The method’s feasibility was established,and the study provides theoretical support for guiding indoor air pollution control measures and ensuring human health and safety.

Time-domain dynamic constitutive model suitable for mucky soil site seismic response

Soil nonlinear behavior displays noticeable effects on the site seismic response.This study proposes a new functional expression of the skeleton curve to replace the hyperbolic skeleton curve.By integrating shear modulus and combining the dynamic skeleton curve and the damping degradation coefficient,the constitutive equation of the logarithmic dynamic skeleton can be obtained,which considers the damping effect in a soil dynamics problem.Based on the finite difference method and the multi-transmitting boundary condition,a 1D site seismic response analysis program called Soilresp1D has been developed herein and used to analyze the time-domain seismic response in three types of sites.At the same time,this study also provides numerical simulation results based on the hyperbolic constitutive model and the equivalent linear method.The results verify the rationality of the new soil dynamic constitutive model.It can analyze the mucky soil site nonlinear seismic response,reflecting the deformation characteristics and damping effect of the silty soil.The hysteresis loop area is more extensive,and the residual strain is evident.

Enhancing leaching efficiency of ion adsorption rare earths by ameliorating mass transfer effect of rare earth ions by applying an electric field

Improving the seepage of leaching solution in the ore body and strengthening the mass transfer process of rare earth ions during in-situ leaching are two critical methods to improve the leaching efficiency of rare earth.In this study,2 wt%MgSO_(4)solution was used for the indoor simulated column leaching experiment on rare earth samples and an electric field was applied at both ends of the samples.Then the effects of different intensities,initial application time and duration of the electric field on the rare earth leaching system and its mechanism were investigated.The results show that compared with the single MgSO_(4)solution leaching,applying an electric field with a strength of 6 V/cm can save the leaching time of 30 min and increase the flow velocity of the rare earth leachate by 26.98%.Under the optimal conditions of applying an electric field with a strength of 6 V/cm for 20 min to the leaching system after10 min of the rare earth leachate flowing out,the leaching efficiency of sample increases from 81.20% to 86.05% with the increase of 4.85%.The mechanism analysis shows that when a direct current electric field is applied to the rare earth leaching system,rare earth ions rapidly change from disorderly movement with the seepage into faster and directional movement.In addition,the seepage of the leaching solution is also improved due to the increase of the cross-sectional area of the seepage channel,the polarized water molecules migrate directionally by force from the negative pole,and the movement of the hydrogen is generated by the electrolytic water.More impo rtantly,based on the principle of in-situ leaching process,the layout of injection holes and deflector holes in this process provides a natural site for the electrode layout of the electric field.With the simple equipme nt and the ope ration,the rare earth leaching process with the applied electric field has high feasibility in industrial application.

Impact resistance performance and optimization of the sand-EPE composite cushion in rock sheds

Rock sheds are widely used to prevent rockfall disasters along roads in mountainous areas.To improve the capacity of rock sheds for resisting rockfall impact,a sand and expandable polyethylene(EPE)composite cushion was proposed.A series of model experiments of rockfall impact on rock sheds were conducted,and the buried depth of the EPE foam board in the sand layer was considered.The impact load and dynamic response of the rock shed were investigated.The results show that the maximum impact load and dynamic response of the rock shed roof are all significantly less than those of the sand cushion.Moreover,as the distance between the EPE foam board and rock shed roof decreases,the maximum rockfall impact force and impact pressure gradually decrease,and the maximum displacement,acceleration and strain of the rock shed first decrease and then change little.In addition,the vibration acceleration and vertical displacement of the rock shed roof decrease from the centre to the edge and decrease faster along the longitudinal direction than that along the transverse direction.In conclusion,the buffering effect of the sand-EPE composite cushion is better than that of the pure sand cushion,and the EPE foam board at a depth of 1/3 the thickness of the sand layer is appropriate.

The environmental analysis and site selection of mussel and large yellow croaker aquaculture areas based on high resolution remote sensing

Mussel aquaculture and large yellow croaker aquaculture areas and their environmental characteristics in zhoushan were analyzed using satellite data and in-situ surveys.A new two-step remote sensing method was proposed and applied to determine the basic environmental characteristics of the best mussel and large yellow croaker aquaculture areas.This methodology includes the first step of extraction of the location distribution and the second step of the extraction of internal environmental factors.The fishery ranching index(FRI1,FRI2)was established to extract the mussel and the large yellow croaker aquaculture area in zhoushan,using Gaofen-1(GF-1)and Gaofen-6(GF-6)satellite data with a special resolution of 2 m.In the second step,the environmental factors such as sea surface temperature(SST),chlorophyll a(Chl-a)concentration,current and tide,suspended sediment concentration(SSC)in mussel aquaculture area and large yellow croaker aquaculture area were extracted and analyzed in detail.The results show the following three points.(1)For the extraction of the mussel aquaculture area,FRI1 and FRI2 are complementary,and the combination of FRI1 and FRI2 is suitable to extract the mussel aquaculture area.As for the large yellow croaker aquaculture area extraction,FRI2 is suitable.(2)Mussel aquaculture and the large yellow croaker aquaculture area in zhoushan are mainly located on the side near the islands that are away from the eastern open waters.The water environment factor template suitable for mussel and large yellow croaker aquaculture was determined.(3)This two-step remote sensing method can be used for the preliminary screening of potential site selection for the mussels and large yellow croaker aquaculture area in the future.the fishery ranching index(FRI1,FRI2)in this paper can be applied to extract the mussel and large yellow croaker aquaculture areas in coastal waters around the world.

