Preseismic deformation in the seismogenic zone of the Lushan MS7.0 earthquake detected by GPS observations

A continuous GPS array across the southern segment of the Longmenshan fault zone recorded the deformation during the process of the Lushan MS7.0 earthquake that occurred on April 20, 2013. Such data can provide meaningful information regarding the dynamic evolution of crustal deformation in the seismogenic zone. Our studies have shown that the occurrence of the Wenchuan earthquake led to the loading of compressive and sinistral shearing strain on the southern segment of the Maoxian-Wenchuan fault, whereby the extrusion strain accumulated at a greater rate than before the Wenchuan earthquake. The strain time series in the seismogenic zone revealed that the principal compression strain rates decreased from west to east in the direction of N30°–45°W. Furthermore, the area to the east of Beichuan-yingxiu fault behaved as a zone of compressive deformation with obvious sinistral shearing deformation. The surface strain and the first shearing strain time series decreased with time, while the area to the west of the Beichuan-yingxiu fault behaved as a zone of dextral shear deformation that increased with time. Furthermore, the regional deformation field before the Lushan earthquake showed that the rate of extrusion strain accumulation in the southern segment of the Longmenshan fault zone was obviously larger than before the Wenchuan earthquake. Moreover, the sinistral shearing strain accumulated in the area of the southern segment of the Maoxian-Wenchuan fault. Based on the above analysis, we consider that the eastward movement of the Bayan Har block increased considerably following the Wenchuan earthquake, which enhanced the accumulation of compression strain in the southern segment of the Longmenshan fault zone.

Temperature-independent elastic modulus is termed as Elinvar effect,which is available by tuning the continuous spin transition of ferromagnetic alloys via composition optimization and the first-order martensitic transformation of shape memory alloys via plastic ***,these reversible mechanisms are restricted generally in a narrow temperature range of less than 300 *** reports,by tuning a spinodal decomposition in a Ti-Nb-based titanium alloy via aging treatment,both the Elinvar effect in a wide temperature range of about 500 K and a high strength-to-modulus ratio of about 1.5%can be obtained by a continuous and reversible crystal ordering *** results demonstrate that the alloy aged at 723 K for 4 h has a nanoscale plate-like modulatedβ+α"two-phase microstructure and its elastic modulus keeps almost constant from 100 to 600 *** and in-situ x-ray diffraction measurements reveal that the crystal ordering parameter of theα"phase increases linearly with temper-ature from 0.88 at 133 K to 0.97 at 523 K but its volume fraction keeps a constant of about 33.8%.This suggests that the continuous ordering of theα"phase toward the high modulusαphase induces a posi-tive modulus-temperature relation to balance the negative relation of the elastically stableβ*** aged alloy exhibits a high yield strength of 1200 MPa,good ductility of 16%and a high elastic admissible strain of 1.5%.Our results provide a novel strategy to extend the Elinvar temperature range and enhance the strength by tuning the crystal ordering of decomposition alloys.

EFFECT OF CARBON MIGRATION ON CREEP PROPERTIES OF Cr5Mo DISSIMILAR WELDED JOINTS WITH Ni-BASED AND AUSTENITIC WELD METAL

In this paper, the effect of carbon migration on creep properties of Cr5Mo dissimilar welded joints with Ni-based (Inconel 182) and Cr23Nil3 (A302) austenitic weld metal was investigated. Carbon migration near the weld metal/ferritic steel interface of Cr5Mo dissimilar welded joints was analyzed by aging method. Local creep deformations of the dissimilar welded joints were measured by a long-term local creep deformation measuring technique. The creep rupture testing was performed for Cr5Mo dissimilar welded joints with Inconel 182 and A302 weld metal. The research results show that the maximum creep strain rate occurs in the decarburized zone located on heat affect zone (HAZ) of Cr5Mo ferritic steel. The creep rupture life of Cr5Mo dissimilar welded joints with A 302 weld metal decreases due to carbon migration and is about 50% of that welded with Inconel 182 weld metal.

A Novel MTJ-Based Register

With the development of magnetic tunnel junction （MTJ） structure, it has been used in the field of electric circuit with emerging merits, such as high-density, easy integrated, etc. A novel register, in which MTJ device is centered, is proposed in this paper. Based on the demand of MTJ＇s reading and writing process, some additional devices have been integrated with the MTJ device to compose the actual structure. It has been simulated using Hspice and the simulated result shows that it can be operated as a register in the circuit. Moreover, the layout of the register based on 0.5 μm complementary metal-oxide semiconductor （CMOS） process has been finished.

