Separation of hexane isomers by introducing“triangular-like and quadrilateral-like channels”in a bcu-type metal-organic framework

The separation of hexane isomers is of vital importance to produce high quality gasoline in the petrochemical industry.However,the similar vapor pressure and boiling point of hexane isomers bring great difficulties and challenges in the separation process.Sieving effect,which allowing smaller molecules pass through and preventing others,should be a powerful strategy to solve this problem by making good use of porous materials.Therefore,physical separation by metal-organic framework(MOF)materials appears and becomes a burgeoning separation technique in industry.Due to the weak interaction between hexane isomers with absorbents,it puts forward higher requirements for the accurate design of MOF materials with optimal pore system.To address this issue,a novel MOF[Zn_(9)(tba)_(9)(dabco)_(3)]·12DMA-6MeOH(abbreviation:Zn_(9)(tba)_(9)(dabco)_(3);H_(2)tba=4-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)-benzoic acid;dabco=1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane;DMA=N,N-dimethylacetamide)with bcu network has been designed and synthesized by reticular chemistry strategy.Benefiting from the pre-designed topology and suitable linear ligand H_(2)tba and dabco,the structure of Zn_(9)(tba)_(9)(dabco)_(3)exhibits two types of channels with triangular-like and quadrilateral-like geometry.Zn_(9)(tba)_(9)(dabco)_(3)with appropriate channel size and shape displays potential selective adsorption capacity of vapor-phase hexane isomers through sieving effect.Moreover,outstanding gas adsorptive separation properties of Zn_(9)(tba)_(9)(dabco)_(3)could also be speculated by theoretical ideal adsorbed solution theory(IAST),suggesting Zn_(9)(tba)_(9)(dabco)_(3)can be regarded as a potential adsorbent material for purification natural gas_Breakthrough experiments show that Zn_(9)(tba)_(9)(dabco)_(3)is capable of discriminating all four hexane isomers at 298 K,and the corresponding research octane number(RON)of the eluted mixture closes to 95,which is higher than the standard for industrially refined hexane blends(about 83).We speculate that sieving effect and diffusion are a syne

Copper slag assisted coke reduction of phosphogypsum for sulphur dioxide preparation

The reduction of phosphogypsum(PG)to lime slag and SO_(2)using coke can effectively alleviate the environmental problems caused by PG.However,the PG decomposition temperature remains high and the product yield remains poor.By adding additives,the decomposition temperature can be further reduced and PG decomposition rate and product yield can be improved.However,the use of current additives such as Fe_(2)O_(3)and SiO_(2)brings the problem of increasing economic cost.Therefore,it is proposed to use solid waste copper slag(CS)as a new additive to reduce PG to prepare SO2,which can reduce the cost and meet the environmental benefits at the same time.The effects of proportion,temperature and thermostatic time on PG decomposition are investigated by experimental and kinetic analysis combined with FactSage thermodynamic calculations to optimize the roasting conditions.Finally,the reaction mechanism is proposed.It is found that adding CS to the coke and PG system can increase the rate of PG decomposition and SO_(2)yield while lowering the PG decomposition temperature.For example,when the CS/PG mass ratio increases from 0 to 1,PG decomposition rate increases from 83.38%to 99.35%,SO_(2)yield increases from 78.62%to 96.81%,and PG decomposition temperature decreases from 992.4℃to 949.6℃.The optimal reaction parameters are CS/PG mass ratio of 1,Coke/PG mass ratio of 0.06 at 1100℃for 20 min with 99.35%PG decomposition rate and 96.81%SO_(2) yield.The process proceeds according to the following reactions:2CaSO_(4)+ 0.7C + 0.8Fe_(2)SiO_(4)→0.8Ca_(2)SiO_(4)+ 0.2Ca_(2)Fe_(2)O_(5)+ 0.4Fe_(3)O_(4)+2SO_(2)+ 0.7CO_(2)Finally,a process for decomposing PG with coke and CS is proposed.

Analysis of the Oscillatory Flows of Multiple Shock Waves in a Constant Area Duct

The oscillatory response of multiple shock waves to downstream perturbations in a supersonic flow is studied numerically in a rectangular duct.Multiple shock waves are formed inside the duct at a shock Mach number of 1.75.The duct has an exit height of H,and the effect of duct resonance on multiple shock oscillations is investigated by attaching exit ducts of lengths 0H,50H,and 150H.The downstream disturbance frequency varied from 10 Hz to 200 Hz to explore the oscillation characteristics of the multiple shock waves.The oscillatory response of shock waves under self-excited and forced oscillation conditions are analyzed in terms of wall static pressure,shock train leading-edge location,shock train length,and the size of the separation bubble.The extent of the initial shock location increases with an increase in exit duct length for the self-excited oscillation condition.The analysis of the shock train leading edge and the spectral analysis of wall static pressure variations are conducted.The variation in the shock train length is analyzed using the pressure ratio method for self-excited as well as forced oscillations.The RMS amplitude of the normalized shock train length(ζ_(ST))increases with an increase in the exit duct length for the self-excited oscillation condition.When the downstream perturbation frequency is increased,ζ_(ST)is decreased for exit duct configurations.For all exit duct designs and downstream forcing frequencies,the size of the separation bubble grows and shrinks during the shock oscillations,demonstrating the dependence on duct resonance and forced oscillations.

