A benchmark-based method for evaluating hyperparameter optimization techniques of neural networks for surface water quality prediction

Neural networks(NNs)have been used extensively in surface water prediction tasks due to computing algorithm improvements and data *** essential step in developing an NN is the hyperparameter *** practice,it is common to manually determine hyperparameters in the studies of NNs in water resources *** may result in considerable randomness and require significant computation time;therefore,hyperparameter optimization(HPO)is *** study adopted five representatives of the HPO techniques in the surface water quality prediction tasks,including the grid sampling(Gs),random search(Rs),genetic algorithm(GA),Bayesian optimization(BO)based on the Gaussian process(GP),and the tree Parzen estimator(TPE).For the evaluation of these techniques,this study proposed a method:first,the optimal hyperparameter value sets achieved by Gs were regarded as the benchmark;then,the other HPO techniques were evaluated and compared with the benchmark in convergence,optimization orientation,and consistency of the optimized *** results indicated that the TPE-based BO algorithm was recommended because it yielded stable convergence,reasonable optimization orientation,and the highest consistency rates with the benchmark *** optimization consistency rates via TPE for the hyperparameters hidden layers,hidden dimension,learning rate,and batch size were 86.7%,73.3%,73.3%,and 80.0%,*** the evaluation of HPO techniques directly based on the prediction performance of the optimized NN in a single HPO test,the proposed benchmark-based HPO evaluation approach is feasible and robust.

Compared to transient simulation,steady-state simulation of circulating fluidized bed risers is more efficient,but is also harder to perform due to the complex scale-dependency of dense gas-solid *** this work,steady-state computational fluid dynamics(CFD)simulation of a riser is performed using the steady energy-minimization multi-scale(EMMs)*** is found that the steady state corresponds to an extremely large scale of length and time,thus the grid size required in steady-state simulation is larger than that in transient *** time-averaged two-fluid model(TFM)coupled with the steady-state EMMs/1M drag model enables a good prediction of the s-shaped,axial solids distribution and the choking transition,whereas the two-phase turbulence and solids stress models are important in predicting the radially core-annular distribution of *** far as we know,this is the first time that one can predict the choking transition in a steady-state CFD *** improvement may need an EMMs modeling of the time-averaged solid stresses.

Resource utilization of drinking water treatment aluminum sludge in green cementing materials: Hydration characteristics and hydration kinetics

As a byproduct of water treatment,drinking water treatment aluminum sludge(DWTAs)has challenges related to imperfect treatment and disposal,which has caused potential harm to human health and the *** this paper,heat treatment DWTAs as a supplement cementitious material was used to prepare a green cementing *** results show that the 800℃ is considered as the optimum heat treatment temperature for ***-800℃ is fully activated after thermal decomposition to form incompletely crystallized highly activeγ-Al2O3 and active siO_(2).The addition of DWTAs promoted the formation of ettringite and C-(A)-s-H gel,which could make up for the low early compressive strength of cementing materials to a certain *** cured for 90 days,the compressive strength of the mortar with 30% DWTAs-800℃ reached 44.86 *** dynamic process was well simulated by Krstulovi′c-Dabi′c hydration kinetics *** study provided a methodology for the fabrication of environmentally friendly and cost-effective compound cementitiousmaterials and proposed a“waste-to-resource”strategy for the sustainable management of typical solid wastes.

Although solid-state lithium electrolytes have the potential to reduce the safety issues associated with organic liquid electrolytes,disadvantages such as low total conductivity,large interface impedance,and delamination of the interface due to cyclic stress still need to be *** solid-state lithium-ion conductor Li_(0.33)La_(0.56)TiO_(3)(LLTO) was prepared via a hydrothermal route by using CTAB as templates in this *** LLTO with micro-porous channels was obtained and the total conductivity is comparable to the non-porous *** LLTO pellets are infiltrated with the non-porous LLTO precursor solution,and the total conductivities of the infiltrated porous LLTO are all higher than those without *** infiltration,the porous LLTO calcined at 600℃ achieves the highest total conductivity,7.88×10^(-5) s/*** fracture toughness of the infiltrated LLTO is higher than that of the non-porous *** results demonstrate a new way to prepare solid-state lithium-ion conductors with high ionic conductivity and great tolerance to cyclic stress.

Total-factor energy efficiency of ten major global energy-consuming countries

Improving energy efficiency is regarded as a key path to tackling global warming and achieving the sustainable Development Goals(sDGs).In 2020,the energy consumption of the world's ten major energy-consuming countries accounted for 66.8%of the global *** paper applied data envelopment analysis(DEA)to calculate these ten major energyconsuming countries'total-factor energy efficiency(TFEE)at national and sectoral levels from 2001-2020,and explored the infuencing factors of total-factor energy efficiency with the Tobit regression *** results showed significant difference in the ten countries'energy *** United states and Germany topped the list for total-factor energy efficiency,while China and India were at the ***,the energy efficiency of the industrial subsector has increased significantly over the past two decades,while that of the other subsectors has been relatively *** industrial structure upgrading,per capita GDP,energy consumption structure,and foreign direct investment had significant impacts on energy efficiency with national *** consumption structure and GDP per capita were determinative factors of energy efficiency.

