Enhanced post-combustion CO2 capture and direct air capture by plasma surface functionalization of graphene adsorbent

Graphene has enormous potential to capture CO2due to its unique properties and ***,graphene-based adsorbents have drawbacks of lower CO2adsorption capacity and poor *** work demonstrates a one-step rapid and sustainable N2/h2plasma treatment process to prepare graphene-based sorbent material with enhanced CO2adsorption *** treatment directly enriches amine species,increases surface area,and improves textural *** CO2adsorption capacity increases from 1.6 to 3.3 mmol/g for capturing flue gas,and from 0.14 to 1.3 mmol/g for direct air capture （DAC）.Importantly,the electrothermal property of the plasma-modified aerogels has been significantly improved,resulting in faster heating rates and significantly reducing energy consumption compared to conventional external heating for regeneration of *** aerogels display improved selectivity of 42 and 87 after plasma modification for 5 and 10 min,*** plasma-treated aerogels display minimal loss between 17%and 19% in capacity after 40 adsorption/desorption cycles,rendering excellent *** N2/h2plasma treatment of adsorbent materials would lower energy expenses and prevent negative effects on the global economy caused by climate change.

Tumor suppressor p53-mediated cell cycle arrest and DNA damage repair may exert cytoprotective effects against cancer therapies, including WEE1 inhibition. Considering that p53 activation can also lead to multiple types of cell death, the role of this tumor suppressor in WEE1 inhibitor-based therapies remains disputed. In this study, we reported that nucleolar stress-mediated p53 activation enhanced the WEE1 inhibitor AZD1775-induced ferroptosis to suppress lung cancer growth. Our findings showed that AZD1775 promoted ferroptosis by blocking cystine uptake, an action similar to that of Erastin. Meanwhile, inhibition of WEE1 by the WEE1 inhibitors or si RNAs induced compensatory upregulation of SLC7A11, which conferred resistance to ferroptosis. Mechanistically, AZD1775 prevented the enrichment of h3K9me3, a histone marker of transcriptional repression, on the SLC7A11 promoter by repressing the expression of the histone methyltransferase SETDB1, thereby enhancing NRF2-mediated SLC7A11 transcription. This finding was also validated using the h3K9me3 inhibitor BRD4770. Remarkably, we found that the nucleolar stress-inducing agent Actinomycin D(Act. D) inhibited SLC7A11 expression by activating p53, thus augmenting AZD1775-induced ferroptosis. Moreover, the combination of AZD1775 and Act. D synergistically suppressed wild-type p53-harboring lung cancer cell growth both in vitro and in vivo. Altogether, our study demonstrates that AZD1775 promotes ferroptosis by targeting cystine uptake but also mediates the adaptive activation of SLC7A11 through the WEE1-SETDB1 cascade and NRF2-induced transcription, and inhibition of SLC7A11 by Act. D boosts the anti-tumor efficacy of AZD1775 by enhancing ferroptosis in cancers with wild-type p53.

This article provides the first application of the machine-learning approach in the study of the cross-sections for neutron-capture reactions with the kernel ridge regression(KRR)*** is found that the KRR approach can reduce the root-mean-square(rms)deviation of the relative errors between the experimental data of the Maxwellian-averaged(n,γ)cross-sections and the corresponding theoretical predictions from 69.8%to 35.4%.By including the data with different temperatures in the training set,the rms deviation can be further significantly reduced to 2.0%.Moreover,the extrapolation performance of the KRR approach along different temperatures is found to be effective and reliable.

The current single-atom catalysts(SACs)for medicine still suffer from the limited active site ***,we develop a synthetic method capable of increasing both the metal loading and mass-specific activity of SACs by exchanging zinc with *** constructed iron SACs(h^(3)-FNC)with a high metal loading of 6.27 wt%and an optimized adjacent Fe distance of~4 A exhibit excellent oxidase-like catalytic performance without significant activity decay after being stored for six months and promising antibacterial ***,a“density effect”has been found at a high-enough metal doping amount,at which individual active sites become close enough to interact with each other and alter the electronic structure,resulting in significantly boosted intrinsic activity of single-atomic iron sites in h^(3)-FNCs by 2.3 times compared to low-and medium-loading ***,the overall catalytic activity of h^(3)-FNC is highly improved,with mass activity and metal mass-specific activity that are,respectively,66 and 315 times higher than those of commercial Pt/*** addition,h^(3)-FNCs demonstrate efficiently enhanced capability in catalyzing oxygen reduction into superoxide anion(O_(2)·^(−))and glutathione(GSh)*** in vitro and in vivo assays demonstrate the superior antibacterial efficacy of h^(3)-FNCs in promoting wound *** work presents an intriguing activity-enhancement effect in catalysts and exhibits impressive therapeutic efficacy in combating bacterial infections.

