Cu-Based Materials for Enhanced C_(2+) Product Selectivity in Photo-/Electro-Catalytic CO_(2) Reduction: Challenges and Prospects

Carbon diox.de conversion into valuable products using photocatalysis and electrocatalysis is an effective approach to mitigate global environmental issues and the energy shortages. Among the materials utilized for catalytic reduction of CO_(2), Cu-based materials are highly advantageous owing to their widespread availability, cost-effectiveness, and environmental sustainability. Furthermore, Cu-based materials demonstrate interesting abilities in the adsorption and activation of carbon diox.de, allowing the formation of C_(2+) compounds through C–C coupling process. Herein, the basic principles of photocatalytic CO_(2) reduction reactions(PCO_(2)RR) and electrocatalytic CO_(2) reduction reaction(ECO_(2)RR) and the pathways for the generation C_(2+) products are introduced. This review categorizes Cu-based materials into different groups including Cu metal, Cu ox.des, Cu alloys, and Cu SACs, Cu heterojunctions based on their catalytic applications. The relationship between the Cu surfaces and their efficiency in both PCO_(2)RR and ECO_(2)RR is emphasized. Through a review of recent studies on PCO_(2)RR and ECO_(2)RR using Cu-based catalysts, the focus is on understanding the underlying reasons for the enhanced selectivity toward C_(2+) products. Finally, the opportunities and challenges associated with Cu-based materials in the CO_(2) catalytic reduction applications are presented, along with research directions that can guide for the design of highly active and selective Cu-based materials for CO_(2) reduction processes in the future.

Heatwaves(HWs)present a major hazard to our society and more ex.reme heatwaves are ex.ected with future climatic ***,it is important to improve our understanding of the underlying processes that drive HWs,in order to boost our socioeconomic-ecological *** this study,we quantified the influences of key driving factors(large-scale atmospheric circulation,soil moisture,and sea surface temperature)and their synergies on recent heatwaves in East *** conducted a factor separation analysis for three recent HW events by constraining the key factors in the regional Weather Research and Forecasting model with their climatologies or pseudo-observations in different *** study showed distinct spatial variations in the HW-controlling factors in East *** synergistic interaction of large-scale circulation and soil moisture was the most important factors in the 2013 Chinese *** the 2018 HWs in Korea and Japan,the same stagnant large-scale atmospheric circulation played a dominant role in driving the HW *** land-atmosphere coupling via soil moisture,its interaction with circulation,and SST ex.ibited stronger influences during the Korean HW than the Japanese *** analysis also revealed temporal variations in the factors driving Korean and Chinese HWs due to typhoon passage and other multiple processes over heterogeneous surfaces(i.e.,topographically induced Foehn winds,large-scale warm advection from the warm ocean,spatial differences in soil moisture).Our findings suggest that future heatwave-related studies should consider interactive contributions of key factors,their interplay with surface heterogeneities of complex.terrain.

Changes in Leaf Stomatal Properties in Rice with the Growing Season

Transplanting rice varieties grown in different seasons can lead to different yields due to different dry matterproduction. Early-season rice varieties transplanted in the late season can obtain high yields with short-growthduration and higher yields driven by higher dry matter production. To make clear the variations in dry matterproduction across seasons, four early-season rice varieties were chosen for late-season transplantation. The grainyield, dry matter accumulation, leaf photosynthetic, and leaf stomatal properties were studied. It was observedthat the average yields of these four varieties in the late season were 33% greater, despite a reduced growth periodof 13 days in comparison with the early season. Furthermore, there was a notable increase in both total and postheadingdry matter production during the late season. The leaf net photosynthetic rate, stomatal area, stomatalwidth, and stomatal length were higher in the late season. Despite no significant difference in stomatal densitybetween seasons, strong positive linear relationships were observed between net photosynthetic rate and stomatalconductance, and between stomatal conductance and area. These relationships demonstrate that the increase ofthe stomatal width and length of the leaves in the late season leads to an increase in the stomatal area, therebyincreasing the stomatal conductance and enhancing the photosynthesis of the leaves. Consequently, this leads togreater dry matter production and a higher yield compared to the early season. Therefore, when breeding newhigh-yielding and short-growing varieties, the large stomatal area can be used as a reference index.