Global hybrid simulations of soft x-ray emissions in the Earth’s magnetosheath

Earth’s magnetopause is a thin boundary separating the shocked solar wind plasma from the magnetospheric plasmas,and it is also the boundary of the solar wind energy transport to the *** x-ray imaging allows investigation of the large-scale magnetopause by providing a two-dimensional(2-D)global view from a *** performing 3-D global hybrid-particle-in-cell(hybrid-PIC)simulations,we obtain soft x-ray images of Earth’s magnetopause under different solar wind conditions,such as different plasma densities and directions of the southward interplanetary magnetic *** all cases,magnetic reconnection occurs at low latitude *** soft x-ray images observed by a hypothetical satellite are shown,with all of the following identified:the boundary of the magnetopause,the cusps,and the *** x-ray emissivity in the magnetosheath is characterized by large amplitude fluctuations(up to 160%);however,the maximum line-of-sight-integrated x-ray intensity matches the tangent directions of the magnetopause well,indicating that these fluctuations have limited impact on identifying the magnetopause boundary in the x-ray ***,the magnetopause boundary can be identified using multiple viewing *** also find that solar wind conditions have little effect on the magnetopause *** solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer(sMILE)mission will provide x-ray images of the magnetopause for the first time,and our global hybrid-PIC simulation results can help better understand the 2-D x-ray images of the magnetopause from a 3-D perspective,with particle kinetic effects considered.

Two-layer Lagrange-based relay network topology and trajectory design for solar system explorations

Exploration targeting outer planets and even the edge of the solar system is an emerging direction for the deep-space exploration in the next decades. To address this challenge, a novel two-layer Lagrangebased relay network topology is proposed in this study. specifically, we utilize the sun-Mars and sun-saturn Lagrange points(LPs) L4 and L5 to build a two-layer backbone relay network, which ensures continuous and high-efficiency communication capability for the exploration of the solar system. Furthermore, we utilize the planetary gravity assist and design the transfer trajectory of backbone relays with the help of planetary celestial body motion equations and Kepler's laws. Moreover, we conduct link budget analysis for multihop relay transmission under Gamma-Gamma distribution, shadowed Rician fading, and additive white Gaussian noise channels in several typical exploration scenarios and validate that the LP relays can effectively support future deep-space exploration missions.

Early non-invasive diagnosis of coronary heart disease(CHD)is ***,it is challenging to achieve accurate CHD diagnosis via detecting *** this work,heterostructured complexes of black phosphorus(BP)and two-dimensional carbide and nitride(Mxene)with high gas sensitivity and photo responsiveness were formulated using a self-assembly strategy.A light-activated virtual sensor array(LAVsA)based on BP/Ti_(3)C_(2)Tx was prepared under photomodulation and further assembled into an instant gas sensing platform(IGsP).In addition,a machine learning(ML)algorithm was introduced to help the IGsP detect and recognize the signals of breath samples to diagnose *** to the synergistic effect of BP and Ti_(3)C_(2)Tx as well as photo excitation,the synthesized heterostructured complexes exhibited higher performance than pristine Ti_(3)C_(2)Tx,with a response value 26%higher than that of pristine Ti_(3)C_(2)*** addition,with the help of a pattern recognition algorithm,LAVsA successfully detected and identified 15 odor molecules affiliated with alcohols,ketones,aldehydes,esters,and ***,with the assistance of ML,the IGsP achieved 69.2%accuracy in detecting the breath odor of 45 volunteers from healthy people and CHD *** conclusion,an immediate,low-cost,and accurate prototype was designed and fabricated for the noninvasive diagnosis of CHD,which provided a generalized solution for diagnosing other diseases and other more complex application scenarios.

Evolutionary game analysis of information service quality control of e-commerce platforms under information ecology

Due to the information asymmetry and imperfect supervision system,the problem of information service quality of e-commerce platforms is becoming increasingly *** on the perspective of information ecology,this paper constructs a three-party evolutionary game model including merchants,e-commerce platforms and governments,and analyzes the dynamic process of the threeparty game under bounded rationality,thereby characterizing the behavior and optimal strategies of information service quality *** carry out numerical simulation using data of the Pinduoduo *** results show that the cost of each party,control strength of e-commerce platforms,proportion of margin deducted and other factors are important factors affecting the quality of information service;Only when the sum of the costs of passive management of e-commerce platforms,penalties for merchants,and the additional revenue generated from the active management exceeds the cost of the active management of the e-commerce platforms,it ensures effective control over the quality of information service in a stable market ***,some suggestions are put forward to optimize the e-commerce information service quality control.