The Michelson Interferometer for Global high-resolution Thermospheric Imaging(MIGhTI)onboard the Ionospheric Connection Explorer(ICON)satellite offers the opportunity to investigate the altitude profile of thermospheric *** this study,we used the red-line measurements of MIGhTI to compare with the results estimated by horizontal Wind Model 14(hWM14).The data selected included both the geomagnetic quiet period(December 2019 to August 2022)and the geomagnetic storm on August 26-28,*** the geomagnetic quiet period,the estimations of neutral winds from hWM14 showed relatively good agreement with the observations from *** to the ICON observations,near the equator,zonal winds reverse from westward to eastward at around 06:00 local time(LT)at higher altitudes,and the stronger westward winds appear at later LTs at lower *** around 16:00 LT,eastward winds at 300 km reverse to westward,and vertical gradients of zonal winds similar to those at sunrise hours can be *** the middle latitudes,zonal winds reverse about 2-4 h *** winds vary more significantly than zonal winds with seasonal and latitudinal *** to the ICON observations,in the northern low latitudes,vertical reversals of meridional winds are found at 08:00-13:00 LT from 300 to 160 km and at around 18:00 LT from 300 to 200 km during the June *** reversals of meridional winds are found at 04:00-07:00 LT from 300 to 160 km and at 22:00-02:00 LT from 270 to 200 km during the December *** the southern low latitudes,meridional wind reversals occur at 08:00-11:00 LT from 200 to 160 km and at 21:00-02:00 LT from 300 to 200 km during the June *** the December solstice,reversals of the meridional wind appear at 20:00-01:00 LT below 200 km and at 06:00-11:00 LT from 300 to 160 *** the northern middle latitudes,the northward winds are dominant at 08:00-14:00 LT at 230 km during the June *** winds persist until

A fracture criterion derived from a microscopic point of view is proposed and has proved to be effective in the analysis of uniaxial tension. On the one hand, a method of predicting a ductile fracture is proposed using a three-dimensional void model and the assumption of velocity discontinuity. The relationship between the void volume fraction and the critical strain to fracture, calculated with the help of the new model, shows the same tendency as that obtained from the modified Thomason model. On the other hand, the mechanical and metallographic analyses of the uniaxial tension experiment are performed using four kinds of carbon steel. The relationship between the void volume fraction and the critical strain to fracture, calculated from the new model, agrees better with the result obtained from the experiment, rather than that calculated by the modified Thomason model, which confirms the validity of the ductile fracture criterion based on the three-dimensional void model.

hepatocellular carcinoma （hCC） is a highly aggressive liver malignancy and the main form of liver cancer. Early diagnosis and treatment of hCC can effectively reduce mortality. Carboxylesterase （CE）-specific detection and imaging can be used for early diagnosis and image-guided surgical of hCC. however, traditional optical probes suffer from poor selectivity and low imaging signal-to-noise ratio. here, we have constructed a series of chemiluminescent probes for carboxylesterase detection based on the strategy of enzymatic pocket-oriented steric tailoring techniques. The probes with different unique and excellent properties have been obtained through the structure-based steric hindrance adjustment on the recognition site. here, CE-2 has been successfully used for high-throughput screening of rapid carboxylesterase inhibitors due to its extremely low detection limit (2.5×10-4U mL-1) and fast recognition ability. CE-3 has been successfully used for image-guided surgery of orthotopic hepatocellular carcinoma due to its ultra-long chemiluminescence imaging （over 12 h） of hepatocellular carcinoma. This study may promote advances in the rapid detection and screening of inhibitory drugs for CE and the field of surgical navigation in hCC.

A modified indicator of the glass forming ability （GFA） from the previous 7 = Tx/（Tl ＋ Tg） for various glass forming liquids is proposed based on a conceptual approach which combines more acceptable physical metallurgy views in terms of the time-temperature-transformation diagrams. It is found that the glass forming ability for glass forming liquids is closely associated mainly with two factors, i.e. （2Tx - Tg） and Tl （wherein Tx is the onset crystallization temperature, Tg the glass transition temperature, and Tl the liquidus temperature）, and could be predicated by a unified parameter γm defined as （2Tx - Tg）/Tl. This approach is confirmed and validated by experimental data in various glass forming systems including oxide glasses, cryoprotectants and metallic glasses, which all shows a higher reliability when their glass forming ability is predicted by the modified parameter.
