Kashin-Beck disease（KBD） is an endemic degenerative osteoarthropathy of uncertain etiology. The aim of our study was to identify changes in C-telopeptide of type Ⅱ collagen（CTX-Ⅱ）, pyridinoline（PYD）, and deoxypyridinoline（DPD） among KBD patients. 54 KBD patients and 78 healthy controls were included this study. Urinary samples were collected and measured by ELISA. The median quantities of PYD, CTX-Ⅱ, and DPD of KBD patients were 1107.73 ng/μ***, 695.11 ng/μ***, and 1342.34 pml/μ***, while the median quantities of healthy controls were 805.59 ng/μ***, 546.47 ng/μ***, and 718.15 pml/μ***, respectively. The differences between KBD patients and healthy controls were statistically significant（Z = 4.405, 3.653, and 3.724; P 〈 0.001）. The higher levels of PYD, CTX-Ⅱ, and DPD detected in KBD patients indicate that they could be used as biomarkers of KBD.

Existence of homologous sequences corresponding to cDNA of the ver gene in diverse higher plant species

The presence of DNA homologues corresponding to verc203 (vernalization-related cDNA clone) was investigated by molecular hybridization techniques. The genes were detected in 16 plant species that cover 12 subclasses of the Takhtajan system of angiosperms classification including diverse model species. The results of Southern blot analysis showed a low copy number of this gene existed in rice, wheat, barley and Arabidopsis. The hybridization result of PCR products demonstrated the conservation of the gene corresponding to ver203 in diverse plants. The phylogenetic tree of the ver203 gene in tested plants was supported by evolution relationship of species. The ver203 gene expressed in a vernalized plumule winter wheat, instead of the root. And the endosperm before the treatment was essential for the ver203 expression during vernalization in wheat. In Arabidopsis thaliana, the pattern of expression showed that the gene corresponding to ver203 was expressed at low temperature for 14 days. Gibberellin(GA3) may accelerate the expression of ver203 gene in Arabidopsis exposed to low temperature. However, it could not replace vernalization treatment to initiate the gene expression.

BACKGROUND Uridine diphosphate glucuronosyltransferase 1A1(UGT1A1)plays a crucial role in metabolizing and detoxifying endogenous and exogenous ***,its contribution to the progression of liver damage remains *** To determine the role and mechanism of UGT1A1 in liver damage *** We investigated the relationship between UGT1A1 expression and liver injury through clinical ***,the impact and mechanism of UGT1A1 on the progression of liver injury was analyzed through a mouse model *** Patients with UGT1A1 gene mutations showed varying degrees of liver damage,while patients with acute-onchronic liver failure(ACLF)exhibited relatively reduced levels of UGT1A1 protein in the liver as compared to patients with chronic *** suggests that low UGT1A1 levels may be associated with the progression of liver *** mouse models of liver injury induced by carbon tetrachloride(CCl_(4))and concanavalin A(ConA),the hepatic levels of UGT1A1 protein were found to be *** mice with lipopolysaccharide or liver steatosis-mediated liver-injury progression,the hepatic protein levels of UGT1A1 were decreased,which is consistent with the observations in patients with ***1A1 knockout exacerbated CCl_(4)-and ConA-induced liver injury,hepatocyte apoptosis and necroptosis in mice,intensified hepatocyte endoplasmic reticulum(ER)stress and oxidative stress,and disrupted lipid *** UGT1A1 is upregulated as a compensatory response during liver injury,and interference with this upregulation process may worsen liver ***1A1 reduces ER stress,oxidative stress,and lipid metabolism disorder,thereby mitigating hepatocyte apoptosis and necroptosis.

Objective:To observe the confidence level prevailing with regard to the practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)among undergraduate nursing students who have undertaken TCM courses at Shanxi Medical ***:This cross-sectional study was conducted at Shanxi University of Chinese Medicine.A questionnaire survey was administered through the Questionnaire Star website(https://***/).The confidence level was examined from 6 aspects,namely cognition of TCM culture and theory,advantages and characteristics of TCM diagnosis and treatment,feelings about TCM achievements,personal behaviors related to TCM,attitudes toward Western medicine,and the future of *** mean score of the observed items was calculated,and was found to be positively related to the confidence level concerning TCM(the score was between 1 and 5).Results:A total of 120 participants voluntarily enrolled themselves in the *** results showed that the mean score of observed items were generally about 4.A relatively strong confidence was shown in understating TCM advantages and characteristics in diagnosis and treatment,and also in feelings toward TCM ***:The majority of nursing undergraduates had confidence in ***,some aspects such as the understanding of TCM culture and the correlation between TCM and Western medicine may need to be improved through education.

