Path signature-based XAI-enabled network time series classification

Classifying network time series(NTS) is crucial for automating network administration and ensuring cyberspace security. It enables the detection of anomalies, the identification of network attacks,and the monitoring of performance issues, thereby providing valuable support for network protection and optimization. However, modern communication networks pose challenges for NTS classification *** include handling large-scale and complex NTS data, extracting features from intricate datasets, and addressing explainability requirements. These challenges are particularly pronounced for complex 5G networks. Notably, explainability has become crucial for the widespread deployment of network automation for 5G networks and beyond. To tackle these challenges, we propose a path-signature-based NTS classification model called recurrent signature(Recur Sig). This innovative model is designed to overcome the time-consuming feature selection problem by utilizing deep-learning(DL) techniques. Additionally, it provides a solution for addressing the black-box issue associated with DL models in network automation systems(NAS) by incorporating an explainable classification approach. Extensive experimentation on various public datasets demonstrates that Recur Sig outperforms existing models in accuracy and explainability. The results indicate its potential for application in cyberspace security and automated network management, offering an explainable solution for network protection and optimization.

Establishment of hepatocellular carcinoma multidrug resistant monoclone cell line HepG2/mdr1

Background The multidrug resistance （MDR） associated with the expression of the mdr1 gene and its product P-glycoprotein is a major factor in the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma cell （HCC） patients treated with chemotherapy. Our study was to establish a stable HCC MDR cell line where a de novo acquisition of multidrug resistance specifically related to overexpression of a transgenic mdr1. Methods The 4.5-kb mdrl cDNA obtained from the plasmid pHaMDR1-1 was cloned into the PCl-neo mammalian expression vector, later was transferred by liposome to human hepatocarcinoma cell line HepG2. Then the transfected HepG2 cells resisting G418 were clustered and cultured and the specific fragment of mdr1 cDNA, mRNA and the P-glycoprotein （Pgp） in these HepG2 cells were detected by PCR, RT-PCR and flow cytometry, respectively. The accumulation of the daunorubicin was determinated by flow cytometry simultaneously. The nude mice model of grafting tumour was established by injecting subcutaneously HepG2/mdr1 cells in the right axilla. When the tumour diameter reached 5 mm, adriamycin was injected into peritoneal cavity. The size and growth inhibition of tumour were evaluated. Results The mdr1 expression vector was constructed successfully and the MDR HCC line HepG2/mdr1 developed. The PCR analysis showed that the specific fragment of mdrl cDNA in HepG2/mdr1 cells, but not in the control group HepG2 cells. Furthermore, the content of the specific fragment of mdr1 mRNA and Pgp expression in HepG2/mdr1 cells were （59.7±7.9）% and （12.28±2.09）%, respectively, compared with （16.9±3.2）% and （3.07±1.06）% in HepG2 cells. In the nude mice HCC model, the tumour genes of both groups were identified. After ADM therapy, the mean size of HepG2 cell tumours was significantly smaller than HepG2/mdr1 cell tumours. Enhancing action discrimination via category-specific frame clustering for weakly-supervised temporal action localization

Temporal action localization (TAL) is a task of detecting the start and end timestamps of action instances and classifying them in an untrimmed video. As the number of action categories per video increases, existing weakly-supervised TAL (W-TAL) methods with only video-level labels cannot provide sufficient supervision. Single-frame supervision has attracted the interest of researchers. Existing paradigms model single-frame annotations from the perspective of video snippet sequences, neglect action discrimination of annotated frames, and do not pay sufficient attention to their correlations in the same category. Considering a category, the annotated frames exhibit distinctive appearance characteristics or clear action ***, a novel method to enhance action discrimination via category-specific frame clustering for W-TAL is proposed. Specifically,the K-means clustering algorithm is employed to aggregate the annotated discriminative frames of the same category, which are regarded as exemplars to exhibit the characteristics of the action category. Then, the class activation scores are obtained by calculating the similarities between a frame and exemplars of various categories. Category-specific representation modeling can provide complimentary guidance to snippet sequence modeling in the mainline. As a result, a convex combination fusion mechanism is presented for annotated frames and snippet sequences to enhance the consistency properties of action discrimination,which can generate a robust class activation sequence for precise action classification and localization. Due to the supplementary guidance of action discriminative enhancement for video snippet sequences, our method outperforms existing single-frame annotation based methods. Experiments conducted on three datasets (THUMOS14, GTEA, and BEOID) show that our method achieves high localization performance compared with state-of-the-art methods.

Hierarchical Controller Synthesis Under Linear Temporal Logic Specifications Using Dynamic Quantization

A Low Earth Orbit(LEO)constellation augmenting satellite navigation is important in the future development of Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS).GNSS augmented by LEO constellations can improve not only the accuracy of Positioning,Navigation,and Timing(PNT),but also the consistency and reliability of secure PNT *** paper mainly analyzes the diverse demands of different PNT users for LEO augmented GNSS,including the precision demand in real-time,the availability demand in special areas,the navigation signal enhancement demand in complex electromagnetic environments,and the integrity demand with high ***,the possible contributions of LEO constellations to PNT performance are analyzed from multiple aspects.A particular attention is paid to the special PNT user requirements that cannot be fulfilled with existing GNSS,such as the PNT service demand in the polar regions and the onboard GNSS orbit determination demand of some LEO *** key technologies to be considered in the constellation design,function realization,and payload development of the LEO-augmented navigation system are summarized.

A Novel Graph Structure Learning Based Semi-Supervised Framework for Anomaly Identification in Fluctuating IoT Environment

With the rapid development of Internet of Things(IoT)technology,IoT systems have been widely applied in health-care,transportation,home,and other ***,with the continuous expansion of the scale and increasing complexity of IoT systems,the stability and security issues of IoT systems have become increasingly ***,it is crucial to detect anomalies in the collected IoT time series from various ***,deep learning models have been leveraged for IoT anomaly ***,owing to the challenges associated with data labeling,most IoT anomaly detection methods resort to unsupervised learning ***,the absence of accurate abnormal information in unsupervised learning methods limits their *** address these problems,we propose AS-GCN-MTM,an adaptive structural Graph Convolutional Networks(GCN)-based framework using a mean-teacher mechanism(AS-GCN-MTM)for anomaly *** performs better than unsupervised methods using only a small amount of labeled *** Teachers is an effective semi-supervised learning method that utilizes unlabeled data for training to improve the generalization ability and performance of the ***,the dependencies between data are often unknown in time series *** solve this problem,we designed a graph structure adaptive learning layer based on neural networks,which can automatically learn the graph structure from time series *** not only better captures the relationships between nodes but also enhances the model’s performance by augmenting key *** have demonstrated that our method improves the baseline model with the highest F1 value by 10.4%,36.1%,and 5.6%,respectively,on three real datasets with a 10%data labeling rate.