Recent Advances in Pd-Catalyzed Reactions Involving the “On-Water” Mechanism

As the chemical industry grapples with the need for more eco-friendly practices,the use of water as a reaction medium is gaining attraction in organic transformations.This mini-review delves into Pd-catalyzed reactions that utilize the "on-water" mechanism,spanning from 2019 to late 2023.These reactions are neatly categorized into several types: (A) Catalytic C—H activations,(B) Mizoroki- Heck-type reactions,(C) Suzuki-Miyaura reactions,and (D) Cyclization reactions.By showcasing the potential of water as a sustainable reaction medium for organic transformations,these reactions leave no doubt about the importance of embracing eco-friendly practices in the chemical industry.Key Scientists In 1980,a seminal work by Breslow et al.showed an acceleration of reaction rate in the Diels-Alder reaction.Sharpless and co-workers noted a significant increase in the rate of the [2σ+2σ+2π] cycloaddition of quadricyclane and dimethyl azodicarboxylate (DMAD) when the reaction was conducted in water,as opposed to when it was carried out in organic solvents.The term "on-water" was then coined to describe this phenomenon.This strategy was further expanded to transition-metal catalyzed transformations by Ackermann in 2011.Later,Varma and Leazer disclosed a Pd-catalyzed Mizoroki-Heck type arylation of alkenes with diaryliodonium salts “on-water”.The enantioselective version of "on-water" process was not realized until 2014 by the Zhou group.Later on,the Schaub group described a Pd-catalyzed Suzuki–Miyaura coupling reaction of electron-poor aryl chlorides with water,using only 50 ppm of catalyst loading.Very recently,Liu and Lin extended the "on-water" strategy to Pd-catalyzed double Mizoroki-Heck reactions.This mini-review has focused on Pd-catalyzed reactions involving the “on-water” mechanism.

The continuously growing importance of batteries for powering(hybrid)electric vehicles and storing renewable energy has prompted a renewed focus on lithium-metal batteries(LMBs)in recent years,as its high theoretical specific capacity of about 3860 mA h g^(-1) and very low redox potential(-3.04 V vs.the standard hydrogen electrode)promise substantially higher energy densities compared to current lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)[1].However,lithium metal electrodes face severe challenges associated with the risk of dendritic lithium deposition and the high reactivity with traditional organic liquid electrolytes,resulting in a continuous loss of electrochemically active lithium and a relatively low Coulombic efficiency[2].To address these challenges,solid inorganic and polymer electrolytes have emerged as a potentially saferalternative.

Investigating the Absorption and Desorption Behavior of Methylene Chloride in the Poly(aryl ether ketone) Film with Different Crystallinities

Poly(aryl ether keton e)(PAEK) films with different crystallinities were obtained by controlling the cooling rate,which were subjected to the absorption and desorption of methylene chloride(CH_(2)Cl_(2)).We employed attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared(ATR-FTIR)spectroscopy analyses to investigate the diffusion behavior of CH_(2)Cl_(2) in PAEK films with different crystallinities.According to the Fickian diffusion model,the calculated diffu sion coefficients of CH_(2)Cl_(2) in PAEK films were observed to decrease with increasing crystallinity.The effect of CH_(2)Cl_(2)absorption and desorption on the mechanical properties of PAEK films with different crystallinity was further analyzed using tensile tests.The tensile tests exhibited that CH_(2)Cl_(2) has two concurrent effects:plasticization and solvent-induced crystallization.Differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) and wide-angle x-ray diffraction(WxRD) techniques further confirmed solvent-induced crystallization behavior.The results would be beneficial to understand the solvent resistance of PAEK materials and consequently provide the practical application conditions of PAEK with a theoretical basis.