BACKGROUND Colon cancer presents a substantial risk to the well-being of elderly people *** advancements in medical technology,surgical treatment has become the primary approach for managing colon cancer ***,due to age-related physiological changes,especially a decline in cognitive function,older patients are more susceptible to the effects of surgery and anesthesia,increasing the relative risk of postoperative cognitive dysfunction(POCD).There-fore,in the surgical treatment of elderly patients with colon cancer,it is of pa-ramount importance to select an appropriate anesthetic approach to reduce the occurrence of POCD,protect brain function,and improve surgical success *** One hundred and seventeen patients with colon cancer who underwent elective surgery under general anesthesia were selected and divided into two groups:A and *** A received Dex.before anesthesia induction,and B group received an equivalent amount of normal *** in the mini-mental state ex.mi-nation,regional cerebral ox.gen saturation(rSO2),bispectral index.glucose uptake rate(GluER),lactate production rate(LacPR),serum S100βand neuron-specific enolase(NSE),POCD,and adverse anesthesia reactions were compared between the two *** Surgical duration,duration of anesthesia,and intraoperative blood loss were comparable between the two groups(P>0.05).The overall dosage of anesthetic drugs used in group A,including propofol and remifentanil,was significantly lower than that used in group B(Px.ibited higher rSO2 values at the time of endotracheal intubation,30 min after the start of surgery,and immediately after ex.ubation,higher GluER values and lower LacPR values at the time of endotra-cheal intubation,30 min after the start of surgery,immediately after ex.ubation,and 5 min after ex.ubation(Px.ibited lower levels of serum S100βand NSE 24 h postoperatively and a lower incidence of cognitive dysfunction on the 1st and

A Hierarchical LSTM-Based Vehicle Trajectory Prediction Method Considering Interaction Information

Trajectory prediction is an essential component in autonomous driving systems,as it can forecast the future movements of surrounding vehicles,thereby enhancing the decision-making and planning capabilities of autonomous driving *** models relying on constant acceleration and constant velocity often ex.erience a reduction in prediction accu-racy as the forecasted timeframe *** limitation makes it challenging to meet the demands for medium to long-term trajectory ***,data-driven models,particularly those based on Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM)neural networks,have demonstrated superior performance in medium to long-term trajectory ***,this study introduces a hierarchical LSTM-based method for vehicle trajectory *** the difficulty of using a single LSTM model to predict trajectories for all driving intentions,the trajectory prediction task is decomposed into three sequential steps:driving intention prediction,lane change time prediction,and trajectory ***,given that the driving intent and trajectory of a vehicle are always subject to the influence of the surrounding traffic flow,the predictive model proposed in this paper incorporates the interactional information of neighboring vehicle movements into the model *** proposed method is trained and validated on the real vehicle trajectory dataset Nex. Generation *** results show that the proposed hierarchical LSTM method has a lower prediction error compared to the integral LSTM model.

Multi-party privacy-preserving decision tree training with a privileged party

Currently, a decision tree is the most commonly used data mining algorithm for classification tasks. While a significant number of studies have investigated privacy-preserving decision trees, the methods proposed in these studies often have shortcomings in terms of data privacy breach or efficiency. Additionally,these methods typically only apply to symmetric frameworks, which consist of two or more parties with equal privilege, and are not suitable for asymmetric scenarios where parties have unequal privilege. In this paper,we propose SecureCART, a three-party privacy-preserving decision tree training scheme with a privileged party. We adopt the ex.sting pMPL framework and design novel secure interactive protocols for division,comparison, and asymmetric multiplication. Compared to similar schemes, our division protocol is 93.5–560.4× faster, with the communication overhead reduced by over 90%; further, our multiplication protocol is approx.mately 1.5× faster, with the communication overhead reduced by around 20%. Our comparison protocol based on function secret sharing maintains good performance when adapted to pMPL. Based on the proposed secure protocols, we implement SecureCART in C++ and analyze its performance using three real-world datasets in both LAN and WAN environments. he ex.erimental results indicate that SecureCART is significantly faster than similar schemes proposed in past studies, and that the loss of accuracy while using SecureCART remains within an acceptable range.
