The goal of this paper is to enhance a practical nominal characteristic trajectory following(NCTF) controller that is specifically designed for two-mass point-to-point positioning systems. A nominal characteristics trajectory contained in the NCTF controller acts as movement/motion reference and a compensator is utilized to force the object to detect and follow the reference/desired trajectory. The object must follow and track closely and should be as fast as possible. The NCTF controller is designed with two different intelligent based compensator approaches which are fuzzy logic and extended minimal resource allocation network. The proposed controller which is NCTF are compared with the conventional proportional integral compensator. Then the results of simulation are discussed for the positioning performances. The inertia variations due to the effect of the design parameters are also assessed to see the robustness of controllers. The results show that the NCTF control method designed from an intelligent based compensator has a better positioning performance in terms of percentage of overshoot, settling time, and steady state error than the classical based compensator.

Stationary shoulder friction stir welding of Ti-6Al-4V of 7 mm thickness was conducted with varying welding speeds and rotation speeds. Variant selection analysis was carried out based on the inherited α phase texture and the reconstructed 13 phase texture. The weld surfaces became significantly smoother with increasing welding speed and decreasing rotation speed. Heat input decreased greatly with increased welding speed and it decreased slightly with decreased rotation speed. The orientation relationship between the prior 13 grains was measured based on the reconstructed electron backscattered diffraction （EBSD） data. Weak Variant selection has occurred in all the welds because most of the prior 13 grains did not share { 110} poles. Strong links between crystal orientation of the prior 13 grains and hardness have been found.

Aedes aegypti is known as the responsible vector in transmitting dengue flavivirus. Unavailability of medication to cure the transmission in human blood becomes a global health issue in recent decades. World epidemiologists are encouraged to focus on investigation toward an effective and inexpensive way to prevent dengue transmission, i.e. mosquito control. In this paper, we present a model depicting the dynamics of mosquito population based on indoor-outdoor life cycle classification. The basic mosquito offspring number is obtained and analysis of equilibria is shown. We bring along a discussion on application of optimal control model which engineers two simultaneous schemes. The first scheme is done by disseminating chemical like Temephos in spots where eggs and larvae develop, meanwhile the second scheme is done by conducting fumigation through areas where adult mosquitoes prevalently nest, indoor as well as outdoor. A version of gradient-based method is presented to set down a workflow in minimizing the objective functional with respect to control variable. Numerical results from analysis of the basic mosquito offspring number with constant control and from optimal control suggest that one has to enhance the usage of fumigation rather than Temephos. It is also suggested that applying both control schemes simultaneously gives the most significant reduction to the population.

Ultrasonic welding can be used to join plastic and metal through high-frequency (more than 20 kHz) acoustic vibrations. Aluminium alloy is widely used in electronics, automotive and aerospace. The mechanical vibrations used during ultrasonic metal welding are introduced horizontally. During ultrasonic metal welding, a complex process is triggered involving static forces, oscillating shearing forces and a moderate temperature increase in the welding area. As the energy is introduced to the weld zone, there are three important phenomena occurring which are surface effect, volume effect and thermal effect. As it is known, microstructure is directly linked to the mechanical properties including fatigue resistance, fatigue life and fracture strength. So the microstructure analysis is important to evaluate the ultrasonically welded aluminium alloy’s properties. Also, mechanical properties of metal sheets, such as plastic anisotropy and formability, can be improved by a proper crystallographic texture control. That means the texture has great influence on the plastic anisotropy of the final recrystallized sheets. Optical microscopy (OM) can be used for showing the grain size and grain shape. However, to examine the relationship between mechanical behaviour and microstructure of the weldment, optical microscopy(OM) is not sufficient. OM cannot delineate a grain structure in the weld zone. The etched surface exhibited granularity at the micron level, but it was not clear if that reflected the grain structure. Electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) in an SEM has become the most widely used technique for determination of microtexture. In this research, high-resolution electron backscatter diffraction is used to study the effects of the vibration on the evolution of microstructure in AA6061.