In the current work,we demonstrated that the rejuvenation of metallic glasses can be achieved through training theβrelaxation *** the increase in the training frequency,a transition from structural relaxation to rejuvenation can be *** rejuvenation treatment is unexpected due to it occurs at a relatively small cyclic strain of 0.2%.Rejuvenation is beneficial to increase the relaxation enthalpy and promotes the decoupling of theβrelaxation process andαrelaxation process.A cluster ofβrelaxation time curves are formulated to describe any energetic state between ultrastable and ultimately rejuvenated metallic *** addition,rejuvenation expands the distribution ofβrelaxation process,anelastic and viscoplastic components during the deformation process.

Enhanced oxidation resistance of Ce by addition of Ga and nanocrystallization

Ce is prone to catastrophic oxidation at room temperature and its oxidation resistance is difficult to be improved by ***,we found that the oxidation resistance of active metal Ce can be significantly improved by the addition of 20 at.%*** ion beam lift-out technique and scanning transmission electron microscopy analysis disclosed that a discontinuous Ga-rich layer was generated beneath the oxide layer in the coarse-grained Ce-Ga *** Ga-rich layer formed by selective oxidation of Ce acts as a diffusion barrier for Ce outward diffusion and ceases the O/M interfacial reaction when a critical concentration of Ga(75 at.%)is *** nanocrystallization,uniform distribution of Ga was *** oxidation,a relatively continuous Ga-rich layer was formed which further enhanced the oxidation *** introduction of noble elements combining with nanocrystallization may provide a novel strategy for the protection of metals with high activity and poor oxidation resistance.

Lead strontium titanate(Sr_(1-x)Pbx)TiO_(3)(0.20≤x≤0.45,step=0.05)ceramics were prepared by conventional mixed oxide *** x-ray diffraction patterns indicate that the prepared samples have perovskite-type *** the increase of Pb content,there is a tendency from the cubic to tetragonal *** scanning electron microscopy micrographs reveal that the addition of Pb can affect *** dependent temperature dielectric permittivity and dielectric loss were investigated in the frequency range from 100 Hz to *** maximum peak of the dielectric permittivity versus temperature curve was broadened and a frequency dispersion of the dielectric permittivity was observed for the(Sr_(0.8)Pb_(0.2))TiO_(3)*** results obtained at the frequency of 10 kHz reveal the Curie temperature linearly increased with the lead *** curves of temperature versus inverse dielectric permittivity at 10 kHz for(Sr_(1-x)Pbx)TiO_(3)ceramics are consistent with Curie-Weiss *** Pyroelectric properties were also *** high pyroelectric coe±cients andfigure of merits indicate that the SPT ceramics are potential materials for pyroelectric sensors.

In-plane ferroelectric tunnel junctions based on 2D α-In_(2)Se_(3)/ semiconductor heterostructures

Ferroelectric tunnel junctions(FTJs)have great potential for application in high-density non-volatile ***,α-In_(2)Se_(3) was found to exhibit robust in-plane and out-of-plane ferroelectric polarizations at a monolayer thickness,which is ideal to serve as a ferroelectric component in miniaturized electronic *** this work,we design two-dimensional van der Waals heterostructures composed of anα-In_(2)Se_(3) ferroelectric and a hexagonal IV–VI semiconductor and propose an in-plane FTJ based on these *** first-principles calculations show that the electronic band structure of the designed heterostructures can be switched between insulating and metallic states by ferroelectric *** demonstrate that the in-plane FTJ exhibits two distinct transport regimes,tunneling and metallic,for OFF and ON states,respectively,leading to a giant tunneling electroresistance effect with the OFF/ON resistance ratio exceeding 1×*** results provide a promising approach for the high-density ferroelectric memory based on the 2D ferroelectric/semiconductor heterostructures.

New Host Molecules with Imidazoliums as Functional Arms:Syntheses and Anion Recognition

The bridged tri imidazoliums 3·3x --5·3x - (x -=PF - 6, Br -, I -) and bis imidazoliums 6·2PF - 6 were synthesized by N quaternization of imidazole derivative 1 in acetonitrile under reflux. UV spectroscopic titration experiments showed that the halide salts and hexafluorophosphate salts of these imidazoliums exhibited good recognition toward anions in water and in acetonitrile, respectively.
