Role of contrast-enhanced ultrasound in follow-up assessment after ablation for hepatocellular carcinoma

Efficacy of intravenous zoledronic acid in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis:A meta-analysis

Objective:To compare the eflect of zoledronic acid in treatment and prevention of osteoporosis with ***:Random control trials regarding zoleilroiiic acid in treatment of osteoporosis were retrieved by selecting *** and Pubmed databases till April 2012. The RevMan software was used for all of the statistical ***:A total of 9 trials were included in this *** pooled effect shewed that zoledronic acid could increase the bone mineral density by 2.98 times compared with placebo,and reduce the rate of fracture in patients by 32%.The results should the zoledronic acid intervention had significantly less serious adverse events than controls,and the odds ratio was 0.81(0.76-0.87).The longer term intervention, more than 12 months intervention,could gain a better prevention effect for osteoporosis(OR,95% CI for RMD was 3.***.2.77-3.92:for fracture was 0.***.0.54-0.82).Conclusions:This present study shows that zoledronic acid could be effective approach in the prevention of osteoporosis,and could increase the bone mineral density and reduce the risk ol facture.

Signature based on molecular subtypes of deoxyribonucleic acid methylation predicts overall survival in gastric cancer

BACKGROUND Gastric cancer(GC) ranks as the third leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. Epigenetic alterations contribute to tumor heterogeneity in early *** To identify the specific deoxyribonucleic acid(DNA) methylation sites that influence the prognosis of GC patients and explore the prognostic value of a model based on subtypes of DNA *** Patients were randomly classified into training and test sets. Prognostic DNA methylation sites were identified by integrating DNA methylation profiles and clinical data from The Cancer Genome Atlas GC cohort. In the training set, unsupervised consensus clustering was performed to identify distinct subgroups based on methylation status. A risk score model was built based on Kaplan-Meier, least absolute shrinkage and selector operation, and multivariate Cox regression analyses. A test set was used to validate this *** Three subgroups based on DNA methylation profiles in the training set were identified using 1061 methylation sites that were significantly associated with survival. These methylation subtypes reflected differences in T, N, and M category, age, stage, and prognosis. Forty-one methylation sites were screened as specific hyper-or hypomethylation sites for each specific subgroup. Enrichment analysis revealed that they were mainly involved in pathways related to carcinogenesis, tumor growth, and progression. Finally, two methylation sites were chosen to generate a prognostic model. The high-risk group showed a markedly poor prognosis compared to the low-risk group in both the training [hazard ratio(HR) = 2.24, 95% confidence interval(CI): 1.28-3.92, P < 0.001] and test(HR = 2.12, 95%CI: 1.19-3.78, P = 0.002) *** DNA methylation-based classification reflects the epigenetic heterogeneity of GC and may contribute to predicting prognosis and offer novel insights for individualized treatment of patients with GC.

●AIM:To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of scleral buckling for the treatment of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment(RRD)using a novel foldable capsular buckle(FCB).●METHODS:This was a series of case observation *** patients(18 eyes)who visited our ophthalmology department between August 2020 and August 2022 and were treated for RRD with scleral buckling using FCB were *** procedure was similar to conventional scleral buckling,while a balloon-like FCB was placed onto the retinal break with balanced salt solution filling for a broad,external indentation instead of the silicone *** retinal reattachment rate,best corrected visual acuity(BCVA),intraocular pressure(IOP),refractive dioptre and astigmatism degree,and complications were evaluated and recorded.●RESULTS:There were 7 males and 11 females aged *** average time course of RRD was 12d,ranging from *** retinal break was located in the superior quadrants in 8 eyes and in the inferior quadrants in 10 eyes,with macula-off detachments in 12 *** patients were followed-up for at least *** final retinal reattachment rate was 100%.The BCVA was significantly improved compared with the baseline(P0.05).Three patients had transiently high IOPs within one week after *** diplopia occurred in 5 patients after surgery and then disappeared after the balloon fluid was removed.●CONCluSION:The success rate of FCB scleral buckling for RRD is *** procedure can be expected to be applied in new,uncomplicated cases of RRD.

Synchronous splenectomy and hepatectomy for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma and hypersplenism:A casecontrol study

AIM:To investigate whether the use of synchronoushepatectomy and splenectomy(HS)is more effective than hepatectomy alone(HA)for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)and ***:From January 2007 to March 2013,84consecutive patients with HCC and hypersplenism who underwent synchronous hepatectomy and splenectomy in our center were compared with 84 well-matched patients from a pool of 268 patients who underwent hepatectomy *** short-term and longterm outcomes of the two groups were analyzed and ***:The mean time to recurrence was 21.11±12.04 mo in the HS group and 11.23±8.73 mo in the HA group,and these values were significantly different(P=0.001).The 1-,3-,5-,and 7-year disease-free survival rates for the patients in the HS group and the HA group were 86.7%,70.9%,52.7%,and 45.9%and 88.1%,59.4%,43.3%,and 39.5%,respectively(P=0.008).Platelet and white blood cell counts in the HS group were significantly increased compared with the HA group one day,one week,one month and one year postoperatively(P<0.001).Splenectomy and micro-vascular invasion were significant independent prognostic factors for disease-free ***,tumor number,and recurrence were independent prognostic factors for overall ***:Synchronous hepatectomy and hepatectomy potentially improves disease-free survival rates and alleviates hypersplenism without increasing the surgical risks for patients with HCC and hypersplenism.

The degradation of the permafrost regions, resulting from intensive anthropogenic activities and global warming, has led to the loss of ecosystem services and is threating human well-being. Nevertheless, the real ecosystem service values and their complete zoning system in the permafrost regions have received insufficient attention. Research gaps between the identification of permafrost-based ecosystem services and ecosystem management are seriously constraining the development of cryospheric science. Thus, an ecosystem service zoning framework that links ecosystem services with human welfares is proposed to solve the abovementioned challenges in the permafrost regions of China. The three tiered zoning framework for ecosystem services, consisting of zoning goals, principles, hierarchy, methodology, and nomenclature, is proposed for the permafrost regions of China. A combined method, i.e., GIS spatial tools, the location entropy analysis model, and ecosystem services assessment, was employed to distinguish ecosystem conditions, ecosystem service supply, and beneficiaries into these three-grade ecosystem service zones. Hierarchical and dynamic zoning could clarify protection priorities of ecosystems and ecosystem services in terms of regions, grades, and types. The framework could contribute to sustainable management of ecosystem services in the cryosphere.

Crystal Engineering of Co(Ⅱ) Metal-organic Frameworks Based on the Hydrolysis Product of Letrozole and Coligands

The cyanide groups of letrozole(1-[bis(4-cyanophenyl)methyl]-1,2,4-triazole) were hydrolyzed into the carboxylic groups under alkaline conditions. Then the hydrolysis product(1-[bis(4-carboxylphenyl)methyl]-1,2,4-triazole, H2ltzda) reacted with Co(NO3)2·6H2O in the presence of different bipyridl-typed ligands under hydrothermal conditions. As a result, two new Co(Ⅱ) MOFs were obtained, formulated as [Co2(ltzda)2(bpp)2]n(1) and {[Co2(ltzda)2(bpy)]·4H2O}n(2)(bpp = 1,3-di(4-pyridyl)propane, bpy = 4,4’-bipyridine). Two MOFs have been characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis and magnetic measure. 1 displays a 2D metal-organic framework containing wave layers and 2 shows a pillared-layer structure existing in a 2-fold interpenetrated mode.