Characterizing the behavior of surge-type glaciers in the Puruogangri Ice Field, Tibetan Plateau

The Puruogangri Ice Field(PIF), classified as an ultra-continental glacier, is considered extremely stable. However, several glaciers in this area have recently experienced surge events with significant instability and information on surge-type glaciers(STGs) in this region remains scarce. In this study, we identified six STGs and reported the observed characteristics of their surging behavior in the region by mapping glacier boundaries, surface flow velocity information, and glacier surface elevation changes using recent Landsat satellite imagery and shuttle radar topography mission(SRTM), TanDEM, and ASTER digital elevation model(AST14DEM) data. These data provide valuable insights into recent glacial processes, flow instability, and rapid glacial movement. During the active phase of the glaciers,all exhibited frontal advances and changes in surface elevation. Owing to limitations in the satellite imagery, flow velocity profiles were only available for glaciers N1(G089071E33998N),NE1(G089128E33943N), and SE3(G089278E33913N) during the active phase. However,these results effectively reflect the velocity variations in both glaciers before, during, and after the surge. Based on the characteristics of the STG, scientific expeditions, and meteorological data, we believe that the surge in PIF was largely influenced by glacier meltwater and changes in subglacial drainage systems.

The Relationship between Father-Love Absence and Loneliness:Based on the Perspective of the Social Functionalist Theory and the Social Needs Theory

Fathers play an important role in adolescents’development,which is significant for their development and influences their mental health,including feeling of loneliness.However,the effects and mechanisms of father-love absence on individual loneliness are not clear.Based on the social functionalist theory and the social needs theory,this study examines the influence of individual fatherlove absence on loneliness and its underlying mechanisms.A questionnaire survey was administered to 319 junior high school students and 1,476 high school students.The results showed that adolescents with father-love absence had higher levels of loneliness,and that father-love absence affected loneliness levels through mediating pathways of individual gratitude,peer relationships,and gratitude to peer relationships.This study not only confirms the negative effects of father-love absence on adolescents’loneliness,but also explains the mediate roles of individual gratitude and peer relationships.It enriches the theoretical system related to family education and has important theoretical and practical implications for further interventions on adolescents’mental health from the perspective of fatherless parenting.

Enhancing Strength-Ductility Synergy of CoCrNi-Based Medium-Entropy Alloy Through Coherent L1_(2)Nanoprecipitates and Grain Boundary Precipitates

The L1_(2)-strengthened Co_(34)Cr_(32)Ni_(27)Al_(4)Ti_(3)medium-entropy alloy(MEA)with precipitations of grain boundaries has been developed through selective laser melting(SLM)followed by cold rolling and annealing,exhibiting excellent strength-ductility synergy.The as-printed alloy exhibits low yield strength(YS)of~384 MPa,ultimate tensile strength(UTS)of~453 MPa,and uniform elongation(UE)of 1.5%due to the existence of the SLM-induced defects.After cold rolling and annealing,the YS,UTS,and UE are significantly increased to~739 MPa,~1230 MPa,and~47%,respectively.This enhancement primarily originates from the refined grain structure induced by cold rolling and annealing.The presence of coherent sphericalγ'precipitates(L1_(2)phases)and Al/Ti-rich precipitates at the grain boundaries,coupled with increased lattice defects such as dislocations,stacking faults,and ultrafine deformation twins,further contribute to the property’s improvement.Our study highlights the potential of SLM in producing high-strength and ductile MEA with coherent L1_(2)nanoprecipitates,which can be further optimized through subsequent rolling and annealing processes.These findings offer valuable insights for the development of high-performance alloys for future engineering applications.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)has caused many deaths and contributed to a tremendous public health concern worldwide since 2020.Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2)binds to the SARS-CoV-2 virus as a receptor.The challenge of different nonhuman primate(NHP)species by SARSCoV-2 virus demonstrated different effects on virus replication and disease pathology.This study characterizes differences between host ACE2 sequences of three NHP species:Macaca mulatta,Macaca fascicularis,and Chlorocebus sabaeus.In addition,the binding affinity between the ACE2 ectodomain and the SARS-CoV-2 S receptor-binding domain(RBD)was analyzed.Variation of ACE2 sequence among NHP species and the binding affinity may account for different susceptibility and responses to SARS-CoV-2 infection.

An End-To-End Hyperbolic Deep Graph Convolutional Neural Network Framework

Graph Convolutional Neural Networks(GCNs)have been widely used in various fields due to their powerful capabilities in processing graph-structured data.However,GCNs encounter significant challenges when applied to scale-free graphs with power-law distributions,resulting in substantial distortions.Moreover,most of the existing GCN models are shallow structures,which restricts their ability to capture dependencies among distant nodes and more refined high-order node features in scale-free graphs with hierarchical structures.To more broadly and precisely apply GCNs to real-world graphs exhibiting scale-free or hierarchical structures and utilize multi-level aggregation of GCNs for capturing high-level information in local representations,we propose the Hyperbolic Deep Graph Convolutional Neural Network(HDGCNN),an end-to-end deep graph representation learning framework that can map scale-free graphs from Euclidean space to hyperbolic space.In HDGCNN,we define the fundamental operations of deep graph convolutional neural networks in hyperbolic space.Additionally,we introduce a hyperbolic feature transformation method based on identity mapping and a dense connection scheme based on a novel non-local message passing framework.In addition,we present a neighborhood aggregation method that combines initial structural featureswith hyperbolic attention coefficients.Through the above methods,HDGCNN effectively leverages both the structural features and node features of graph data,enabling enhanced exploration of non-local structural features and more refined node features in scale-free or hierarchical graphs.Experimental results demonstrate that HDGCNN achieves remarkable performance improvements over state-ofthe-art GCNs in node classification and link prediction tasks,even when utilizing low-dimensional embedding representations.Furthermore,when compared to shallow hyperbolic graph convolutional neural network models,HDGCNN exhibits notable advantages and performance enhancements.