Objective: To investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying the beneficial effect of electroacupuncture(EA) in experimental models of Alzheimer’s disease(AD) in vivo. Methods: Senescenceaccelerated mouse prone 8(SAMP8) mice were used as AD models and received EA at Yingxiang(LI 20, bilateral) and Yintang(GV 29) points for 20 days. For certain experiments, SAMP8 mice were injected intravenously with human fibrin(2 mg). The Morris water maze test was used to assess cognitive and memory abilities. The changes of tight junctions of blood-brain barrier(BBB) in mice were observed by transmission electron microscope. The expressions of fibrin, amyloid-β(Aβ), and ionized calcium-binding adapter molecule 1(IBa-1) in mouse hippocampus(CA1/CA3) were detected by reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR), Western blot or immunohistochemical staining. The expression of fibrin in mouse plasma was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The expressions of tight junction proteins zonula occludens-1 and claudin-5 in hippocampus were detected by qRT-PCR and immunofluorescence *** of hippocampal neurons was detected by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick end labeling(TUNEL) staining. Results: Fibrin was time-dependently deposited in the hippocampus of SAMP8mice and this was inhibited by EA treatment(P<0.05 or P<0.01). Furthermore, EA treatment suppressed the accumulation of Aβ in the hippocampus of SAMP8 mice(P<0.01), which was reversed by fibrin injection(P<0.05 or P<0.01). EA improved SAMP8 mice cognitive impairment and BBB permeability(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Moreover, EA decreased reactive oxygen species levels and neuroinflammation in the hippocampus of SAMP8mice, which was reversed by fibrin injection(P<0.05 or P<0.01). Computer vision(CV)algorithms have been extensively used for a myriad of applications *** the multimedia data are generally well-formatted and regular,it is beneficial to leverage the massive parallel processing power of the underlying platform to improve the performances of CV *** Instruction Multiple Data(SIMD)instructions,capable of conducting the same operation on multiple data items in a single instruction,are extensively employed to improve the efficiency of CV *** this paper,we evaluate the power and effectiveness of RISC-V vector extension(RV-V)on typical CV algorithms,such as Gray Scale,Mean Filter,and Edge *** our examinations,we show that compared with the baseline OpenCV implementation using scalar instructions,the equivalent implementations using the RV-V(version 0.8)can reduce the instruction count of the same CV algorithm up to 24x,when processing the same input ***,the actual performances improvement measured by the cycle counts is highly related with the specific implementation of the underlying RV-V *** our evaluation,by using the vector co-processor(with eight execution lanes)of Xuantie C906,vector-version CV algorithms averagely exhibit up to 2.98x performances speedups compared with their scalar counterparts.

Identifying the unknown geometric and material information of a multi-shield object by analyzing the radiation signature measurements is always an important problem in national and global security. In order to identify the unknown shielding layer thicknesses of a source/shield system with gamma-ray spectra, we have developed a derivative-free inverse radiation transport model based on a differential evolution algorithm with global and local neighbourhoods(IRT-DEGL). In the present paper, the IRT-DEGL model is further extended for estimating the unknown thicknesses with random initial guesses and material mass densities of multi-shielding layers as well as their combinations. Using the detected gamma-ray spectra,the illustration of inverse studies is implemented and the main influence factors for inverse results are also analyzed.

We present a conceptual design study of external calibrators in the 21 cm experiment towards detecting the globally averaged radiation of the epoch of reionization(EoR).Employment of external calibrator instead of internal calibrator commonly used in current EoR experiments allows removing instrumental effects such as beam pattern,receiver gain and instability of the system if the conventional three-position switch measurements are implemented in a short time ***,in the new design the antenna system is placed in an underground anechoic chamber with an open/closing ceiling to maximally reduce the environmental effect such as RFI and ground radiation/*** appears that three of the four external calibrators proposed in this paper,including two indoor artificial transmitters and one outdoor celestial radiation(the Galactic polarization),fail to meet our *** motion of the Galactic diffuse emission turns out to be the most probable source as an external calibrator,for which we have discussed the observational strategy and the algorithm of extracting the EoR signal.