Three-dimensional stability calculation method for high and large composite slopes formed by mining stope and inner dump in adjacent open pits

The 2D limit equilibrium method is widely used for slope stability analysis.However,with the advancement of dump engineering,composite slopes often exhibit significant 3D mechanical effects.Consequently,it is of significant importance to develop an effective 3D stability calculation method for composite slopes to enhance the design and stability control of open-pit slope engineering.Using the composite slope formed by the mining stope and inner dump in Baiyinhua No.1 and No.2 open-pit coal mine as a case study,this research investigates the failure mode of composite slopes and establishes spatial shape equations for the sliding mass.By integrating the shear resistance and sliding force of each row of microstrip columns onto the bottom surface of the strip corresponding to the main sliding surface,a novel 2D equivalent physical and mechanical parameters analysis method for the strips on the main sliding surface of 3D sliding masses is proposed.Subsequently,a comprehensive 3D stability calculation method for composite slopes is developed,and the quantitative relationship between the coordinated development distance and its 3D stability coefficients is examined.The analysis reveals that the failure mode of the composite slope is characterized by cutting-bedding sliding,with the arc serving as the side interface and the weak layer as the bottom interface,while the destabilization mechanism primarily involves shear failure.The spatial form equation of the sliding mass comprises an ellipsoid and weak plane equation.The analysis revealed that when the coordinated development distance is 1500 m,the error rate between the 3D stability calculation result and the 2D stability calculation result of the composite slope is less than 8%,thereby verifying the proposed analytical method of equivalent physical and mechanical parameters and the 3D stability calculation method for composite slopes.Furthermore,the3D stability coefficient of the composite slope exhibits an exponential correlation with the coordinated development dista

Production of linear alkylbenzene over Ce containing Beta zeolites

Ce-encapsulated Beta zeolite was synthesized by a one-pot hydrothermal method with citric acid complexing Ce in the absence of Na species.Additional citric acid can effectively prevent the deposition of Ce species during the hydrothermal synthesis of zeolites,leading to uniform distribution of Ce cluster in the framework of Beta zeolites.Moreover,the sodium-free synthesis system resulted that the Brønsted acid sites were mainly located on the straight channels and external surface of Beta zeolites,improving the utilization of Brønsted acid sites.In addition,Ce encapsulated Beta zeolites showed enhanced activity and robust stability in the alkylation of benzene with 1-dodecene based on the synergistic effect between Ce species and Brønsted acid sites,which pave the way for its practical application in the production of alkylbenzene.

Dual metal ions/BNQDs boost PMS activation over copper tungstate photocatalyst for antibiotic removal:Intermediate,toxicity assessment and mechanism

In the metal-based peroxymonosulfate(PMS)activation process,the sluggish surface redox cycle of metal ions generally hampered the efficiency of PMS activation for pollutant removal.Herein,Codoped CuWO 4/BN quantum dots(CW/Co/BNQDs)photocatalysts were developed to realize Cu^(2+)/Cu+and Co^(2+)/Co^(3+)dual ions redox cycles for PMS activation,which would facilitate the tetracycline(TC)removal.CW/4Co/2BNQDs could degrade 94.8%TC within 30 min in PMS/Vis system,and the apparent rate constant of CW/4Co/2BNQDs was 2.7 times and 1.2 times higher than those of CW and CW/4Co,respectively.The improved TC degradation performance could be attributed to the synergetic effect between BNQDs and dual redox cycles.x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(xPS)spectra of samples before and after the reaction demonstrated that BNQDs were beneficial for accelerating the Cu^(2+)/Cu+and Co^(2+)/Co^(3+)redox cycles in CW/4Co/2BNQDs,further boosting the activation of PMS in TC degradation.Experiments of different radical scavengers revealed that the SO_(4)^(·−)/·OH/h+/^(1)O_(2)reactive species participated in the PMS activation for the TC degradation process.The possible TC degradation pathway and intermediate toxicity were detailed investigated.In addition,CW/4Co/2BNQDs exhibited outstanding photocatalytic activity over five consecutive cycles,which illustrated that it was supposed to be a reliable PMS activator over antibiotic elimination for practical application.And this work shed new light on constructing dual redox cycles for efficient PMS activation.

Auto-parametric resonance of a continuous-beam-bridge model under two-point periodic excitation:an experimental investigation and stability analysis

The auto-parametric resonance of a continuous-beam bridge model subjected to a two-point periodic excitation is experimentally and numerically investigated in this study.An auto-parametric resonance experiment of the test model is conducted to observe and measure the auto-parametric resonance of a continuous beam under a two-point excitation on columns.The parametric vibration equation is established for the test model using the finite-element method.The auto-parametric resonance stability of the structure is analyzed by using Newmark's method and the energy-growth exponent method.The effects of the phase difference of the two-point excitation on the stability boundaries of auto-parametric resonance are studied for the test model.Compared with the experiment,the numerical instability predictions of auto-parametric resonance are consistent with the test phenomena,and the numerical stability boundaries of auto-parametric resonance agree with the experimental ones.For a continuous beam bridge,when the ratio of multipoint excitation frequency(applied to the columns)to natural frequency of the continuous girder is approximately equal to 2,the continuous beam may undergo a strong auto-parametric resonance.Combined with the present experiment and analysis,a hypothesis of Volgograd Bridge's serpentine vibration is discussed.
